Roadworks in Germany

We are thinking of going to Croatia at the end of Aug perhaps following Diane's route but a bit concerned about roadworks in Germany, does anyone know how things are now especially around Bitburg? Any update would be appreciated, thanks.

Used A60 4 weeks ago, southbound follow diversion signed U14, road a bit narrow on a bend, takes you back under A60 towards Bitburg then re-joins later, northbound no problem just one lane.

Just returned from Croatia, using same route. As CR states above, road is closed near Bitburg southbound.

We diverted much earlier (near St Vith) through Luxembourg via Vianden (cheap fuel) then on to Prumtal Camping for our first overnight stop.

Roads are a doddle compared to here and rejoining southbound, near Bitburg, no problem. Enjoy your trip :)

    Hi David

As usual, once past Bitburg, the roads were as good and as quiet as ever! There was some heavy traffic around Karlsruhe on the 8 and also further on past Stuttgart where the roadworks are, but nothing as bad as the M6. We used the 51/64/L151/1/62 to Pirmasens then 10 to Landau and 65 back on to the 8. We did it on a 'Bank holiday' and traffic was heavy (but no HGV's)

Just a note....if you're heading back up the 1 towards Trier, on your return, ignore the 'road closed' signs. The route is open and the signs will direct you.

Just penning a story about our trip..... Enjoy yours :)

Glad you have had a good run AD and to hear you enjoyed your meal at Prumtal.  Wish I was there.
