I really can't get my head around this 'fairness' business? who is the club not being fair to?
The club as a business decides it's pricing structure, it has decided, (and I assume it has done its homework to make sure it makes a profit) that an all inclusive price is the way they want to sell us their product. Now as we are not forced to buy this product at this price. If you feel that this price is not fair to you then don't buy the product, don't come to club sites.
As I said elsewhere I have just returned from a two week stay. This time I booked with Thomas Cook and the hotel was all inclusive and the price was that offered I accepted and paid. If I thought the price for the holiday was too much for was I was getting then I would not have paid,
If I felt the price was not fair to me as I only drink 2 bottles of coke a day and why should I subsidise those who drank Baileys all day I would not have paid. Thomas Cook set the price with the hotel and took the risk I wouldn't drink and eat all the food. It is the same with the club.
If you hardly use any electricity a day then yes by all means find a site without electricity or one with a meter.
PS I did actually take full advantage of the 24/7 all inclusive deal, and it was not uncommon for me to have a large number of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks throughout the day. I am pretty sure I would have been found guilty of being drunk in charge of a sunbed.

And there I was thinking that the rationale behind making that sort of investment was that it enabled one to go off grid or use non facility sites. Why would you make that sort of investment and then pitch up on a (allegedly, overpriced) full facility club site?

If the £12 pitch fee includes two adults and in winter you add on our electricity consumption at 15p per kwhr, you end up with a total figure of approximately £19 a night. Currently at sites like Clumber Park mid week prices are £15.50 in winter. So if you usually use EHU and have not invested in refillables / solar panels, it would cost £3.50 a night more.
There have been threads recently about attracting more folk in winter. Not sure metered electricity will do this.

At 15ppkwh, it could easily be a lot more than a few pence, especially in winter!
Those of us with larger vans are going to use considerably more than those with a smaller 2 berth outfit, as are those with every conceivable electric appliance.
Signs on Club sites do ask people to be mindful of the cost and not be profligate with the electricity, I doubt anyone takes much notice. Having to pay for what you use would concentrate the mind very well.
Do people not think about how much they spend on their bills at home, switch off unnecessary things? We certainly do!

OK, let's say a few quid, K! But is it still such a big issue? Would I object to you with your large TA van pitching up next to us with our small 2 berth? Would it even occur to me that you might use consideraby more electric than me? (No and no!
) I really don't accept that there are hoardes of the "selfish and greedy" (not your words!) costing the rest of us the earth on sites!

We cannot know, but I would think there are considerably more than very few.
And yes, I would be happier to pay my way and know I am neither subsidising others or being subsidised by others.
We would not expect it at home, why expect it when on holiday?
I can still relax and enjoy my break.

I don't and I pay for what I use K. On site I use enough electricity to stay warm in winter and to keep fridge cool etc. No bikes or disabled buggys to charge. I suspect that many do the same. So where does somebody use all the extra that folk are concerned about? Maybe heating an unoccupied awning all day. Yes it does happen but would I want to faff with metering because of the rare selfish individual? No.
So somebody can manage without EHU. Tough as that is part of the package. I can manage without shower facilities etc. Tough because on most sites it is part of the package. Do I want to pay for the installation and maintenance of meters? Not at all.
OK when I go abroad on holiday I can avoid all inclusive or half board etc and I do so. Not because it is poor value for some but because for me it is as I prefer to eat elsewhere than where I am staying and do not wish to hang around a hotel in any case.
With caravan sites because I want to follow a tour route and because I largely use CC sites or affiliated sites I have to pay for facilities that I rarely need. Tough luck for me.
So personally I have no desire to see electricity metered. I doubt that it will advantage the majority of CC site users in any way.

It doesn't worry me in the least if I am subsidising someone else's use of electric. If it helps a fellow club member, that's fine. We're all in this club together and supposed to be like minded people so good luck to the person who used 1kwh more than me without paying extra.

Now, I thought going away in the van was supposed to be relaxing,but no
, I have to worry if I'm using to much electric,if my TV is to loud ,my dog barks at the wrong time 
or my flag flaps too much 
,my BBQ smoke blows the wrong way . Well sorry ,but I'm not bothered if someone uses a bit more electric or their TV is a bit louder ,you get the drift I'm on holiday
and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it ,go on give it a try

We recently used a small commercial site that had recently fitted metered electric, and were pleasantly surprised with the cost we had to pay. Although as brue said it does focus ones mind on use we ended up paying less than £1 per night. Whether this is normal or not I don't know but we will look to used this sort of facility again.
