Amazon Firestick in France

I'm traveling to France in a couple of weeks and would like to know if anyone has had any joy using their Amazon Firestick on the continent. I am keen to keep up to date with the news etc. I have a EE internet dongle with 15gb of data and have been told that the data can now be used abroad.

I am afraid I don't know about the firestick but you can't use BBC iplayer or Sky Go normally. Although I am told there are ways round it

The other thing is I have yet to see anywhere in the info O2 and EE sent me if they permit tethering whilst roaming. If they don't, it would not be possible in any event.

My EE osprey wireless wifi dongle can connect up to 5 devices at any time so tethering won't be a problem.

I was told that the French download speeds will be slower than that which we are used to at home so streaming may not be possible anyway. As you say Steve, it's a shame we can't watch BBC and Sky Go (it costs enough).

Would love to hear from anyone that has found a loophole.

You can use it abroad if you are a prime member, but only some content is available, it will automatically show you which content or you can look here.  BBC iPlayer etc is not available. Worth pointing out that if you do use it you will go through your 3/4G allowance quite quickly, much better to hook up to wifi if you can.

I used firestick in Spain OK, on site Wi-Fi, but there is no way to log out, and I had to get site to contact provider to log me out to enable me to use other devices

With free wi fi just about everywhere I go it's so simple to get all the news from BBC Radio 4 - either live or catch up. Even with a feeble wi fi signal it works fine on this I pad.
