We left at 09:30 and arrived at 13:30 including half an hour stop in a layby for lunch. So 4 hours altogether BB! tongue-out

It's hot and sunny here on Northbrook Farm club site but lovely and cool in the caravan with the aircon working once again!smile

The best air con that I have ever seen is to open the windows on both sides and let the breeze blow through. It worked a treat for me in the Caribbean, as well as in the UK in the caravan.

What have we been up to....well a walk up to Beachy Head this week cleared the cobwebs and the view of the Seven Sisters was good too.smile

(The dogs were on leads, even though you can't see the leads, not a place to let dogs or small people run free.)

Very straight forward journey back from Cornwall this afternoon but very heavy traffic going the opposite way, particularly at the stretch near Temple where they still haven't finished the final stretch of dualling yet.  Long list of jobs to be done over the next few days and then we'll be heading off again for a week at Ross Park down in Devon. Hard work this retirement business! smile

Has the web site been down? I seem to be the only one on CT just now?

Off for a walk, was just looking in. smile

It was when I tried to get on about 8am, said essential maintenance. However, despite searching I can find no note of what they may have fixed.☹️ We will just have to wait and see if the multiple thread issue has been sorted. More gardening for us today, it is in need of some TLC after our 6 weeks away.

I got the essential maintenance message to after 8.30am. Seems even less activity on here lately.  Is that even possible? I'm wondering if they'll hope we all give up and they can ditch CT? I think we'd loose a great source of general information built up over several lifetimes. Staff comment on other threads even about website access and IT but we are deafened by the silence on anything regarding CT.

Winge over have a great day whatever you're doing. We hope to go out later, yesterday hubby took out and resealed the bathroom skylight on the motorhome as we had water coming in. Mind you it is 15 years old. Made a decent job of it. Full sun for 4 hours. I polished inside and gave it a good clean. Then cleaned the bathroom of the debris. Need rain to check it out but not in a hurry for that! Hopefully all ready for our trip starting Saturday.

I seem to be constantly wobbly recently and will have to pop back to the GP this week to see if she can offer an alternative tablet. I've not taken the others since they gave me horrible dreams. I've used travel sickness pills occasionally but a discussion with the pharmacist has made my mind up that I need to go can't buy anything over the counter and travel pills have to be cut in half and still high ish dose.

There are so many different types of ladder on the market that it's difficult to know which to choose. It would need to fold up small enough to fit in the car but extend tall enough to get to the caravan roof of 2610 mm. Any ideas?

That's our next job Bakers, reseal heki. We have all we need to do it, unpredictable weather is our problem. I shall be cleaning our MH out today, all being well, we shall be off for a few days local again. We can manage just putting a bead of sealant around if needs be, but prefer to do it properly. OH replaced rear springs on our MH last week as well. That job went really well thankfully, I think it is our shocking roads that is taking toll on our MH.

I hope your wobble gets resolved.

Why would it need to fit in the car? we carry our 5 step step ladder inside the caravan when travelling, and it is under the c/van when on site £20 from Aldi, and i can reach onto the c.van roof to clean the opening vents from them

Same here, as TDA said, I hope the "wobble" goes soon B2. I was prescribed Stemetil when I had my balance problems but it took a long time to adapt and resolve, I also did NHS balance exercises. It's a real nuisance but things will improve.

Malc - it's probably worth chatting to the wardens, particularly whilst you're on your seasonal pitch. They're sure to have at least acouple of step ladders and would probably be happy for you to borrow them to get the job done from time to time. smile

    Hi Malcolm,

Would a telescopic ladder do the job as my OH suggested does not take up much room either, as to wardens lending ladders afraid to say not allowed health and safety.

We had a seasonal many years ago and kept a ladder under the van whilst on site then and as JVB66 suggested put into the caravan when on the move.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, redkite. Like you say, I could store it in the caravan when on the move. However, when I buy it I will need to collect it in the car to get it to our pitch where the caravan is sited.

For ease of use and stability, I would recommend a 2 sided step ladder type, rather than one that you need to lean against the edge of the roof of the van.  Set it parallel to the side and have your wife brace it so it does not tip sideways when you reach over to the air con unit

I think this would be better in use than a telescopic ordinary ladder as I would be worried about leaning it on the van.  If you do lean it on  the van, put plenty of padding under it.

For storage, chain it to the van when on site, when moving it can either go on the roof of the car, or on the floor of the van, an aluminium ladder will not be too heavy to manoeuvre.

I would check out Toolstation and Screwfix first, they will deliver, B&Q as a last resort, or possibly a good hardware store.

As to size, you want the roof to be at your waist level when you are standing securely on the ladder so by measuring the height to your waist and  subtracting it from the height of the van, you can work out how high up you need to be able to stand.  Some step ladders have a platform to stand on, but you should at least ger something with flat treads as they are much more comfortable in use.

Another type are the 3 way ladders that can be a step ladder with treads both sides, an ordinary (longer) ladder, or an adjustable one for using on stairs.  More expensive to buy, but very versatile.  When used as a step ladder you can stand with one foot either side when working on the roof.

PS....Aldi and Lidl quite often get various ladders in their offers, so if you are not in any great hurry you have time to wait and/or shop around.

You will easily get it inside your Shogun, you will not be needing anything that is too long to go in the car.  Even our old Volvo V40 took things 2.5m long.

Thanks Brue and Takethedogalong for your good wishes.  I know it will go one day but I'm finding it frustrating that it's been back again for more than a week! It's been 7 weeks since it started. The tablets you quote Brue weren't those I was prescribed but pharmacist said there are lots of different ones so well see. Hopefully I can get an appointment!

Glad you had a good time away Oneputt hope Mrs Oneputt has enjoyed her weekend too! Do you miss being involved with the Scouts?

Went to Trinity in Rayleigh today, huge turnout and very hot weather. Loads to watch dancing wise the church tower was open as was the windmill - I'm not great with heights at the best of times so gave them a miss today. Pity because the views from the mount went on for miles so I'd think they'd be even better from the mill or tower. About 1.30 they estimated an hour's wait to go up the tower so that should have made a tidy sum towards the church funds. Plenty of side stalls too. Sadly no provision seems to have been made for parking so the carpark was a bit of a scrum. He who can always park couldn't 😲.  But we did find space in a residential street and in the shade!

Back home about 3pm cuppa in the garden, wind rather strong and it was very cloudy. That's blown away now but a few spots of rain from a dirty great black cloud before it did. Clear blue again at present. Will permit myself another half hour or so before going to start the dinner.

Edit still getting good the wrong way signs when I tried to log in. So that ain't fixed 😢

Sounds like a good day out B2. We've had a lot to do since coming home from our break, just cleared a mountain of washing and ironing, acquired the extra dog for an unknown length of time....swiftly back to normal! wink

OH has an eye appointment this week, we made sure we were here but since the original date it has been changed three times, hoping it doesn't change again.

I wondered how our garden was doing when we were away, especially after the strong winds and downpours but it seems to have survived quite well.

The light in the caravan toilet compartment is not working. It can't be the bulb because there are two small bulbs in there so if one went the other would still work. So it must be some electrical fault.

Check your fuses Malc. If a bulb goes it sometimes trips the fuse.

I had a look at the fuses but it doesn't look like anything's tripped.

There are lights in the shower as well as the washroom. Both are operated from the same switch. The shower lights are working but not the washroom ones.
