What are you all up to

It's been a busy couple of days. Yesterday morning we spread the awning out, dried it and packed it away. We then went back to Sheringham Park as we were rained off on Tuesday and had a lovely afternoon. Gorgeous weather and the rhododendrons might have past their best but they still looked beautiful to me. It was spectacular. While we were out we had a discussion and decided we would try to move pitch so we could put the awning back up especially as the family are joining us at the weekend. The lady warden was so very helpful and found us a very nice pitch in the lower field. No lovely sea view but much more sheltered. We managed to move very quickly but in doing so found we had a problem with the jockey wheel which just wouldn't engage when we were pitched so after Mr H struggling with it for over an hour we rang Mayday who said 'no problem' and a very nice man came and repaired it this morning. We then put up the awning again this morning. After that we spent the afternoon at Felbrigg. I love the walled garden there. Beautiful sunset this evening.
Glad your son in Manchester is OK Helen.

I assume you are at Camping Park Lemgo? When we were there about 9 years ago the young chap that run the site was just starting to upgrade it. The family run another campsite not so far away. Lemgo is a lovely town.

Many thanks for the link, David. Your description of this site is very accurate. I also read your 2010 diary and enjoyed seeing all the photos. You certainly visited a lot of places between May and November of that year.
We're only here for one night, so we'll have to leave all the other things, that you mention, to do in this area, for another occasion!
We have also noticed when staying on Littlehampton Club site in November that it suddenly gets very full around the time when the other club sites in the area close because of end of season.

We've had breakfast and are now getting ready to take our caravan to the Truma factory. Our motor mover is Truma as well, so maybe we can get that fixed as well as the aircon whilst there.
We haven't yet booked a site for tonight. It all depends on how long they take to carry out the repairs. If it takes until the afternoon then we'll need to find a site locally, otherwise we'll go straight down to Chipping Sodbury to collect our awning and then on to Cirencester Park for the night, if there are still spaces available there.

I have suggested it but she prefers her own cooking! It also saves cost. The tour around Scotland has cost a lot already, fuel plus site fees and we'll need to fill up again before returning to Worthing.

I do all the cooking at home. It is nice to have a chefs night off occasionally. We don't celebrate anniversaries other than birthdays as we live over the brush
Strangely my late wife and I never celebrated wedding anniversaries as I recall.

We left Uttoxeter club site at 07:45 and got to the Truma factory at 07:59. We're now in the waiting room whilst they fix the aircon. They're having a look at the motor mover too.

Well at least they started on time Malcolm. Don't forget to request a full demonstration of them both working BEFORE paying anything if you have to and leaving!
Do you have to wait in their room all the time? Can you not take yourselves off for a nosey around the area in the car? You've got a mobile phone so instant contact.

Milliehull glad you're now settled and sheltered. I'd love a place on the sea at Cromer BUT not with an easterly wind 😉.
Helenandtrevor hope your son settles back into that building might take a while.
Got to walk into town to do a bit of banking, walked back from Homebase that way yesterday but didn't have the paperwork. Followed a footpath we hadn't found in 38 years of living here! Runs behind industrial units which have changed over the years. It includes 2.5 acres of conservation habitation called the Marconi ponds which I'd heard of but didn't place there 😲. So good to get out and explore your local area!

What a bonus Bakers2. A new conservation area to explore.

Get out & explore my local area ??
Brue what are you suggesting ?? -- I might even meet those newbies who moved in 3 years ago, and then where would I be ??
As to what I'm doing right now ==> Sitting here { whilst the washing machine does the 'preliminary wash' on some nice new towels } listening to some C.D.s . I really must start reading the blurb before I put them on !! This one is Katherine Jenkins -- no objection to that but its a Christmas Carol C. D. so its reminding me that in but a week and a half it will be 'Longest Day' Then the nights start drawing in again !!
So get out & enjoy it if you possibly can !

They gave us both a choice of bacon or sausage sandwich plus tea or coffee. So we got an extra breakfast.
We're still in the waiting room.
They showed me the problem with the aircon. Some leaves and other debris from the tree had got sucked into the roof unit thereby blocking the roof outlets which was why water was leaking through the air distributor. So they've taken apart the roof unit and are cleaning all the debris away. They suggested we park away from the tree on the club site. They're also fixing the motor mover.

Malcolm sucking in leaves and twigs sounds like design fault. Get a grill or mesh or something over to stop it. You don't have to be under a tree to get leaves and twigs on the roof. They blow in the wind 😉.
Edit I see ABM thinks along the same lines.

Yes, we are. Facilities are good, water very close to our pitch, but total lack of any sensible grey water disposal (as usual!) as the drains below the taps are only soakaways. They expect you to take your grey water to the chemical disposal point, which is a big hopper about 3 feet above ground level.
Would have been so easy to make a proper grey water drain at ground level beside the toilet block! Thought to use the MH point, but it is far away from our pitch, just beside the entrance, and we are in the separate further away area.
The site has a flooding problem , slightly improved now the weir on the river has been removed, but they are about to lose several pitches in our area as the river is to be widened to prevent flooding. In preparation, all the big trees along the river has been removed, leaving the ground very uneven in places and making the area look rather unloved.

Yes milliehull it was a bonus, access to the ponds locked, and just a path through. So it's been explored 😲. It's an odd elongated shape with the railway embankment on one side and footpath on the other. Still nice oasis of maintained scrub which will enhance wildlife.

Sounds a bit as though the aircon, which I presume is sold for use on a caravan, is not fit for purpose. A touring caravan is almost certainly going to end up under trees from time to time, particularly in hotter climates. As bakers says they also blow about. Are you expected to periodically get on the roof to clean it out? If so surely they should fit a warning light that shows the roof outlets are blocked.

So perhaps the initial good intentions have not progressed much since our visit. Is the Canoe Club still there separating the two halfs of the site? When we visited there was quite a fearsome lady who seemed to run the reception who spoke very little English!!! One strange memory I have of Lemgo is in a supermarket carpark there was a red lefthand drive Morris Traveller with German plates. I know there are lots of UK Army basis round and about in that area which might explain it.

Eh?! Confused now.
Had a lovely walk to Corfe Castle this morning and a cream tea at the NT tearooms overlooking the castle. Dogs welcome in or outside and around the castle. Not too busy so could enjoy strolling around.
