Managed to get out this afternoon to get the shopping, the supermarket car was full of Swiss cars more of them than French ones. The prices in France are high compared to the UK so Swiss prices must be even more if they are traveling over the border to do their shopping. Just about everything here in the shops are double and some treble what we pay back home, some examples are Cauliflower 4.99€ each, chickens range from 5€ to 15€ for a small one, potatoes 4.99€ kg, prawns which I love are 15.99€ per kg these prices are in the supermarkets. We went to a local market the other day and the prices were even more expensive, a small punnet of strawberry's 4.99€ Galia melon 5.50€. Ice cream and wine or cheap but you can't live on them, can youundecided

Hope the weather breaks for you all soon.

We went to Moreton in tbe Marsh this morning. Market day, but only a handful of stalls, presumably due to rain.

Drove on to Stowe in tbe Wold and watched the chaos in the central square as the bus tried to get round, but couldn't, due to some numpty parked at the end of a row, not in an actual parking space and thus blocking the road.

Thought about going to Upton House (NT) but decided to leave it for another day.

Moved to Hidcote Gardens only to find them closed......due to strong wind forecast (!!??) so we went to Kiftgate Gardens instead. The chap on reception said that Upton House was also closed due to wind forecast (again.....!!??).

Anyway, still breezy this evening but the sun has come out.

Ian,  provided  its  not  raining  too  hard,  I  park  in  the  supermarket  carpark  in  Stowe o t Wold  --  there  is  normally  plenty  of  room  on  the  right  hand  side { Facing  the  s/market }  and  24 hour  parking  is  permitted  !! Its  a  good  place  to  park  'cos  its  slightly  up  bank  coming  back  so  I  tend  not  to  spend  too  much  in  Scotts  ,, ,, ,, ,, ,, ,,winkmoney-mouth

At the moment, it looks like it's wet and windy everywhere, Bakers2 and not just on the west coast of Scotland!

We did our shopping and filled up fuel at Tesco in Oban but the weather put us off doing anything else. Also we encountered traffic in Oban for the first time since visiting Scotland.

We've just had breakfast of cereal and toast and now getting ready for our journey of about 200 miles to Carlisle. It's still rather windy here at North Ledaig. I just hope the wind can subside in time for our journey. We plan to leave soon after 9 a.m.

Luckily, the wind has subsided and the sun has come out in time for our journey. Not much longer now before we'll be ready for the off. The towing mirrors are already in place.

So now we can hope for a lovely journey through some beautiful Scottish countryside before reaching the club site, Englethwaite Hall in Carlisle. Just one night stop there before continuing on the journey towards the Truma factory in Derbyshire tomorrow. This will be followed by one more overnight stop, after Carlisle, that will be near enough for us to get to the factory for our aircon repairs by 08:30 a.m. on Friday.

We plan to take the route past Loch Lubnaig and then through Callander before joining the motorway.

I find driving in Scotland a pleasure because of the absence of heavy traffic. The hectic bit might be tomorrow's run on the M6 with it's heavier traffic. Also, I can't be sure of the weather remaining kind for that long!

Sunny here too, very blustery and bracing. Beach and pub walk today. This is where the Normans  landed in 1066, a very old campsite. laughing

Still very breezy this morning  but at least it's not raining!  Took the dog for a walk, lots of branches down in our park. Have pegged all the washing out, extra pegs, hoping they stay on.laughing

Glad you got your awning down safely Millie, hopefully you will get it dried off today.

    Safe trip Malcolm.

Just at the hairdressers, full works today. Bright but very breezy like Helen washing on the line well pegged hope it stays. OH has strict instructions to watch it and get in if it rains 😲. My poor beautiful rose is a complete shadow of its former glory, still a few heads and some more buds. Most things taken a battering hopefully the sun will help and a few stakes 😉.

    Enjoy your day folks

Maybe a bit late, but check the directions for the approach to Englethwaite Hall as printed on the email confirmation. The usual road may still be closed (re water pipe replacement).

If so, turn right in the first village after you leave the M6 - just after the shop I think. Then left at the crossroads in Cotehill, then right at the T  junction back onto the usual road. If you look at a map it will be clear what I mean.

The roads are narrow, but perfectly OK

Mizzly first thing but nice blue sky now but still a very bracing wind. Awning now dried and put away. That was fun in the wind! Everybody helping each other though. A lovely community spirit. We have decided that we shall do without the awning for the rest of the week as it is still forecast to be windy. Might try to resume our walk in Sheringham Park later though I expect thr rhododendrons will have taken a battering. Hope everyone stayed safe yesterday.

Know just what you mean HD! We used to take my Mum and Dad away with us a couple of times a year. We had to take two cars, one with a roof box for all stuff they needed, and of course having dogs. But we treasured those holidays. Still got my Mum and Dad, both 88, but sadly Dad is too ill to travel now. Have a nice time, will be a change from MH. Hope your OH is doing ok as well.smile

Good idea. You could get a stand plate for on back, a good strong harness, a stick with a bonio out front and just whisper....."mush, mush" Brilliant! laughing
