Crumbs Tammygirl where are you staying? Just to compare prices our shopping today €2.49 for 500g of strawberries (special offer), and Melon was € 2.59, 2 chicken breasts were €5.34 for 400g. We are in Millau. We didn't buy any other of your items so can't compare. We have noticed things being more expensive than previously due to the exchange rate so have been picking and choosing a bit more. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Thanks TtDA......been there many times over the last 20 years and agree it's one of the more interesting NT properties.
We actually walked up the hill and past the Manor today. Carried on past the lavender farm (not open yet) and then on to Broadway Tower. Called at the cafe and treated ourselves to a cream tea, then down the grassy hill to the village.
Lovely warm day today and the views were far reaching and brilliant.

Thanks Goldie. I wish I had read your post earlier. I had some difficulty following the diversion signs but I got there in the end. Far easier to just park overnight in the motorway services!
We arrived at about 3 p.m. but couldn't check in until 5 p.m. because the reception office was closed. So we got our caravan sited and then went to Tesco in Carlisle to fill up fuel and do some shopping. By the time we got back it was nearly 5 p.m. so I was able to check in.
Our journey was good, lovely weather and beautiful scenery and virtually traffic free until we got near the border at Gretna. That was where we encountered our first traffic jam. After we crossed the border past the 'Welcome to England' sign and on to the M6 it was a smooth run up to junction 42 which was our turn off for the club site at Carlisle.

We've booked to stay at Uttoxeter Racecourse Caravan Club site for our next night. This seems closer to the Truma factory than staying on the motorway services as long as we can leave early enough to get to the factory by 08:30 a.m. Has anyone on here stayed on this site? If so please let me know your comments.

I'm feeling happy now!
I've just been notified of my pay from Pizza Hut and it's more than what I expected.
It's also our wedding anniversary day after tomorrow. 
That means another trip to Tesco to buy something special for our anniversary meal!

If your not ready to go home straight after you get your aircon fixed, you may like to consider Cirencester Park. Very easy to get into at this time of year, even plenty of space for this weekend. You could drive from there to Chipping Sodbury to collect your awning, it's only 26 miles, about 40 mins. You could combine picking it up with a visit to NT Durham Park / house, which is nearbye and well worth a visit.
Also from a point of view of buying something nice to eat for your anniversary, there is a Waitrose as well as M&S and very good butcher and fishmongers.
Some of the pitches are a little tight to get into without a mover, however there is a big area of grass that should not be a problem. Depending on what mover you have, you may be able to get it fixed on site, if CAMC allow that. I think power touch will go more or less anywhere.

We have just had a repair done on site at Seacroft. We discovered that we had a problem with the jockey wheel which Mr H couldn't fix so we called Mayday and a very nice man came out this morning and fixed it.
The warden was absolutely fine about it.0 -
The site is fine, Malcolm. We often use it. The facilities are a bit tired but clean and perfectly usable. You have to remember it's owned by the racecourse and not CAMC. The price reflects what you find but I like the site. Avoid race days and event days if you want peace and quiet and easy access.
There's a Tesco nearby.

Mayday came out to us at home when the mover siezed up and we could not get the van off the driveway .........it's a downhill 10% slope and a 1900kg twin axle van......the fellow who came out was a fellow caravanner and he managed to free up the mover and helped us get the van safely onto the street and hitched up.
Would never have thought there could be a problem getting repairs done on a site. Last year at York Beechwood, we had an Alde engineer out to repair our CH and the thought that this might not be allowed never crossed my mind. OH told the warden that the repair man was coming and asked if he could drive to our pitch with his van.
We also had someone out to fix the old car when we were at Cheddar, again no problem.

It does annoy me that when I get the caravan serviced they will not service the mover for me. Something I personally am unable to do. Surely a spot of grease in the right place, check the motor brushes and adjustment to the roller gap would help all vanners and save those sort of call outs?

Your idea of "traffic" must be very different to mine Malcolm, you make it sound like the roads in Scotland are empty!
The A75 between Dumfries and Stranraer, which I presume you used at some point, is always busy due to the traffic to/from the Irish ferry, as is the road north to Ayr.
From Ayr, the road north, A and M77 is also a busy route, and coming back the road through Callander is well used. Closer to Glasgow the M8 and the M74 are usually very busy, though the further south you go the quieter it gets. We always notice the difference coming north once we pass the turn off to the South Lakes.
What a shame you did not get more nice weather, but I hope you enjoyed your break anyway.

I'm used to having to sit in traffic jams in Worthing, KjellNN, so Scotland was a picnic in comparison!
After the intoxicating scenery of Scotland, I have to say that today's journey along the M6 was somewhat less than interesting! I had to take 3 service breaks to cope with it!
The club site in Uttoxeter was a lot easier to get to. You just follow the racecourse signs.
After checking in and getting pitched, we went to the Tesco Superstore to refuel. It's only half a mile fom the site. Very handy. We're now back at the caravan and getting settled in for tonights stay before leaving early tomorrow morning for the Truma factory.

It's a typical Racecourse site so don't expect facilities to be up to normal Club standards but they will still be clean but perhaps a bit more old fashioned but far better than staying on a motorway service area!!! We liked the site when we stayed there. I have a review and some photos here

A spray of chain lubricant on the slides is all that is required for manual engagement. No need to crawl underneath. Is there nobody can do that for you if you are unable?
I have it added to the job sheet along with lubricating the slides on the spare wheel carrier. I am happy to pay although I am not charged being seen as a reasonable customer.
As an aside: There was an unreasonable chap giving hassle in the service department last year when I was collecting after a service. Because of his attitude when he asked to be fitted in for a small repair he was given a date a month later. When he had gone and I was being dealt with the receptionist said 'we could have squeezed him in: You did for Mr. T'. The service manager replied 'Mr T is reasonable'.

Now on a site in Lemgo, which is just a bit west of Hannover. Stopping here 3 nights to have a look around, do some shopping, and visit Hameln.
Now far enough north and west to be able to get BBC 1 via the sat dish.
Next we have a one night stop just before the Dutch border so we can be in Amsterdam before noon on Monday.
Our previous stop was for 2 nights on a site a bit south of Kassel, a bit further north than our original plan. It was on top of a hill and quite windy, we also had some heavy rain. Managed a day out locally , and plenty of rest to recover from the long drive.
Due to the slump in the £ against the euro, euro is now about 86p compared to 70p last May, we are finding things more expensive than usual, good thing diesel is less than at home.
Food prices in Germany are lower than or pretty similar to at home, sometimes things are less expensive, sometimes a little more, certainly lower than in Fance.
Tammygirl, I think the Lake Geneva area must be upmarket and especially expensive!
When we were in Switzerland a few years back, we noticed a lot of Swiss shoppers just over the border in Germany, Switzerland is expensive compared to Germany. In fact Switzerland is probably one of the more expensive countries in Europe, topped only by Norway.

Try the Marstons pub/restaurant if you want a meal out. It's got a horsey name I can't recall and is just beyond Tesco. They do BOGOF.

Rather dull and miserable day, Bit of shopping this morning, then popped into the polling station
then off to work.Heard from youngest son, he has now moved back into office next to the Manchester Arena, all glass was blown out and it has now been boarded up.
