Don't forget that at the time we'll be touring Scotland, especially the last three places, it will be close to the summer solstice, so daylight hours will extend until 11 p.m. So on the one night stops at Altnaharra, Kinlochewe and Brora, provided we arrive early in the afternoon, we'll have ten hours of daylight left to explore the area. That's a lot of possible sight-seeing time!

Yes, I noticed that too! We bought a jar of pickle from the craft stall and some Aqua Kem pink and blue for £10 from the leisure stall near the arena plus a new set of saucepans.

However, a new problem has emerged with the cassette toilet. The flush water leaks into the waste tank when the blade is closed. I'm not sure how that can be fixed. Any ideas?

There were a lot of people there that didn't seem to be CTers so we didn't know who to approach.

Do you mean the flush tank is leaking. Or water you have flushed into the bowl is draining into the tank? If the latter,  it should just be a simple case of cleaning up or replacing the sealing ring.I would first give it a good clean up and a coating of the Thetford silicone lubricant and see if that solves it, and if not replace the seal.

It's water flushed into the bowl that is draining into the waste tank. Maybe I can find a stall in the arena that sells what you suggest.

It rained quite heavily last night. The pattering of the rain on the roof was quite noisy and woke me up, so I got up and made a cup of tea and sandwich. Later, when it subsided, I went back to bed and soon fell asleep.

It looks like the sun is trying to come out once again. It's nice to have sunshine. It's just the heat that goes with it that's not so good!

No huskydog. This is my break from pizzas! One of the managers said to me that he used to love pizzas when he first started working there but you can have too much of a good thing until you eventually get sick of it! Now he says he only occasionally has one. By the way, you get a free pizza if you work more than 6 hours in a shift. So if you work full-time like the managers, you'd get a free pizza every day at work. Not exactly healthy eating though!

Glad you've had a lovely weekend with the family Millie.

Both our sons are away for the weekend, so no get togethers unfortunately.

I hope David has got through the Bristol/Weston bit early and can get back through it ok later. We had to leave the M5 at Gordano on Friday and use a back route to get round the jams (via the edge of Clevedon/Bridgwater)

The blade has recently become a bit wobbly. The seal looks ok. So it could be the blade thats not working properly. The blade is lower than what it used to be but maybe that could be due to a worn sealing ring.

The seal is easy to replace, instructions on Thetford website, I would try that first.

If the blade mechanism fails, you may need a new cassette, depending on what exactly has failed, that was what we had to do in France last year.

You can get what they call a "fresh up kit" from most accessory shops. This consists of a cassette, a new seat, and a couple of bottles  of cleaning stuff.

That was a pretty feeble excuse by Truma,

I bet they had it inside their workshop, where he staff are entitled to a certain minimum temperature?  Ours can be set down to 16 degrees, their wokshop would have been warmer than that or they would be breaking employment law.

A little tip for the future.......

Air con should be exercised regularly, even in winter, a few minutes every couple of weeks will do.  Your van will be warm inside,so no problem   making sure the air con is working.  To run ours when it is cold out, and we are not using the van, I direct a small fan heater at it till it warms up, then turn it on at the lowest temperature.

BTW......what exactly is this diffuser thing that keeps going wrong?

See above, looks like you can also get just the cassette on its own too.

We are just home from a lovely 3 night stay at Blair Drummond Affiliated site the weather was great all weekend ao I went a nice cycle through the foresr trails. Yesterday we went to Callander for the day great little town although it was very busy due to the nice weather. My sister and her family joined us with their caravan for the weekend they brought along their new puppy for its first caravan trip and she seemed to enjoy it. It was good having them there as we spent a lot of time in their van so ours was kept nice and tidy all weekend lol.

Walked into town for some bits. M&S doing 2 dine for £10 plus 2 dine for £6. Also had things we like in the offer. Spent £47 some odd got for £27 some odd. Did collect by car and continued shopping mainly bits for mother, bought other heavy stuff bird food washing liquid etc at the end before ringing hubby to pick me up from M&S so didn't have to carry anything very far to  get home! Result. 😂.

Back home few huge rain spots so got the very dry towels in. Had lunch in the garden. Despite having a storm during the night that seemed to go on for hours- but growly rather than huge crashes, with about 1/4 inch of rain the humidity hasn't subsided. It's very sticky and we're having more huge drops of rain that are very refreshing on the skin. Birds are singing beautifully. Ironing awaits 😲 nothing we need for funeral tomorrow so it can wait some more 😉 as can the vac-ing. I intend to have an hour or two to myself 😉😂

Malcolm I've reread your story. They were very quick with the repair! What did they actually do? (I don't want to know really but assume it was itemised and described on their bill?) If its the same again I'd be discussing it's failure this quickly,  it's not been 12 months having their bill in my grubby little hands and comparing it with ghis bill.  I wouldn't be leaving their service bay this time until I'd had a full demonstration that it is fixed and running and that BEFORE I settle the bill. Hopefully the warmth will continue and it will be an easy ask, but as others have said it's easy for them to heat the van before using aircon.

As Truma can't/won't fit in with your travel plans I'd definitely stay localish to the area to test it out and be back on the doorstep proto should it fail.

Save your Scotland tour for another time and do it justice. Even 10 hours of daylight won't given you a lot of sightseeing plus you'll have done hours of driving and towing and will have hours to do again. You'll also be much better off financially.  It'll take you about 23 hours to even what KjellNN reckons it'll cost in fuel. A very sobering thought in my world.

Have you thought about a Hippo Bag? Not sure how the cost compares viz a viz a skip but at least you don't have the time constraints.

Looked at those and not much difference in price , with the skip they will drop and collect the same day ,but the hippo bag is collected between 3-5days after booking the collection
