Yes I am sure you're right, but to make even more money why use a club site? when there are so many cheaper alternatives and so buy even more beer? A club site for four adults could be anywhere over £20/25 pounds a night? perhaps £30. Why not use a CL on £8? That's a few more cans of lager from the supermarket

No Tinny, 100% wrong. I was born and bred in Cornwall and can trace my family back to 1742 so far. I am tolerant because I have witnessed the cornwall I love being continually çhanged by incomer, and the comment was said with jest. I will quite happily accept your apology lol

Just because there are four men with a commercial vehicle, who probably are on holiday, but even if they are not, until they start driving round flipping tab ends onto the road, or have raucous lager fuelled singing of rude songs in their caravan till all hours, binge drinking or driving around the site learning out of the cabs wolf whistling and shouting to passing females (Ok equality and diversity males too) 'wow, fancy you darling, I'll show you a thing or two, come round to my van later', until they do this let them be ans assume they are just like any other camper on site. Of course when the start doing that the wardens can eject them and their membership rescinded just like anyone else.
Punish them after they have committed a crime not before.

Those 4 in their van would probably cause less bother than a group of friends, with their state of the art 4x4's, who spend all evening/night drinking together in an awning, following a BBQ, until well past 11:00, as has often happened.

Wow, being on holiday have only just picked up the inputs and certainly did not mean to offend or create any tensions. My observation was merely that we have a rule (10.3) that states that sites are only for recreational purposes and not trade and if we do not impose this would standards drop.
And for those who seem to want to shoot the OP, I was born into a council prefab and my first van was 20 years old and my car 15, so I assure you this is not said with any snobbishness on my part.

My wife and I stayed on a cl in Hampshire in February, there were two older vans on site pulled by white vans.
these arrived back at about 7.00 pm and left before 7.00 in the morning, they were as quiet as they could be with older diesels (!) and we never saw them the drivers.
The site owner said that taking trade workers in the winter helped with the overheads when bookings tended to be slow.
if this activity helps keep the CL numbers from falling then good on em. To hell with the discriminatory posts seen of late.

It does seem to be the case on many CL's these days. They are off early, seldom make a noise driving off, back latish, don't cause any problems. If their occupation of the odd pitch, especially in the quiet seasons, helps the CL owner to keep their price down so much the better.

what rule is this? I've just re read carefully the club rules and I can't find this 10.5? Section 10 is about barbecues. Are those rules for seasonal? If so these four gentlemen are not covered I assume?
I can't see any reference in the club site rules to commercial signed vehicles or any reference to non recreational use, perhaps some else can? So if it's not there I'm afraid that, according to you, standards will drop!

I think it's a bye law Corners. Sites only to be used for recreation. Nothing about commercial or sign written vehicles in the bye laws.
Sites can't be used for residential purposes either.
Any restriction on commercial vehicles had been dropped before we joined 7 or 8 years ago. I rang to check before joining in case I wasted my money

They are very practical vehicles. There are increasing sales as the manufacturers are adding more goodies to them. They are ideal for us. Essential for work then strip out the work kit* and they are perfect for leisure.
* not related to building in any way.

If anyone stays on any sites (all companies)in or around cities or large towns, there will be "workers" on the site who will go out before 0800 and return about 1700 for their recreation before heading off again the following morning ,and not all will have sign written vehicles

None unless there were clear terms and conditions that were appropriate. As terms and conditions seem almost impossible to find, not much chance that any could be enforced.

I think, to me anyway, I would intercept that as the use of a club site implies you are actually on site? If you're off site you have merely parked your van there an you're not using the site? So going off for the day to work is wrong? It is of course open to interpretation.
Well I'm guilty, I've gone to work from a site and I have in the past marked and now I'm writing reports on my computer at weekends, is that wrong?

When did the requirement to be proposed and seconded before one could join the Club get dropped?
