Winter Sun in spain
Hi
Thinking of taking the caravan to Spain for some winter sun in 2018 (Feb/March). Live near Portsmouth so would cross over to Spain from there.
Any ideas on areas where to go and any specific campsites with heated swimming pool indoor or outdoor. Will probably want to be away for 2.5/ 3 weeks.
Advice appreciated.

Totally agree with BB. We traveled down to Almeria at the end of last November, and back mid March. We had 3 stops in each direction, and I certainly wouldn't want to do the journey with less than 2. (In fact we took 8 days in each direction, and had some of the best weather at the stopovers in the Spanish interior!
Even down at the very south, January and February are unreliable for weather, and for such a short period (and cost) you could be unlucky.

All the info above makes sense and given by people who have been there, we have done three winters in Spain and always been away three months, the further south you go the warmer it get's but it's not guaranteed, the expense is to great for such a short time and the longer you stay on the sites in the winter the cheaper it gets per night.

Hi Frankie, With prices looking like £900 return for car and caravan and cabins on the ferry to Bilbao, taking 24 hours, and then a 600 mile drive from there down to the south of Spain.......or something like £50 return per person for a flight down to Malaga taking just three hours, I think the others are right in suggesting you leave the Caravan at home if it's just for a two week holiday. But enjoy your planning either way.

We left Portsmouth on the 8th January, returning from Santander on the 1st March. Apart from travelling across Spain, we only stayed at one campsite on a rally (the other club). Therefore, we had 6 weeks on La Manga. We had varied weather, snow at one point. However, we believe this to be unusual, as even in early February we were sitting outside without jackets during the day. Enjoyed it and going for longer this next winter. Bit of a long drive for 2-3 weeks.
