I do accept that on large sites early arrival might help the wardens keep the queues down through the day so do not object. Camping in the Forrest do charge for early arrivals though and I would do this on club sites although half a days fees looks too high. Possibly £5 or 10 would be enough but you would then get queues just before noon with people wanting to avoid the extra cost so you cannot win either way.

Late stays are covered in the rules so provided there is room for them they are in order.

Who was  the happy camper who arrived at the Buxton site last Friday at 11.20am ........I guess he thought he would get a flyer & be on site early doors.

He was still there at the barrier come 12.00 noon  , I guess the wardens aren't available all the time & have other more important things to do before 12.00 noon for the customers already on site .👍

If a site is half empty/full, it's  a Jobsworth that keeps people waiting outside till the stroke of mid-day like naughty school kids for no other reason than because they can.

Hopefully, like a certain airline, someone was not hauled off site screaming in order to make room.😉

However, more seriously there are only so many spaces, eventually they would have to refuse someone.

I understand wardens have been "advised" to be more flexible with arrival times "if conditions  allow"  but of course later departures are already covered by the rules.

You're most welcome. For what it's worth,  we're never organised enough to arrive early at a site.

Toilet blocks being shut for hours during the morning when it could be expected that people might want to actually use them is another topic ...

Most sites have alternative facilities  when main ones are closed, and even then they are open for about 22 hrs a daywink

The problem of arriving early and being allowed in is that there is a limited amount of choice of free pitches, at least when you arrive at 12, people who are leaving has left.

Perhaps I should have more specific & say shower block. And while a handful might have alternative showers, most don't

They recognise & log number plates JV, I think you're getting them mixed up with 'speed detection' ANPR is used widely around the UK now.
