Good luck with the new car, Triky! You're probably on your way to the dealer to collect it as I type this!

Congratulations on passing the MOT, HD. That will save you some expense. My car has failed both times in the last two years and each time there's an additional bill to pay to get the problem fixed!

The problem with that, EasyT, is that when the contract ends, the pay stops but unfortunately, the bills keep coming!

I got a phone call yesterday from the repairer. They said that a new skin had to be ordered from Germany for the door and that this would take 4 days. So it looks like we're going to be using the rented car for a while longer.

Tonight it's our Spring Quiz Night for Arthritis Research down in Chew Valley. We passed the £20000 raised over the years last time but I'm not sure how long we'll be able to continue. Sadly the committee lost another member this week. Although increasingly common, Arthritis is not a "fashionable" disease and it seems ever more difficult to attract younger folk (by which I mean under 60!) to support the charity. The Royal Wootton Bassett branch has already folded. So if you have a branch near you and you or a member of your family is affected by Arthritis, please give them your support.

Good luck with getting your watch fixed, ABM. It wasn't long ago when mine needed a new battery. Luckily, there's a Timpson in the Tesco Extra in Durrington next to the Caravan Club site so I was able to get it done there at a reasonable price.

A glorious sunny day here in south Cumbria.

Made even better by the fact that we're going away! Only for one night (and I'm not sure when we'll get away - too much to do here).

To Darwen (near Blackburn) and a night in a well known budget hotel. But the real treat is the Gig - Chris Difford (the lyricist from Squeeze). We both love his songs, either as solo or as Squeeze. A brilliant way with words.

And another treat - a sleep in! No getting up at 05:00 tomorrow. Thanks to our daughter in law and two grandsons helping out tonight and in the morning.

    A link to the website.

I just can't get these cheap flights. Just booked another 4 day trips for next week flying to Mallorca for just over £21 return then Barcelona the following week for an exorbitant £29 return but £8.60 flying out (How can it be so cheap and where does the 60p come from?). Cheap but great Ibis budget hotel to stay in as well for about 15/20 euros per person per night.

Won't  know  if  he did  a good  job  'til  tomorrow yell --  It  needs  a  radio  signal  at  03:00  or  thereabouts  to  give  it's  electronics  the  kick  start  it  needs  then  it  should,  I  did  say  should,  be  amenable  to  ones  delicate  ministrations.  Either  that  or  its  getting  a  short  trip  to  the  recycling  departmentsurprised  and  I'll  be  back  to  wearing  the  old  tick-tock  watch  --  the  first  thing  I  ever  bought  for  myself  after  I  started  working  in  1958  !!

Well  I  left  home  after  my  previous  post,  now  I'm  back  playing  'silly  soldiers'  on  'ere  with  the  injections  wearing  off undecided !!

    T'  dentist  found  a  tiny  wee  piece  of  the  first  tooth  so  he  removed  that  as  he  was  preparing  the  ground,  so  to  speak,  for  the  filling  laughing.  Filling went  OK  { Two  Of  Sand,  Two  of  Cement  &  a  Bucket  of  aggregate  please  Nurse  !! surprised }

Only  a  "Spring  Clean"  next  week  then  the  Dentistry  will  be  done  for  6 -- 7  months,  but  I've  got  to  face  the  Doc  &  Diabetes  Clinic  Nurses  over  the  next  fortnight  and  Brian  is  not looking  forward  to  that  one  iota.  I  can  see  a  right    ************  coming  my  way  !!

I take it you mean you are going on a "4 day trip", not on 4 day trips!

The in-laws seem to be fond of these short trips too, they are also retired teachers as it happens, but for the time taken with travel to and from airports,  and all the security  checks, I think I would be worn out afterwards!

As I understand it, they do not go for longer as they have a dog they need to have looked after.  Having asked about our trips, they are now wondering whether a MH would be worth considering   so they could take the dog with them.

I know what you mean, KjellNn. Sometimes you have to start the check-in process 2 to 3 hours before the flight. Long haul flights mean having to sit for 8 hours or longer on the plane in a cramped seat!

The only flight we have done in the past 8 years was for a 5 night stay in Oslo in December 2015, when I had to go over there to sign some papers.

We left home just after 10am, and were not at our nephew's house till after 7pm.

Flight was 2 hours, rest of the time was getting to and from the airports, hanging around, and getting through security.

At least we had good weather!

Lovely day here today, not sunny as such but dry and  fairly warmish. Made a start on the garden clearing plants and bulbs from the edges of the paths, now have lots of pots sat around the garden giving a temporary home until the new path goes down. Looks like it will not be Monday now, as the chap doing it is behind with his other jobs, due to the bad weather they have had while we've been away. OH not to happy about it but it will at least give us more time to get things prepared without knocking our pan out. OH has a meeting tomorrow anyway for his 'Men's Sheds' they are looking at getting some funding and have to 'pitch' their bid along with other groups looking for funding, so I will be gardening on my own tomorrow for about 4 hours smile washing to do and at some stage I will have to go food shopping. By the time I get through that lot I'll need another holiday wink still only 5 weeks then we should be away in the motorhome.

Can't complain at those prices, I take it you are finding these bargains online and they fly from Newcastle? I'm always a bit of a whimp when it comes to these offers, I just can't believe that they are going to be ok frown maybe one day I'll give it a go.

Another order come through, Macdonalds this time. It's now 6 p.m. so parking allowed in Chapel Road, awaiting collection there. A town centre delivery this time so shouldn't take long to do. We're due an early 7 p.m. finish today.

I think it's something to do with needing to fill seats during off season periods when fewer people are interested to travel to holiday destinations.
