Oh no! The lady in the next room has just come out onto their balcony in just her undies! surprised embarassed

Trouble is, she must be aged 75 if she's a day frown

Think I'll go inside rather quickly and get ready to go down to the bar for a pre-dinner snifter (or two)!

Well done Kj.  What a wonderful amount to have raised.smile

Hope the spring cleaning and gardening at your mother's went well Bakers2.  You will have earned your trip away.

Hope you have a good trip to Devon and Cornwall brue.  Seems like a lot of us are planning to go away.

Son and DIL brought their new puppy over to ours this afternoon to see how she and our 2 cats got on together.  I have to say our cats weren't too keen but we avoided all out warfare. laughing

Nice to see you back moulesy.

Great to hear from you Chris and thanks for your comments.  Glad you have had a safe journey home and pleased that the holiday was great.  Lizzie is also back from the vets today after being in for the last two days after an op to remove a leaking saliva gland.

Wow feeling rather tired. Blitzed mothers bedrooms hers in particular and went up the corners too in all the downstairs as well. She is 86 and allegedly has a cleaner, but but i don't think she has enough time, neither does my brother, but we can't persuade mother to have more and I don't think I'd want this cleaner anyway. Still she does keep on top of vacuuming and mum dusts. But mum says she has to watch her as she's heading off before her time! Still I've sorted it for a good few months. Hubby made great impressions on the garden. Again a gardener comes in but seems to only potter apart from grass cutting. She likes to keep her independent and we don't want 2 big gardens to do - plus we like to get away in the van and do long trips to NZ. Just waiting for our earlier prepared meal to cook.

Nice to see you back Moulsey, glad you had a good time. Plenty to catch up with 😉 at home and a bit on here.

Milliehull how lovely to have the family and the puppy to visit I just could be jealous 😂.

Ian not everyone gets that lucky 😂😂😂😂.

David got to hear Lizzie home, speedy recovery.

Went for a lie down earlier. I made a casserole up and put it in the oven. My spine and shoulder felt like I had been repeatedly rabbit punched and had a kicking. An hour and a half snooze, made the evening meal. Only ate half as I had too much to eat last night with friends. Feeling better now.

Thanks all.....it was an excellent reault.

OH prefers to check and stash the crockery in peace and quiet, so we were down there for 3 hours today.

There were coffee pots and other stuff to wash, and all the cups to be checked to make sure they were clean before being stored on trays.

While OH did that, I dismantled and stashed tables, and repaired a couple of other tables.

Not sure how much longer we will keep being involved, so next year we need to "pass on the knowledge" so others can be ready to take over.

We have been involved since our daughter was a Brownie, and she is now almost 32 and comes along to help, so probably about  time we called it a day!

Grey and damp here but still no rain or wet, we do need some! But double edged sword now as we're off on Wednesday staying in Essex. Still upside is I can clean the conservatory windows and that's them all done 😆. I know how to live 😂😂😂.  Open to any better offers  😉.

Need to walk into town to bank cheque from mother for getting her cash out - elderly parents ain't simple, sort of glad we've only got one now, but have an aunt I help too. I also have to post her easter parcel to NZ as woman in her post office wouldn't sell her the stamps as mum had taken the bits down with her had them weighed along with the envelope etc as she hadn't wrapped, but had taken the wrapping paper, because she'd need a customs declaration form but didn't offer her one 😯. I know you're thinking she could get her cash there but she feels to vulnerable to get cash as she doesn't know who's watching. Sad world! That local village stores and post office in next but one village has been raided 4 times in the last 2 years so hard to convince her the world is safe.

Also learnt yesterday she's to have a new water meter fitted as the reading meter on the wall outside, no I don't understand but apparently should be exactly the same as one under her sink! Didn't know that was there either and it doesn't.  Last bill estimated a minus reading last September but only be looked at now. We fell about laughing at how little she pays for water and sewage come to that but have no idea on metered water we are still based on rateable value. Suffice to say I thought the DD had decimal point in the wrong place 😂😂😂. There's always something new to entertain us in our world 😆

A  reasonable  day  up  'ere  in  the  County  Palatine  !!  It's  been,   and  still  is,  raining  quite  steadily.  For  this  reason  I've  been  spending  a  bit  of  time,  and  money,  paying  the  few  bills  I've  got  left  this  month.

Later  it's  supposed  to  dry  up  like  my  cash  flow,  but  I'll  nip  out  &  stock  up  on  some  tasty  fruit   { 5  a  day  rules  !! }  then  get  back  to  WORD  &  adding yet  more  of  my  old  slides !!

See  you  later,  keep  warm  &  dry  but  if  you  are  out  nip  into  Huskydog's  shop  &  try  for  a  Bonio  !!

We only found out where my mums was, when she got a bill for filling a large swimming pool. It seemed she had a leak. Fortunately from a bit of pipe the water authority took responsibility for, so she got all the money back. The thing I found strange was that on a building designed for the elderly, the meter was 60 cm down in a manhole. This took some prising up, then I had to bail the water and try and read it. This proved impossible as it was too far away without my glasses and I could not look through the right bit of my varifocals to see it. So OH, who is long sighted had to do it. How they would expect a 89 year old to check her readings is a mystery. One on the wall outside sounds much more sensible.

Thanks Millie. She's very quite and resting a lot, but seems OK. She has to go to our own vet on Wednesday for a post-op check, and then they will hopefully take the staples out the following Wednesday.

It's certainly raining here now Bakers2. I'm rather dreading going out (as I have to) a little later on.

I remember all the problems with elderly parents - I used to end up doing all my father's accounting for him.  He couldn't quite get Direct Debits and Standing Orders - I don't think he really trusted them.

My mother never wrote a cheque in her life - she would only deal with cashyell. MIL got to stage where she wouldn't deal with any of her finances so it was all down to us.  I do worry about older people who have no-one to sort all this out for them.

It is a wet grey day here. I didn't see the forecast so have washed all the towels and bath mats.yell  They are still sitting in the washing machine.  I might  have to put them on the airer in the utility room. Mr H went over to the storage compound with his hand held pressure washer before it started to rain.  He has washed and leathered the caravan but had to come home as it is now too wet to polish and wax it. Hopefully there will be a fine day later in the week.

The car repairer from our insurers rang this morning to say they'll collect the Smart car for repair between 08:00 and 13:00 tomorrow and the car rental will be ready from 15:30 this afternoon, all arranged by Lloyds Bank Car Insurance through Enterprise Car rental.

Strange weather here,  brilliant sunshine alternating with a black sky and rain or snow, plus very windy.

OH has the washing machine on using the solar power, will go in the dryer later  as we have to go out.

This morning I had to be at DD's house for 9 am as her husband's car was being picked up for repair, then I was back in time to carry all the money to the bank for OH.........all those coins were pretty heavy!

This afternoon OH has an appointment in the city centre, so I will drop her off, and pick her up when she is ready.  Much easier than trying to park somewhere, and a lot quicker than her using her bus pass.

    Was there much damage?

Considering the Smart is much narrower than most other cars, I am amazed anyone could manage to hit you when parked!

My MIL never wrote a cheque or dealt with household accounts. Held down a very high flying secretary/pa role all her life! She never wound her watch or cleaned her glasses. Hubby used to say to her face she'd be a nightmare if FIL went first - she'd just laugh. Luckily for us she did go first 😉.

Will you all please stop saying it's raining where you are- thank you. I was out for an hour and a half bumped into lots of folks out and back. Very slight mizzly rain couldn't even say drizzle once not enough to wet the pavement!  Now blowing really hard, enough to make walking home against it fun 😉 thus drying things out further. If you send you washing down here milliehull it'll be dry in minutes.....

Malcolm tumble driers are OK but not everything can be tumbled. If I were putting towels in I'd get the worse of the wetness out before tumbling.  Actually I don't think tumbled towels dry us as well when we use them.

Good luck with your car repair. You don't seem to have a lot iof luck. I suggest you go outside on the night of the next new moon and Thurnby your money over in your pocket. It may not work but  might help. 😉

It's always good to know you're not alone with this malarky 😂. Lucky to have someone to share it with hubby the only one so it would have all fallen on him 😲. She's very good for her age really but does need a bit of support or at least a sounding board. Not keen on my advice but if I tell my bother what I've said he repeats and suddenly it's a great idea 😉.

Reason I help an aunt by marriage is cos she has no offspring.  Mind you she's 10 + years younger than my mum but acts about that much older and is always gloomy.

In our road yjosr that have water meters seem to have the arrangements you describe for your mother's.  I don't know how deep they are though. According to mother they now don't have to lift the lid but just point a thing at it ???????? Not sure it will work if you have small well on top of meter.

It's just stopped raining and thus sun has come out. I wonder if it's too late to hang the washing on the line undecided. I do have a tumble dryer but am loathe to use it too often as it costs so much, especially bath towels and bath matssurprised

Bakers2 moulesy told me how to re-size the photos:

Right click on the photo (probably save it first) select the 'edit' option which will open a windows gallery at the  top of the page there is a 'resize' button which you click on. choose the pixels option and reduce the horizontal number to below 500. Click on OK at the bottom of the dialogue box.  Now close the changed version which should then automatically save it which is why you might want to change the original before editing otherwise you will lose it.

It's a bit of a faff but it usually works for me.

It had been raining in the Cotswolds since last night we managed to get ready for our move to here in the dry ,  but then nearly floated along the Foss Way,   and got a bit wet setting up on arrival , then it stopped about 1330 and the sun has been out since but we are still looking out onto a lake that is covering about a quarter of  our hard stand and most of the roadsurprised

Ps I think one of the toilet blocks is still owened by the caravan club as it still has a big club sign over the entrancewink
