European travel with a dog
We are regular travellers to France with our dog but this year were thinking of going further afield. We've been considering Italy, Germany or Switzerland.
What are the legal requirements with regard to our dog. I've searched online but would love to hear what you have to say.
Do you have any recommendations of good locations, sites etc?
thanks.

The legal requirements for your dog are just the same as for your visits to France which you have done before. But which you choose of the other three countries you mention is up to you. Some of us like one, some like another . Happy planning.

We have travelled in 14 Countries with friends and a Westie Dog. We on one trip did Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland,. Hungary, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic and had no problems. No experience of Switzerland but would not have thought much different. No cage and no muzzle needed. But some countries do like a dog muzzled on public transport so best to take one with you. There are a few Breeds not accepted which you could look up for each Country but they are the likes of Pit Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers and American Staffordshire Terriers so you would have no trouble with a Spaniel of any kind.MargaretW
In fact you have much more freedom in Germany. Austria and those other countries than in the UK. Being able to take them into Shops, Restaurants, Cafes etc.,

Glad I could help MargaretW Sorry the Westie was not mine but friends we were travelling with and it was quite a few years ago. This website http://www.howtogermany.com/pages/pets.html I am sure will help you. If you Google with country of choice followed by rules visiting with a dog you should be able to get the info for any country in Europe Hope this helps..

Margaret, The expiry date for your dog's rabies injection is whatever the vet has written in the dog's passport.
