Our son is a good 6 footer so takes the mickey I tell him to stand at the bottom of the stairs so I can box his ears 😂😂. Our daughter on the other hand is about 5'2" and our son in law is taller than our son. He refers to her as a hobbit 😢. Our eldest granddaughter is going to be like her dad she's not 3 until next week and as tall as our son's hips when he was over in January. I reckon all good things come in little packages 😉.

We were supposed to finish at 20:00 and so were just leaving for home when 4 minutes later, the boss sent a message to say could we do just one more order as he was in a meeting and so couldn't do it himself, so now we're back at Macdonalds in the town centre to collect another order. So it looks like a 21:00 finish tonight.

Been at DD's house for about 7 hours today and do not feel I have achieved much!

I had made her 2 pot lid racks, which were well received, and a wooden stand for her Kenwood  mixer, which was also appreciated.

I also took down the extra shelf she had requested, but it turned out that she had measured wrong so I had to take it home again to cut.  That allowed me to bring down my workbench so I could alter her plinths, which were a little too big so difficult to take off and put on.

Meantime DD and OH went off to Ikea to look at drawers.  Now I have finished her tiling, she has decided I need a new project, so she wants me to make "plinth pods".

These are boxes which sit behind the plinth and contain drawers, the plinth is cut to make the drawer fronts.

She was hoping the Ikea drawers could be used, but they turned out to be too deep back to front, so now plans to source runners  and sides, and I will cut bases and backs. It all sounds like a lot of work!

They returned from Ikea with a carload of free melamine faced boards and good hardboard, which I will use to make the "pods" from,  and also some hinges which she wanted changed.  Turned out to be the wrong hinges, so after a late lunch they had to go back for the correct ones.

Boards were transferred to our car to come here for cutting and assembly........once I have figured out how big everything needs to be, which will take me a while.

Correct hinges and cut down shelf were fitted, but not much to show for all that time there!

Well, they do say that once you are retired you wonder how you ever had time to go to work!

We will be off o holiday in just over 5 weeks time, and away for about 12 weeks, so plenty of time to rest soon.

I quite enjoy keeping busy, just wish she would spread it out over the year a bit more evenly.

Oh....and.......with all these trips to Ikea, OH is now talking about getting a new kitchen.

We do need a new oven, but the kitchen is only 30 years old.  innocent

KjellNN : you have been busy, you will need that holiday for a nice long rest.

We bought our new kitchen from Ikea last year, fitted it ourselves,  we had to make several trips back and forth as some of the doors were wrong size and then we hadn't ordered enough of some fixings. They were always very helpful. We didn't buy our oven and hob from them but that's because I wanted a Neff one.

Today it's pouring down and really windy, No work on wall today. May visit the retail park for a bit of retail therapy undecided checking the bank balance first laughing

After we finished the extra order, he asked us to do one more saying that it was on our way home so the extra money would help pay the fuel for my return journey as the delivery was to a customer in Lancing and so higher delivery fee. So we did it! In the end it was just after 10 p.m. when we got home. Today is supposed to be a 7 p.m. finish so hopefully we will get away on time tonight!

    Which oven did you get?

OH has looked at ovens and fancies a Neff with the slide-away door.

Since she had her shoulder replaced she has problems reaching to put things into and take them out of our current oven, which has a drop down door.

However, if we end up going for a new kitchen, there is talk of a double oven, no idea if they come with the slide away doors.

Going to think about it while we are away, discuss possible layouts,  decide whether it is a good idea, there will be a lot of upheaval involved in a new kitchen, a lot of mess.

I had a spicy Italian sub at Subway for lunch and this was followed by our first order, a Macdonalds order which we have completed delivery of. No more orders for now, so we're parked by Broadwater Green waiting for the next order.

The weather doesn't seem to know what it wants to do today. One moment it's pouring with rain and the next moment blue sky and sunshine then it quickly clouds over for another short sharp shower!

    DD usually means 'Darling Daughter'.

Prefer a drop down oven door as, if required when taking things out of the oven, I can rest stuff on there.

I can recommend Neff appliances Kjell. Our first dishwasher was a Neff, we had it 27 years! Our second was a Smeg, that lasted 11 months! We got our money back and bought another Neff. Had other Neff stuff as well, very good.

Our oven/cooker is 68 years old. We still have the original guarantee (for ten years) but it's never broken down. Occasionally it needs servicing - involving my husband a hammer and a big Vax vacuum cleaner.

Just back from having a nosey around the C&CC site at Canterbury (just joined) . Did notice the split between mh,S and vans was about 60/40 in favour of mh,s I can see another rebrand in the making ,this time to MCC.That will certainly annoy certain gent's when 200+units rock up at Lord's for a rally in the summer.laughinglaughing.

We decided on the slide away door oven, very pleased with it so far.

Our kitchen is only small so being able to slide the door under is useful as it doesn't then get in the way.

Ikea also have a great online kitchen planner which we found really useful when planning the layout and deciding what we needed.

Just completed our second delivery of the day: an order from Capital Vapes for a packet of cigarettes for delivery to an address just outside the town centre. Now we're back to parking at Broadwater Green awaiting our next order. It seems a quiet day today. A lot of hanging around with nothing to do!

Not just food delivery then Malcolm. I would have expected a firm called Capital Vapes to have E-Liquids etc rather than packs of cigarettes.

Would that be something like a Rayburn or Aga Goldie? Both excellent. We holidayed in a cottage in the wilds of Dartmoor with an old Aga. I loved it, casserole in one oven, pudding in another, boots in warming oven drying out, four pans on hob, coats over front rail, and dog simmering dry laid against it! Multi purpose indeed!

Ventured down to the local retail park, very busy! But then it's free parking unlike in town.

Managed to buy, a jumper, long and short  sleeved tshirts, pack of 3  boot socks and a scented candle for £20.50 at Primark. Then ventured into the new M&S , not very impressed.

It's stopped raining now so going to fill the bird feeders up, the pigeon's and magpies have eaten everything again!

We find that it's the ruddy Grey Squirrel that does for us. I usually feed the birds before sitting down at the kitchen table for breakfast and enjoy watching the free display. Great way to start the day. Unfortunately, we can also see the advance through the woods at the back of us of the grey pest, sometimes joined by one of his mates, they then either drop straight into the garden or rush along the fencing panels to get to the really good stuff near the back door. It's then a battle with me shooing them away and wishing the Blackbirds etc would get a move on and eat their fill before Mr.Nuisance comes calling again. If apples are out he'll take one of the quarters and run off to the trees.

Talking to a friend about them and he told me he shoots them and that stops them. As much as I dislike them I couldn't actually shoot the buggers. Noticed that recently they were asking for people to volunteer to trap them and one of the nature organisations would show you how to humanely kill them if you wanted to. This to try to bring back our native Reds, which I wouldn't mind feeding at all.

Packing the van between the rain and snow showers today. Always enjoyable when the van doors are open.

Been down to one of the shopping complexes for meals for MIL. When we're away for a while I'll cook enough to supply 3 meals a week and put them in the freezer but we're only away for the 4 nights and she's eating out on one of the days at a special International Womans Day Charity Do, think it's Wednesday.

Yes, it's an old solid fuel Aga. Mostly I love it, but it does have its drawbacks.

The temperature can't be changed instantly, but you get used to turning it up the day before cooking a lot etc.

It has it's off days - maybe if the wind is wrong, or the coal man has changed the coke/anthracite.

Cleaning/servicing the innards means leaving it to cool down (24 hours) then relighting and waiting another 12 to 24 hours to get up to temperature.

But my main moan is about the dust! It has to be filled twice a day, and riddled and the ashes removed once a day, which makes keeping any surface dust free impossible. So I don't try!

I occasionally threaten it by looking at images of modern electric ranges. But it doesn't care!

Rather ominously, we haven't seen our resident squirrels for a couple of weeks now. Usually see them around more in Winter, as easier to spot with no foliage. They are a bit of a pest, but they have lived in trees at bottom of our  garden for years and we have learned to get on together. Just hope they are ok, and no one has hurt or killed them.
