The cost on 1. The stickers, 2, sending them out with a covering letter alone and not including it with either the latest mag or the site directory.
3. The cost of changing all the signage, uniform and website etc.
It is absurd and to think that the general membership was not consulted and how much of my membership fee and bookings will be blown on this.
New logo is awful, stickers went straight in the bin.
If the club are struggling to to bring in new members and revenue then how about visiting the price structure and make it more attractive.
Disgusted by the waste of club funds, I don't mind what it is called but don't waste my money on it.

SORRY MISSED A WORD OUT ON THE LAST DISCUSSION.
EUREKA I KNOW THE REAL REASON FOR THE CHANGE
REMEMBER THE LAST NONSENSIBLE ANTIC OUR HIERARCHY PERFORMED........THE COMPETITION, WHERE SOMEBODY, WHO SHOULD BE NAMELESS, RUINED HIS EXPENSIVE CARAVAN DOING SOMETHING A BEGINNER WOULDN'T HAVE DONE???
YES HE'S PROBABLY GOT A MOTORHOME NOW!!!!!!!OH YES! I HAVE JUST STUCK AN OLD STICKER ON BACK OF MY CARAVAN. LOOKS GREAT WITH THE CHEERY RED PENNANT!

I would of thought that with a bit more thought, and consultation with the members that a better logo could of been chosen, may be some one was eating a nice scoop of walls ice cream at the time !.
How come nothing was said In advance, first I heard about it was at the first day at the show, then at midday an e mail, shouldn't the members had a chance to have there views heard. May be if we all had time to go to the AGM, may be we would of found out or not.
As I have not received my March magazine, may be this is the new look club, things going wrong ?

Sorry Harvglenn but most of the motorhomes I have seen do have cars with them along with canopies that extend just as far as awnings. What about the "drive-away" awnings that motorhomers use ??
Seems to me the answer is in your own hands ----- buy a car and caravan !!!

until this thread began, I was blissfully unaware of the bitterness some caravanners seem to have against motorhomers and vice-versa. Come on folks, we all have one thing in common, it's just that some like to drive their home-from-home and others prefer to pull theirs behind them. Can we not just celebrate the great outdoors and enjoy our great hobby together?

There is not any bitterness towards Motor Caravans(proper name) i think a lot of the feeling of inferiority is since the name was morfed by "marketing" a motor caravan as a "home?",motor caravans have been welcomed into the caravan club since 1962 as part of the caravan fraternity ,which as the majority on ct and facebook cannot understand the need for a "re brand"

Anyone else noticed that the new site directory cover has a photo of a single motorhome (sorry motor caravan)....not very inclusive !!...
And to be clear (using the current trending phrase)..The only bitterness I have towards Motor Caravans is when one parks up aside me, blocks out the sun all day and then up sticks at 6-0am the next morning...

Yes it's been noticed by many and does it really matter to your enjoyment!

Find a field on your own, this is a club for all leisure vehicles and I'm sure caravans can equally block sunlight and uproot early hours also. Just why the animosity towards Motorhomers! Same idea just a different way of touring where one sets down for longer and the other moves on more frequently.

Bitterness? For goodness sake!
I am sick of seeing anti MH posts. I find it offensive so intend to start reporting them.
Thankyou for your straight speaking, Dave. Some people are so self centred.

When/If I get a new handbook (.................coming soon I am told ... ) I would not really think 'Oh look it has a motorhome on the cover'. I would just notice a leisure vehicle.
Caravan, motorhome, trailer tent ? What does it matter?

I think there would have been little point in the Club changing its name to the Caravan and Motorcaravan Club because the potential customers it is trying to attract own a motorhome. OK it might be a play on words but all hobby related magazines refer to them as motorhomes as do all manufactures. I think the sooner we accept that the quicker we can move on. The Club in deciding to use the term motorhome is not only accepting the status quo but looking forward not back. If we are trying to be inclusive, which I imagine the rebranding is all about, people arguing that it should be called a motorcaravan are not really helping the situation.

The Youth Hostels Association (YHA) years ago decided to keep the same name and brand and badge, but changed its hostels enormously - the condition of them, their rules and regulations, and the way they were staffed and run. As a result they have radically broadened their customer base.
Instead of making those changes the Caravan Club has changed its name and logo. Just that.

Perhaps I am being overly optimistic but surely we should see the rebranding announced on 21st February as a first step? If in a year's time nothing of note has changed that is the time to start demanding firm answers. As a motorhomer two simple things would go a long way towards satisfying my demands, 1) an acceleration in the installation of the new style motorhome waste points and 2) The ability to be able to book a hardstanding pitch. I appreciate the the first one does not offer anything to caravanners but the second point would be a benefit to all.

DK. Wait and see is one thing, but an announcement from the Chairman or the Director General of the direction of change and a broad outline of the way ahead would be welcome. That's what the company you used to work for has done very recently.
It's all very well the PR people proclaiming that "This is the new us..." but that doesn't cut much ice. I am waiting for a professional explanation of what the management, backed by the Board, has in mind to broaden the customer base and take the business forward. I presume they have a plan. Set it out.

I much prefer hard facts and reasons rather than fluffy PR as I appreciate being treated as a grown up and would prefer hard headed facts and reasoning. I don't have concerns about the change of name which I think is a good idea. However the Club have made their decision and the point I was making is that we will have to wait a while before we can really judge how successful it has been. Looks as though this year's AGM could be quite crowded!!!

You motorhomers are all the same David!! Want, Want, Want!!
Seriously I think many of us no matter our outfit David would wish to book hard standing, And yes the motorhome waste ought to be tackled within 12 to 24 months as the funds are there.

Well one thing has been "succesfull" and is continuing to be, by the way things are going , is that the overheads are being "reduced" with the amount of sites that have closed or left the network ,and if the trend continues as some recent posts mention come true, then maybe thats where the money for the "ice cream re brand"is coming from
