I agree with you. I don't think this has been the best use of cash. I didn't see an need for the renaming but all that was needed logo wise was a slight tweak, keeping the red pennant with horse shoe design with an M inserted between the two Cs would have done the trick and also kept a logo which was immediately identifiable with the club.
The new design is in my opinion horrendous and anyone seeing it would not link it to a caravanning and motorhome club. I watched the video explaining how the logo came about and the only way to describe it is "nonsense".
If the club thought that a new logo was needed would it not have been a better idea to ask the members to send in their own ideas for a new logo and the designer of the one chosen be given vouchers for free nights at club sites.

I do not like the sneaky way the club has changed its name. Dread to think what a few people may do without consulting members, Always thought we lived in a democratic club ,yet no vote was given to the members about the name change. Looks like we are not a club but a dictatorship. Heaven help us.

Regarding the change in 'The Clubs' name and the comments about the amount this must have cost with creating the new 'branding', which is likely to have been considerable, I wondered just how much value for money the club got for designing the new, and awful, logo. Since the announcement that logo has been bugging me in that I've seen it before, or certainly similar. So I did some 'Googleing' and look what I found. In my opinion it didn't take much to come up with that logo!! value for money? No way.

After 110 years the cc as ended, we are no longer the oldest club.
On the 21st of February 2017 a new club has started in its place.
There are some members out there that were proud to be a member of the cc, but the way they that the cc have gone about the rebranding is atrocious but I suppose we will have to like it or lump it. I will not be getting rid of my old cc stickers the new ones that have being forst upon us are in the bin.

The club benefits because there are substantial numbers of members who only remain members to access the CL network.
We don't use club sites (well once or twice a year perhaps) but we do use CL's and take the specialist insurances only available to members. However on this last point the other club also have these insurances and by taking them rather than the CC insurance is how I intend to express my dissatisfaction, not by leaving the club.
I also think it's a poor show to tell people (not you HD) to just leave if they don't like it. Some of us not only have been members for a long time but have rather more backbone than to go off quietly into the night with our collective tails between out legs.

What new set up? Sites are the same, CL network still the same.Still get a magazine.
As for stickers, why display them anyway? It's not as if they give you discounted parking or free entry to places of interest. If you don't like them, don't display them.
As for those members who believe they belong to a club or think that members are the club, it's no different to being a 'member' of a gym, you don't have any right to change the running of it, you just have access to their facilities.
Time to get over it and get on with it.

if the club really are looking to appeal to young families surely the money spent on this pointless rebrand could be spent on making more sites family friendly, more children's play areas perhaps games rooms, better wi-fi, also the money could be spent trying to get the prices of new caravans down as they are racing up to beyond working families pockets, seems to me to becoming a rich persons past time with a new car and caravan now heading north of forty grand, thus pushing up used prices beyond ordinary working families .
What about the diesel issue, i suspect a really large majority of caravaners tow with a diesel car what stance are the club going to take on this, are we all to try and tow with nissan leaf's pulling trailer tents, not listed in the rebrand, banning of some diesels could prohibit membership to the club altogether for some
Seems to me there are countless ways the money could have been spent rather than getting up the majority of members backs.
So why waste money, our money, on a pointless rebrand that it appears very few want.

I think you have promoted me above my station in life I don't know as a fact but logic suggests that site staff would have had to have had prior knowledge as they had to change signage of sites and it has been reported here they distributed goody bags on the morning to members on site to inform them of the change. Likewise I imagine the same would apply to HQ staff as so many elements of the various departments within the Club HQ would have had to prepare for the change. I repeat again I don't know any of that as fact or have insider knowledge but it would suggest if you follow the logic of the size of this sort of change that would be where it would take you. It's worth bearing in mind that whilst Club Staff are contractually tied to the Club in terms of confidentiality I expect CL owners are not.

Thinking of better ways of spending money and encouraging newer members, especially families, are the following summertime daily prices for two adults and two kids an attractive proposition?

Cheddar £34.70 Exmoor House £34.60Yes, these are among the best and most expensive sites, and yes, there are many cheaper alternatives, but how about giving families a break and curbing the summer-time price premium. Can a family of four on a budget afford £565 for a couple of weeks in the New Forest in the school holidays?

Dave, we've been here many times before and seen examples of other (commercial) sites in those same areas charging much, much more (as well as some less of course). The point is that club fees are pretty competitive for families in JulyAugust.
Have a look at what Sandy Balls charges for a fortnight in August if you're looking at the New Forest!!

My point is that money would be better spent making summertime site fees more attractive to young families working on a budget by easing off on the school holiday premium. Commercial travel companies really rack up prices during the school holidays. The club has the opportunity to differentiate itself by not being so greedy. Of course this is not so popular with members who can holiday at any time because they might have to pay a little more. Without Millenial members we are just a club for ageing Baby Boomers. That is what we need to think about.
I probably should not have wandered off onto the contentious topic of site fees. Please forgive me. I have provided a good excuse to lock the thread because it has gone of topic Best we leave off.

I knew there was something I was missing on my stays on sites. Pioneering! I guess this means digging my own latrine hole, collecting wood and cooking on an open fire. I am already simple so no change there. I have always felt included as a motorhomer.
Too many admen buzz words.
(I cannot get over "pioneering" in reference to modern vacationing,sorry.)

To all CC club members,
Having followed this thread since Tuesday this week it has been obvious that there are many members, myself included, who are not happy with the way the 'Club' has conducted itself in the change of name and logo without consultation. Many have said that although they disagree with the changes they feel there is little that can be done. This maybe the case but we must make sure the hierarchy are aware of our annoyance of such a fundamental issue.
In view of this I have started a petition which you can access at www.petitions24.com/red_pennant. To be completely legal you will need to insert your membership number in the box provided along with your name etc. Please be aware that your membership number will NOT be displayed and will only be shown once the petition has ended.

The £14 special rate is for a grass economy pitch without electric.
These are different to the 'tour for £12.50 sites' (or whatever the price is this year, I haven't the new book yet) which are volunteer run sites with electric but no toilet block.

Nobody asked me! I think the new logo looks like an amalgamation of Mo Farah's celebration gesture and the Mazda car badge. The club also welcomes fifth wheelers, trailer tents and camping on some sites so why aren't they included in the new name? As a member for over 42 years, I for one, do not intend to display the new stickers which have been sent (at great expense?) to every member. Luckily I have a small stock of the old ones.
And what about Centre Flags? yet another expense to replace them as part of this uncalled for 'rebranding'
