The same Club, just better...

How do u know the majority of members don't like it, I assume the mean the majority of posters on this tiny forum which cannot claim to be representative of the membership, it's just the same people shouting loudest.
as for it being such a major change....is it really. A new modern logo and a slight chance of name that now includes a group people who seem to one of the most popular forms of units i.e. Motorhomes..

This is a very sad day for Caravanners. The requirements of Caravanners and Motor Caravanners are very different as we have discovered over our 35 years of owning and using a caravan, and I suspect that this will change will not benefit the caravanning members of the club!
More importantly I am intrigued as to how this expenditure on a totally unnecessary re-naming and re-branding has taken place without any consultation with members as to how club funds should be spent.
The club has catered for Motor Caravans, Tents and Trailer Tents in addition to Caravans ever since it became a condition of the site licencing regulations back in the 1980’s, so to me this is a totally worthless and frivolous waste of money.

My official letter and stickers arrived this morning.
I actually like the change and the logo (although personally I would have made the logo a bit bigger). In reality, I think the proof of how sucessful or not this change has been will be in what happens next.

Of course it isn't relevant but EasyT was responding to my post where I suggested it was the same old. He made the point that a lot of you aren't regulars. Calm down and carry on.

On such a major change as this, why were members not asked? Personally I object strongly to the change, which apart from the money being wasted on rebranding, is totally unnecessary. Why do the committee wish to abandon our history ?. As a member for 25 years, I am totally against this change and ask other members of like minds to protest and ask for a vote on this change.

I see no difference in needs apart from fresh and waste water, for these MH's need a drain to drive over and a tap they can attach a hose to, caravanners need a drain to tip a wastemaster into and a tap to sit the aquaroll under. Apart from that the needs are the same, a flat level pitch, EHU, toilet/showers etc.
Why should club consult members on hoe the money should be spent, we would all have different ideas and nothing would get done, there are committees and boards to take care of that by elected members who you as a member elect. rather like the government, we elect them to make decisions on our behalf and if we don't like it we kick them out after 4 or 5 years, if you think its all been a waste and you as a caravanner are being hard done by at the expense of motorhomers then you get a vote like the rest of us !!
1 -
You get a vote to elect the members of the board and committees, did you not exercise your right?
The history is still there, nothing has changed except the name and a logo and lets be honest the old one was crap anyway.
Whatever you think its here to stay so get over it and worry about something you may be able to change, but remember change suits some and not others and you will never get it 100% perfect for everyone.

I am not happy with the change of name. As a long time caravaner I find that motorhomes are dominating the sites and getting preferential treatment. There are sites with a view where tents with awnings are not allowed at the front so they are filled up with huge motorhomes which block out the view. It is most unfair if you are there for a week's holiday and the motorhomes come and go on short stays. Please give the caravans some rights back and not give all the best pitches to the motorhomes.

I see no benefit in the change. As an ex-motorhomer I was well aware that the organisation catered for all caravans with wheels even before I first used a motorhome.
During this my second membership tenure I can see that there are far more important tasks to occupy the staff than this costly and so far incomplete rebranding exercise.

If you are talking white house beach I believe caravans are allowed on the front but not allowed to erect an awning. I am not sure why this rule, maybe its safety or a condition of the site lease but it has been in place many years and is irrelevant to the new name.
As for best pitches form MH's, the good thing about the club is its first come first served so no one gets priority, the only exceptions I know are for registered disabled people are normally pitched near the facility blocks and for large/over sized units may be reserved a pitch to suit the size of vehicle and that can be either a MH or caravan.
I think one of the reasons for the change in name is the number of MH being sold now and the move towards them both by older people and youngsters who do not want to tow. I know many dealers are struggling to get enough second hand MH's as they are taking in lots of caravans in PX but not MH's, though tat will no doubt level out once the current wave of buyers change to a new MH.

The future is bleak, sites will move over time to places nearer to bus routes and towns, all the caravan pitches will be taken by seasonal lets and statics with a few pods to fill the corners, the CL network will be left to dwindle down, I for one will never enter my caravan details into their computer, what about us all becoming motor-homers on paper at least it might stop the pitch allocation,👍

I don't see a problem with the Name & Logo change. Many businesses do this throughout their lifetime to better reflect what they actually do!!!!

Which planet do the club management live on! A bland boring logo - keep the old one. What a load of nonsense and and the change will cost a fortune, money better spent on keeping cost of sites/membership down and improving the booking website.

Hi Caravanbreak,
The Executive Commitee, who are Club members that are elected to represent the membership were fully involved in this project every step of the way.
The Committee have fully endorsed the changes we’re making. In fact, they were a vital part of this whole process, helping us better understand what our members want.

What pitch allocation. I only got a MH last June and every CC site I have been on since I take the choice of pitch available when I arrive just the same as I did when I had a caravan.

I do wonder if the Committee new what the members wanted? I doubt that many wanted the meaningless buzz words. Not sure how many wanted a name change for that matter

I do think all this doom & gloom talk of a sad day for caravanners and a bleak future is a bit OTT to be honest. Personally I believe the rebranding was unnecessary, but as long as it doesn't have a detrimental effect on my useage of club sites I can live with it. And I'm guessing that, although undoubtedly expensive, the sums involved would not go far towards the acquisition of a new site or even the major upgrade of an existing one.
Anyway, I'm pleased to say that my letter and stickers have just dropped through the letterbox - enclosed in an envelope proudly bearing the logo of ... er ..."The Caravan Club" and with a return address to match. Now that's going to confuse the postman down East Grinstead way for sure!

The only allocation that I am aware of is when it rains heavily and caravans may be directed to use grass to leave hard standing for motorhomes. Only happened to me twice. First time I looked at the grass pitches, returned to reception and asked for a refund as I was not going to spend 5 nights using a muddy and already cut up pitch. Instead I was directed to use a hard standing.
The other occasion the warden said that he would be grateful if I used grass. Having viewed the site I chose one of a fair number of hard standings and set up. The warden seemed surprised until I pointed out that I had not been directed to use grass and had no reason to want gratitude if that meant a saturated pitch.
Sad to say but, in my view if a pitch is not suitable for a 3.5 tonne motorhome then it is not suitable for me and should be closed and those with bookings advised as early as possible.

Moulesy, I'am with you on this , not sure that the CC really needed to "re brand" but let's hope they now put into action all they promise.

They haven't promised anything though. Only wifi across the network as far as I can see.
There's a load of guff about the great outdoors and shared values but not one actual firm indication of how they intend to change.
Personally I don't share the values and I'm not interested in the slightest in the great outdoors so I'm waiting patiently for some facts. The next round of management speak will see me spit my dummy out though

A club means a collection of like minded people, we pay for this club, but I don't remember being asked to spend our money on what is probably an expensive design team to come up with a new logo when the old one is recognised throughout the UK and beyond. Like so many rebrandings, it is a waste of time AND money that could have been spent on real issues like the closure of club sites and fixing the broken webs site and app.
The executive need to get their priorities right. Fix what is broken and leave what is working - in a nutshell IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!

Hi Simon100,
You raise a valid point on the issue of diversity. The aim of this rebrand is to change perceptions and encourage a more diverse group to join us in our hobby, and to make sure that those who already enjoy our hobby feel included and welcome.
We’re an inclusive community that will always treat all members equally, and we want that to be reflected as we move forward.

I suggest the Executive Committee don't understand at all what the members want as the overall majority of people in this discussion seem against the change if only because of what it has and will cost. Remind me again how much it will be, oh no one will tell us that.

I can see why the club has changed its name because the number of motorhomes has risen as a proportion of members and it does make the position clearer.
To be honest the old logo was perfectly good and the new one looks meaningless. I would have changed the name but just put the club name under the pennant which is far more interesting than the new logo.
