The same Club, just better...

It seems to me that the awful, really awful corporate BS that is so much a part of this re-invention of our club, has caused the most resentment from some members, and it is so unnecessary.
Many of us abhor such crap in their working lives or have left it behind since retiring and hoped never to have to face it again.
The Club needs change but this is not the way to do it. People who love the outdoor life are NOT impressed by meaningless mission statements cloned from the business world. We need something more tangible and I hope the Club seriously takes note of the feelings expressed in this discussion
I also think an entirely new logo may be a mistake and the red pennant, so well known, should have been incorporated. I see no need to spend Club money on "re-branding".9 -
When was I asked for my feedback?
I don't recall being asked by any one form the "Club" or my "representatives on the Committee" for my opinion at any time. The first I knew was when I got the email at 12:08 today (21/2/17). Nearly 2 hours AFTER Joe Public gets to know.
When will someone have the guts to tell us exactly how much this ridiculous exercise has cost US the MEMBERS who have not been consulted about how our money is spent by OUR Club.

It would be nice if the club announced their plans for improvement on club sites and not just wow! Look at the new logo.
I have not seen one mention of any plans to improve any sites or the way bookings are handled.
As a member of a club I would expect improvements for our benefit.
It does seem as the club is run as a corporate business.
But hey what do I know?
2 -
Yes it might, but not for long as here will not be enough people to keep the club viable

I was a member as a caravaner in 1970s, I rejoined as a motorhomer in 2016 but never felt part of the club now, with this change, I feel part of the most important and significant club in the U.K.
Not only will the change make me feel more welcome in the club it will send a powerful message out to businesses, government and other authorities as to who we really represent and the importance of OUR organisation

Seems that most club sites, presumably the biggest money spinners for the company (sorry, club), are closed until March so why would the club (sorry, company) bother to produce it's new handbook for customers (sorry, members) until then.
Just glad I'm not a CL or an advertiser hoping to get early year business from the handbook!

Lucky you my email arrived at 12.31🙄

Exactly which members were consulted? I certainly wasn't. If you show the logo to someone would they know what it meant? Why were members not asked to vote on this? Why the big announcement? Someone on an ego trip spending many thousands of pounds on an unnecessary exercise. Ifvthis Club was run for its members they would have been included in any discussion. I certainly wont be displaying the logo.

We're also relatively new (4 years) to both the Club and Motorhome ownership (and also to the 'other' Club). We've been maintaining membership of both, partly to compare them, and partly to give us a choice when touring.
I have to say that 'the other Club' often seems more tuned to member's needs, whereas, at times, this Club seems as if it's run for the convenience of the on-site staff - and to impose rules strictly just because "those are the rules".
The new logo is meaningless and a waste of money.
The name change seems sensible, but need not be so high-key and could have just been brought in gradually.
The 'Mission Statement' is just 'PR speak' and meaningless.
It sounds as if the treatment of CLs has been worst than thoughtless - absolutely appalling!
And the whole thing must be costing thousands that could far better have been spent on improving facilities, etc..
In summary - a huge waste of OUR (Members') money!!

13:14 for me......first I heard of it! Like the vast majority have said......What waste of our money But what would we know, we all loved the T V program didn't we???
Now we have something else to defend the Club over
still defending the indefensible!!!
1 -
And another thing..An email to me from the club suggesting that something exciting was happening included the following slogan:
"Open your doors on great"
Ah, well. That's great.

Rochelle, That is still no more than 'PR Speak'! We want some concrete examples of what the Club is actually doing (or proposing) to improve the web-site, the actual sites & facilities, etc. etc..
The more meaningless PR-speak you put out, the more we think this is all just a total waste of members' money.

After today it will be back to normal, all you once a year moaners will crawl back into the woodwork and it will be business as usual. With any luck some might review their membership and never be heard of again, whoever is left then happy holidays
By the way, brilliant logo and re-branding, caravanners and motorhomers both of equal status.
I just love it.

£1000's?? Five or even six figures more like
Signage for Club sites, affiliates and Cl's and installing them
Corporate uniforms for wardens and name badges
Letter headings
business cards
Membership Card artwork fees, scrapping off surplus stocks
Brochure reprints
Consultancy fees
Research costs...........quite cheap really
Third Party costs
And for why again? I thought caravans and motorhomes already were members
3 -
What a total waste of money! Why weren't members consulted.
3 -
so you've changed the name of the club? and where was the consultation done with its members? when did you send out any questionaires to us fee paying members? an why when you are sending out the monthly magazines didnt you include anything in that to get our views BEFORE just railroading us into something you will find most of us don't agree with
once again this club has nothing to do with thing for the good of its members its purely about cashing in to the max
1 -
since when did "customers" pay a joining fee? members pay that, but seemingly we are treated with little to no respect at all and even worse than that treated as an after thought! to be told of this name change via another forum, an not one word from the caravan club that my hard earnt money pays a membership fee for is just appauling
1 -
Who had this bright idea !! it's just trendy to include Motor Home in the new name?? Motor Home owners join the "Caravan Club" not because of the name, but because of the Site locations, quality of those sites & Staff. I can't recalled being consulted on the name change & the costs involved. Am I excited about this change like the 'Club' officials say they are. I'm not !! Anybody can be excited when spending other peoples money.

I'm astonished how badly some people have taken this news. Guys what the club gave done is add the name Motorhome to its brand and changed the Logo. Thats all............
Yet some people are going on as if its the end of the world. Is it because most members including myself are no longer spring chickens and as such a bunch of moaners.
1 -
Another day and hopefully the moaners will stop moaning about this change ,then we can get back to moaning about the normal things , or we can accept it and do what we were put on this planet for ,and that is enjoy life not endure life
1 -
I also think some of the responses over the top. I am not really bothered what they call it as long as it continues to supply the product I enjoy. I would just add though, that they have not just added the name Motorhome to the brand, they have spent and will spend a tremendous amount of money doing it. It is that aspect that I find disappointing.
2 -
and just to add to this dvla classes any vehicle that is used for sleeping in and has its own means of being propelled as a MOTOR CARAVAN so all this expense and they cant even get the name right!
