The same Club, just better...

Rochelle, I haven't been able to read every post and my question may have been answered but could you explain again in plain English not CC speak what you mean in the above answer.
If you are a visitor to the Reddit website you may have come across the acronym ELI5 which means Explain it like I'm 5 years old -this would be an even better idea

Well this is shock and not very well handle in my opinion just a hint to the members would have been nice, perhaps next year we will have the Caravan, Motorhome & Tent club. Still on plus the side they promised more sites with Wifi that don't work!!! someone needs to step down

How do you use the Quote Button, it's been a while??
Bugs, Millihull & DSB, I love your post and wanted to reply!

Agreed 'Fysh', the club has seen the rise of the C&CC and has probably left it a little late, half hearted attempts by old fuddy duddy's when they should have resigned long ago has held us back. But as said I'm happy as a 'user' and as long as it suits me I will use either club for my enjoyment.
I'm fine mate and hope you are too, car running good and only problem has been a renewal of the boot switch. Good to hear from you.

So the change is based on my feedback. Can't say I remember being asked. If the number of motor home owners who have joined "The Club" (as it was known) is growing so well, the old name clearly didn't put them off.
The club spent, and continues to spend members hard earned cash buying and supporting Alan Rogers, with no obvious benefit to those members, and without asking them, now we get a new name and logo, again without any consultation. Given the ease with which an on line survey of members could have been carried out, it seems management has decided democracy no longer rules. Tradition, even over a century of it, is dismissed with a quick presentation to a tiny percentage of members at an industry exhibition. Change is OK, but a bit of permanence is needed to build on.

I sense a real change in the way this club is going. I started to notice it on sites last year, every warden seemed on edge, not working for a Club but more of somewhere like a FTSE company.
The Magazine came " up to date", and instead of nice scenes on the front cover we have a soppy bloke wearing a stupid hat and last year's hanging basket under his chin, and a grinning pointless woman wearing a perfect set of customer service teeth.
Then today I discover we have been rebranded. We are now The Caravan and Sherman Tank Club. I was ambushed in an email with the news, and I promise to keep it secret from anybody who has not heard.
Let's see what this Season brings?

Posted on 21/02/2017 16:15 by RochelleCCHi Wex,
We're hoping to encapsulate the change in everything we do, and we're focusing more on the experiences that you have when touring with us.
When we say more, we mean more inspiration, inclusivity, simplicity and a pioneering spirit
So what is this change that the CC wants to encapsulate. I am afraid all I read in the mission statement seems to amount to a little spit and polish. What is meant by simplicity. Are we to have more non facility sites? I do hope so.

Yes I'd like more information on what it means too.
Inclusivity and pioneering and facilitated and journeys etc. I know what the words mean. I'd like to know what the club means by it all.
And can I book a Hardstanding instead of ending up on a poxy grass pitch please and thank you

How dare the management spend so much money on an unnecessary rebranding fiasco. The fact that the membership was not consulted speaks for itself!!! The members would never have agreed to such a shocking waste of money when so many other projects( e.g. Refurbishing sites, upgrading web site) could have benefitted. Shame on you management!

As i posted earlier I,have not seen one post that is against the caravan club going forward but the big gripe by the vast majority of the posters so far on here,is the complete waste of money needed to change the caravan (that includes all types of caravan)club from an internationaly known organisation, into what?

I worked for a large company which spent millions in changing their corporate identity and all the infrastructure at the whim of each new Marketing Director who was employed. When that person moved on, guess what.....
Good to see that the word 'Club' has been retained in the title. Perhaps this will be replaced at some stage to reflect what for me our club now seems to be becoming.

The more you read the more it becomes obvious the club is run in the "public Sector" model. Forget the basics but go all out for marginal issues, regardless of costs. Could all this wasted monies not have been used in refurbish Lady Margaret Park to just bring it up to an acceptable standard? No doubt others will have similar basic requirements these monies could have been better put to.

Hello All
I was just as surprised as lots of other members to receive an email relating to the change of name - but there again I was not!!
My wife and I have been in the club for 25 years and my Wife has caravanned from a child in the Club with her family from the 70's.
Together we owned a Caravan for 20 years and then purchased a Motorhome 5 years ago. We are not alone in this action - several acquaintances of ours have done exactly the same thing as our families have grown up and the "kids" do not want to come away with the oldies any more.
Well done Caravan and Motorhome Club - I am always up for "change for the good" - perhaps you should now think hard about generating a few adult only sites - perhaps this could be a new discussion point??

Could not agree more. Presumably all the corporate signs, recently renewed, will now be firewood. What a complete and utter waste of money AND how can it be since 1907? It is not The Caravan Club and surely the established date is now 2017. Can't wait to see the number of all the new members attracted by the change. And yes, it is a very strange logo which presumably, again, will have an explanation attached thereto.

Thanks Bakers2 for your support.
Yes a bit of a slap in the face but I am over the shock now. We have been asked to speak to the ladies in head office regarding this.
We try hard to ensure that we represent the club in the very best way possible. Our site is very well maintained and we are always trying to think of ways of enhancing our guests experience when they are here. I have lost count of the number of caravanning and motorhome guests that have joined the club through us specifically because they wanted to stay here; this is for both UK and EU guests. So a very sad state of affairs. It may perhaps mean that we will have to scale down our re-investment of the site for this year in someway.
I understand and have read some views on the discussion pages that some people think that running a CL is easy and money for old rope. It is not, especially if you do it well and give it your all!
Here's to a happy season for all of us!

Absolutely disgusting! When was I consulted? Why wasn't there a vote on something so important?
Sorry but you had no moral right to change the name of OUR club! The executives are getting too power crazy these days, this decision should have been put to a vote of its members, after 110 years you decide to change the name and logo without asking us? Why not add tents to the name, or non members, or adults only? You should have called it 'The caravan, motohome, tents and every Tom, Dick, and Harry as long as you have a dog and no children club'
Why not start a motor home club instead, or was that name already taken?
Anyone any idea how I cancel my membership?

Why haven't we included Marmite in the new name. Or Marks and Spencer? People would recognise that and we could get a new generation of Hipsters and Tatooed Mums and Dads joining along with Spencer and his pierced ears at age 9, and Ermine the Labradoodle to poo outside pitch 49s mega awning.
We could get McDonalds to start up a Mobile visiting fast food van coming at precisely 5.30 pn a Thursday at Black Knowl. The Milk Shakes would be ready after negotiating the pot holes in the approach road.
