The same Club, just better...

We like positive change if we gain from it. Apart from a new logo what has changed except for the club going to a lot of expense to rebrand ? When were we consulted as members of the club if we wanted to change as i think most would have prefered to spend on infrastructure?

I didn't understand the video! There's no audio or proper explanation. Anyway, a logo should be able to stand alone - if it needs an explanation, then it's not much use as a logo! How many people are going to bother trying to understand what's behind the logo?

Hi Haypool,
We sent an email out to the membership at around 10am this morning, and changed over the website at 8am. We used Facebook to broadcast our official launching at the NEC at 10:30, but those of you who were online would have got a sneak preview

Please could someone enlighten me as to what "FeedbacK"? I have never completed any questionnaire for the Caravan Club? The brand name says it all, "Caravan"! Does this now mean the mass invasion of Motorhomes to all the best pitches and then during the day the pitches are left bare. Why can't they start their own Club?

Hi Wex,
We're hoping to encapsulate the change in everything we do, and we're focusing more on the experiences that you have when touring with us.
When we say more, we mean more inspiration, inclusivity, simplicity and a pioneering spirit

Well I agree with many, seems like a waste of effort and money. Think we would be better off with more improvements on sites and more sites. We all use the sites for areas of the country we want to visit and carry out our hobbies and interests. New signs, name and logo is not going to change that.

There have been lots of previous discussions on here about the name, I seem to remember quite a few wanted it to be a bit more inclusive.
It's been good to see lots of new contributors today. Thanks for all the info Rochelle....hope you won't be here all night!

There will of course always be some very popular sites, but a large number of pitch nights remain available on our network throughout the season. I'm sure we'll be ready for them!

Well I dont post on this forum usually - and wont be back soon as every new page of comments is hidden by the instant drop-down menu....
The sites are quite nice. But expensive. The magazine is just paid for by adverts - and refuses to criticise the big dealers. Soft journalism.
The name change is fine - but the logo is forgettable.
The cost? Obviously we are never going to be told.
I just wish that the news story of the day had been important.

Oh my if this isn't a reason for rebranding and opening up to new demographics then I don't know what is

Our biggest criticism as a CL owner is that the communication from the club has only just filtered through to us this morning. In preparation for the coming season, like most other CL's and small caravanning sites, we have refreshed our business cards and marketing material and we only took receipt of the newly printed items last Thursday. We have been told by the club in an email that we have to change all items with the old logo and replace them ones with the new logo as soon as possible, and it is at our own expense! It would have been better for the club to have communicated before the start of this year that re-branding was afoot and to hold off on having anything printed before the change over date - today. CL's are an integral part of the Caravan Club/ Caravan and Motorhome Club offering to their members and perhaps in future CL's will be treated as such.

Well what a lot of negative feedback and very few positive remarks .Me and Jo think it's a great move and a brilliant way to move the club forward. We have been members of the CC/CMC for many years and give it all the support we can.Im sure the powers to be and all the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to improve the club do so to help the club to move forward into its next stage. We think the rebranding is modern ,current, cool and needed. If there are so many people unhappy with the club then they should leave and find another club to moan about. Well done to the Caravan & Motorhome Club.Well done also Rochelle

What is the difference between a motorhomer leaving a pitch bare during the day and a caravan owner going out in their car for the day leaving an empty caravan? Either way the pitch is technically unused during the day - or does your caravan like to sit and admire the view?

Loving the name change!
A memorable day and a victory in the battle against Motorhomerphobia! Phase one is now completed and phase two "The Motorhome & Caravan Club" name change is surely just around the corner. Our first post over four years ago suggested this and received much abuse. I haven't been on here for years but just couldn't let the memorable moment go un-marked/posted. Well done the Motorhome and Caravan Club!

I suggest along with these changes that you start charging a deposit when members book pitches and don't turn up, spoiling it for members that do want to go no matter what the weather is doing. I do appreciate that some cancellations can't be avoided but this has upset a lot of member who can't get onto sites.

The new name and logo bother me not a jot. What I strongly object to is the idea that a name change makes it better. Or that using 'Buzz Words' makes the club with a ell known brand identity somehow more desirable and better managed. It does not.

Lots of comments. I wonder how many of 'the Membership' were aware of any consultation on 'rebranding' and advised of the potential costs? This member like many is not happy.
As 'JVB66' posted regarding the past 'not so recent rebranding', we are going all through this again. Not good enough Committee.
This is a Members Club and I am sure most members would prefer to see their fees spent more wisely, for example - keeping summer time prices down for those who cannot make use of low season rates etc..
As for the logo - not memorable! Not necessary.
How much will this actually cost the Membership - presumably somebody carried out a cost benefit analysis?

I agree - this is pure vanity imposed by "professional charity and marketing people" who have no feel for caravanning or caravaners. Disgraceful and high handed.

Well at least if the new site signs reflect the colour of the logo, they won't blend in with the greenery like they do now. By the way weren't they just replaced a few years ago?

If it ain't broke.....How much has this major rebranding exercise cost us, the members? Quoting Rochelle, "Together, we’re embarking on a journey of investment in the future of our Club" - sorry, haven't you always been investing in the Club for its future? Everything I've read is just hand-wavy psudo-liberal claptrap. "Inspire, simplify, pioneer, inclusive" - what's that all about and how will it change how I caravan? And don't even get me started on the logo and its colours - words fail me. Nothing will change and you've alienated many, many loyal long term members by this pointless exercise and then compounded the problem by keeping it a secret, rather than involving the membership. Doesn't that go against everything that you've said is going to change for the better.

What a lot of nonsense It's a business, we use it to enjoy our pastime be it caravan or motorhome and what logo or colour doesn't affect me at all.
A lot of the negative moaning comes from members I have never heard of, if its that important then stay awhile and support the forum, support the CL network. Probably the last time you lot surfaced was the 'Caravanner of the year' video and then returned to shadows until the next revelation.
What has happened is not that important that my Weetabix was ruined, I can still book sites and CL's, still travel overseas, the workings are still there and when its not I will move on elsewhere.

I also note there was no "vote button" on the site, or other mention of this madness occuring. Seen exactly the same thing with the CSMA becoming "Boundless".

Rochelle,
I think that amongst all of today's guff you have stumbled upon a truth that has been totally ignored. People want to stay on sites in particular areas at particular times, and this is lacking. If one wants to stay at Culloden at a weekend, for example, and it is fully booked it matters not a whit how many discounted, unused, mid-week pitches there are in Cornwall.

Once again it seems like a slap on the face of CL owners. I really feel for you. First we can't access you on the updated Web pages, so we turn to an very out of date handbook as the latest handbook has been held back for the rebrand and logo change and now to add insult to injury you are to pay for something you've just had printed and you have to bin and repay for same job different logo. Words fail me.
