There was still no need to alter that for 110 years has catered in its name for trailer caravans and motor caravans , as is the official name that both are known by,  not a names  game that suited the high costs of marketing departments

Too many posts to read them all but from what I have read so far this monumental decision is about as popular as a chocolate teapot. I am wondering if the heirachy might now have second thoughts or were thinking it was April 1st

Since when did the name of the Club change to the Caravan and Motorhome Club?  I thought we were all caravanners regardless of unit. How wrong was I.

The correct classification of a motorhome is 'motor caravan'. As a motorhomer with a motorcaravan, I have never felt excluded in my 20+ years. However, I now feel included and that is the difference.

If I saw the new logo and colours on a shop as I walked down the high street, I would give the shop a miss.  To me it it idicates a down market establishment, dowdy colours indicate a dowdy place.

The Red Pennant was reasonably easy to spot when trying to find a site. The new logo will not.

I agree with others, spend more on facilities.  We were thinking of touring the Lake District but find that some sites do not have shower blocks.

Think again before more money is wasted.

A good point has been made. Members overwhelmingly wanted the ability to book pitch types and yet after two years trial it's been kicked into the long grass.

Could this be looked at again please?  It's quite honestly all I want from a provider of pitches to park a leisure vehicle.

I doubt that very much, time will tell if this monumental decision is popular or not, by the membership quota.

The Club is appealing to a new breed of membership, the 'anti change' brigade will either have to get with it or ship out.

There has been no consultation with CC Centres. None at all and all of their rebranding will need doing at a cost to themselves presumably. Am sure the investment would have been better made in other areas.

How long before it becomes the Motorhome Club?  I suppose we can always join the Caravan & Camping Club!!

The cost of this change could have been better used in reducing what are becoming penal fees for families.

If you think this Club is less of a business and more of a members organisation then I'm afraid you're a little deluded. Sure there is an elected committee but in real terms, this is more akin to a board of directors.

This organisation has competition and as such it needs to evolve to stay at the top. Just like any other business.

Walls ceased to exist years ago... they were sucked in by Unilever.

'Unilever Ice Cream' didn't have the same ring to it though

I agree with you. It's way behind its competitor in terms of delivery at the moment and needs to work really hard to shake off the image it has.

The problem is that being in a 'club' and paying a fairly substantial fee to access sites and services is actually really old fashioned and unappealing to my age group and younger. So there's a problem to overcome straight away. undecided

We are both in our very late 60s , we move with the times and embrace change. The Caravan Club (as was) is somewhat older and ready for a change. So come on members, move with the times and stop whingeing! We think it's BRILL!!

    1. Is this a legacy for Mr Chamberlain, the man whose credibility (if he had any to start with) went flying through the window when he tried to tow his caravan at speed up a clearly excessive incline (and on national TV), resulting in much damage and embarrassment to all his fellow caravanners?

    2. When will us members be getting the letter stating how much the rise will be in our subscriptions?

I do not think anybody is saying anything negative about going forward its long been happening ,as we who have been members a "few years" will testify ,what is not req is interfering by "re branding"  a 110 year trusted institution that is known worldwide by its name and logo , that has covered types of all caravans be it towed or as now some mostly pulled by an  inbuilt engine

Am I mistaken or are the vast majority of folk moaning about the rebranding  caravaners  (of the trailer type, although I have never heard them referred to as "trailer caravans"). Do they think they are going to get less for their membership fees?

I know that some - not all but some - caravaners look down their noses at motorhomers. That could be because they are jealous of the fact that we can drive onto a pitch and have the kettle on in moments!

All the talk of the cost of this exercise - I would think it works out at a few pennies per member so IMO not worth getting worked up about.

What a complete waste of our money.  Change for changes sake!  Far better to have at least kept all the site fees and membership fees the same as last year.  Will still call it The Caravan Club!

Where is the evidence that “Members overwhelmingly wanted the ability to book pitch types”. Some people on here expressed that opinion, but I for one am quite happy with the current arrangement.

Its a pity that only a tiny fraction of what this re-branding will have cost couldn't have been spent on a root & branch re-Jig of this disaster of a CT Forum.
