This year we have only booked a few nights up front mainly because of lack of information on sites and prices due to no book for reference. For us the book is essential but not yet here. At least they don't seem to have pinched the 'friendly club' wording - yet and that has to be a bonus!!

Ian said 'Maybe people should stop having a go at Rochelle?'

Nobody is having a go at Rochelle Ian. She wrote 'It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.'

As Rochelle is speaking for the club using 'Us' and 'We' that is who the comments are directed at. Not Rochelle personally.

Don't mind the new name but wonder was it really necessary. The members were not consulted in any meaningful way. I've been associated with the club as a child and member for over 60 years and don't see anything wrong with the original logo etc. I can only assume the change is to pander to those who like to refer to motor caravans as motorhomes. For some reason they don't like the word caravan which is after all what it is all about

Just another thought on "re branding" I wonder why the two big motoring clubs ie RAC & AA have kept their names even in private ownership,Is it because they are  known good brand names?

Caravan and Motorcaravan Club is it a new outfit?

Did expect a new forum instead of this old unreadable and incredibly amateur effort

This is a new forum albeit an incredibly amateur effort mounting on a server that seems barely able to cope.

Looks good to me. We've had both a caravan and a motorhome so the new name reflects our experience of the club. Better differentiation from the "other" club too ;)

Most modern rebrands shorten names to become more catchy to make them more memorable and to appeal to new younger members. If the name is too big to fit on one line on their smart phones, they aint bovvered (sic).

Personally, I don't like it. The Caravan Club as a brand is much more recognised and this will take years to recover. The new name sounds like we're trying to copy the equally over-lengthily titled Caravan and Camping Club (spelt wrong on purpose to prove a point).

Oh, and what about trailer tenters and folding campers?

There is an organisation called "The Motorhome Club" or something similar.  Will they be changing their ethos and name?  Anyone on here a member there as well who could report back what the motorhome members are saying?

Like other members, I too was a bit shocked at this change to our club. I can see the point is to try and attract a wider audience but alas the main thing I think will cause a decline in the hobby eventually is the fact that all us old fogies with unlimited licences are gradually going to disappear and without the industry making much lighter family vans (not those silly 'Swift Basecamp' things) that do not require a special towing test then the whole concept is eventually doomed for both clubs and the caravan industry.

Please look at the reasons behind the name and logo change and FOUR VALUES

    Inspire

    Simplify

    Puoneer

    Inclusive

The process is NOT to pander to Motorhome owners but an attempt to set the Club up for the future.

Failure to realise the wider objective simply restricts our appreciation of what the Club is trying to do.

As a new member to the club and a new motorhomer I'm glad the club have chosen to be more inclusive, so well done to the club for taking this step. As a nation we're thankfully living longer and have more disposable income which many are choosing to use by purchasing a caravan or motorhome. I went the NEC show last October and was told that the growth area in the sector over the coming years will be motorhomes. So for the club to be inclusive and recognise this trend seems logical.

Come on guys the Club management has done this to advance our Club and take it forward.
