Hello Everyone,
Just a quick update for you in relation to the Emission Stickers in France. The FIA as well as the French Government have warned that there are a number of companies which allow you chase the Vignette/Emission Stickers but for a higher cost. The French Government has recommended that you purchase the stickers from the following website:
https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr click on "Demander son certificat" confirm that you accept the terms and conditions and click on the Suivant link. Fill out the form, make a payment and the certificates will be sent to you. The cost of the emissions stickers are around £3.20.
**Please note that if you use Google Chrome the option to translate the page will come up when you first arrive on the French Government page.**

Lyon - copied from the French Crit'Air website:
Attention : Les autoroutes A7, A6 et A42 ne sont pas concernées par la mesure. Vous trouverez ici une liste des autres voies qui ne sont pas concernées par la mesure.
and translated:
Attention: The A7, A6 and A42 motorways are not affected by the measure. Here you will find a list of other channels that are not affected by the measurement.
You will, however, require a vignette to cross Grenoble even on the autoroutes.
Translation here:
According to an announcement from the city of Grenoble, the Crit'Air vignette will also be mandatory to cross the territory of the metropolis of Grenoble by motorway. This obligation takes effect from the Voreppe toll gate on the A48 to the north of the Crozet / Vif toll gate on the A51 in the south and from the Crolles toll gate 'A41, to the west. The A480, which crosses Grenoble, is also concerned.

The application form states that the copy of my V5 must be attached and must be less than 400KB. For the life of me I can't get the scan file this small even in a pdf. It is coming out over 1 MB. Any suggestions please? My brain has gone addled!

Open the scanned image and then use the save as function to save as a jpeg. Once saved, resize the image to a 1000 pixel width and the file size should be much smaller. If you are using Windows down load a program called Irfanview which will allow you to take all the actions I have suggested, its free.

Thanks, David, I'll download Irfanview. However, I have completed my application form and just sent the jpeg that I had straight from the scanner. It seems to have been accepted. They have sent me a confirmation of my application so I'll just wait and see if anything untoward comes back. I hope not.

Hi All, Thomas Ash (Staff) may be the one who knows!
Although it has been asked already 'Why can't one countries LEZ sticker be valid in all LEZ zones European wide?' Or has been implied do we have to have one for each individual country that we pass through?
We are planning to visit at least 5 EU countries this summer! Any input by well seasoned travellers would be appreciated... (Don't mean the salt and pepper seasoned) 😜

It seems a sensible suggestion to have one emission sticker for the whole of Europe, co-operation in the best sense of the word. There are probably a couple of reasons why that is not the case yet. Each country is trying to deal with individual problems which might not translate across borders. Also what each country decides to do in terms of traffic restrictions is I understand not within the EU remit, at least not at the moment which perhaps prevents a common system Europe wide.
In answer to the last bit of your question it very much depends on where you intend to stay or visit on your holiday as its quite possible that you might not need any stickers. In Germany it tends only to be the centre of towns and cities affected and most people will use public transport to get into cities.

Hi All,
I share the common sense approach to having one sticker that covers the whole of Europe but as DavidKlyne has said the EU doesn't have a remit for traffic restrictions. It is up to each member state to regulate and introduce their own traffic restrictions including the LEZ which I can appreciate is frustrating. Hopefully in time things will look to change but it does mean in the mean time that you will require a separate sticker for each country with a LEZ until progress is made in that area.

It's a bit late to be suggesting Europe wide agreements I fear!!!

Meecee, like you I have not been able to find any reference to blue badge holders. But as the sticker is all about the vehicle and not the driver would think it safe to assume that there is no exemption. For the sake of £3.80 and a couple of minutes at the computer why worry? You will have to copy your V5 in monochrome or the website will not accept it if it is in colour as it will be too big (took me quite a time and a few scans to realise this!!). My application is in the ether awaiting my sticker to go with my German one and no doubt over the next few years my Dutch, Spanish, Italian Slovenia, ....... etc stickers. Would have hoped there would be an EU one by now!

I had the same problem trying to get the scan size small enough, ie below 400kb. I eventually gave up and sent what I had which was above 1000kb. It accepted it without problem and my sticker has arrived today. Scanning the V5 is probably the longest part of the application. Quick and easy. The cost, converted to sterling, was £4.21 on Halifax Clarity card.

Have there been any suggestions as to which cities are likely to be next in line to bring this in, after Paris, Grenoble and Lyon?
