Went a ride out to Bradgate Park this afternoon. In the end we didn't think it was worth £4 for the parking. Although that was the same price for the whole day, but we would only have stopped for about half an hour. We went on to Thorntons reservoir and took the dog for a little stroll. Too cold to be out for long though.

Did some tiling recently the old fashioned way with a hand held cutter had the same disasters as you have experienced. I bought an electric angle grinder from Screwfix cuts the tiles like butter. SO EASY

After a clear night we had frost on the ground this morning, but at least the sky was clear and the sun was shining....the first we've seen properly for over a week!! Did the odd job round the house & van before a pleasant walk out with Flyte. It was still cold but nice in the sunshine. Back home in time to start cleaning the caravan, and with a short break for lunch, completed the outside by mid afternoon, just as it was clouding up and growing colder. Perhaps I'll start on the inside tomorrow.

Electric cutter is the only way to go with tiles.

For the last few days, the outside tap here has been freezing every morning. We have to wait until after 11 a.m. before it thaws out enough to enable us to fill the Aquaroll.

Good to have an update Malcolm. I'd been wondering about you. Are you watching but not posting on this new CT? I am as all my equipment except my laptop top doesn't like it in some form or another and I can't post on some and not easily on others ho hum! Not to mention the speed, number of clicks to get anywhere, or the fact that even when on the right equipment it fails to respond.
-4.6c here at 0830 this morning bright and white. Off for dog walk very soon.
Keep warm folks

We often had a walk round Bradgate Park when visiting Loughborough when our son was at Uni, nice park in warmer weather.

Beautiful sunny day, shame it's about -5 outside!
Nothing much planned today, but spent a nice few hours with our son and his girlfriend yesterday.
OH had got to go and rescue a friends car, she managed to put diesel in instead of petrol even the fact that the diesel nozel is bigger didn't stop her, she put it into a can first!!
Keep warm folks.

Slightly hazy here at BHF ,but dry & It's been VERY cold overnight .So much so that my water pump kept cutting in.Which probably means the cold has found a weak spot in the pipe work. Will investigate after breakfast !! .

A cold grey day here in the Pennines. Out for walk this morning trying to build up my stamina and get some miles into my legs. Managed a leisurely 3 miles but it sounds more in kilometers 4.9. Dog tired now so it's feet up for the rest of the day.

Lovely sunshine in this part of Lincolnshire and warm enough to stroll the field without a coat (all be it after toting the logs). I see I need to go out again as the bird feeders need filling again - wonderful group of long tailed tits enjoying the fat balls and peanuts.

Very cold and frosty here today but gloriously sunny. Keep warm everyone.
Glad you had a nice day with your son and his girlfriend Helen. Hope his move to Manchester goes well.

Pippah - I've been doing a lot of work in the computer room today and have noticed these wonderful little birds coming to our peanut and fat ball holders on at least 6 occasions. In late spring they tend to only come about twice so it seems that they shorten their circle in winter to ensure a regular supply of food. Can't blame them and they do brighten the day.
I may have mentioned this before, so apologies, but they go out of their way to look after any chicks in their fellow LTT's nests if they lose their own and can often be found searching out food for them and actually feeding other birds chicks.

Thankyou Millie. Son and his girlfriend are back looking for somewhere to rent, the first place they found fell through, unfortunately. He will have to find somewhere quickly he starts his new job in 3 weeks!
Still very cold, not been out much, getting on with my knitting, one more sleeve to go.
Eldest just sent me some pictures of the ski slopes, looks even colder there!

Not had to refill my bird feeders for a day or three, I
assume they are getting their nourishment elsewhere
at present. The thing that riles me at the moment is
that they are not touching the fat-balls at all , so
tomorrow I'll get some new from the town market, replace
the existing ones and use me Old Mammy's cheese grater
on the tired ones & put the bits out for the ground
feeders to enjoy ! ( Wood & Feral pigeon Heaven )

We have just returned from our first trip away of 2017. We were at Lomond Woods Holiday Park in Balloch one if our regular sites. The weather was cold but I managed to go a cycle up to Luss yesterday for any cyclists this is a lovely route right alongside the loch great views all the way.

I'll be doing that WN when the little blighters start eating
the new ones I'll get tomorrow. the only trouble is they
came in a '50' package so ther's going to be a surfeit
of ground feeders food to add to the usual seed & suet
nibbles -- I'm reluctant to put the grated bits into hanging
feeders in case they just cause blockages or slow flow !
Ah well nobody promised me "Easy" !!

Arrived at Chester Fairoaks at 12.30, drive was short but busy, had a little flurry of snow for awile just to remind us it is winter.
Everything here looks awfully wet, fields are very muddy with lots of puddles. Had a little walk along the road outside the site up to the main road to see how far it is to the retail park, about 15 mins walk.
Broke a tooth/filling yesterday so will need to pay a visit to a dentist, no pain just now but not going to leave it incase anymore breaks off.
Funny some of you are saying the birds are not eating fatballs, mine are the same. The square ones are going down well, as are the half coconuts. Like others I'm breakin them up, the blackbirds like them.

Same here with the fatballs but the seed and surplus apples are going down quite quickly. I've got one load of apples left and every day our regular lone Fieldfare tucks into them. He's got a long flight ahead and will be the plumpest Fieldfare ever to take to to the air!

Same with fat balls here. Bought the same ones, well from the same outlet for similar price. So who knows what the issue is/was?! I put some more out today as they have been going very slowly weathered round the edges 😉 as I noticed sparrows on the ball feeder nearest the house and the one further down the garden had had birds, not sure what as they are deliberately among shrubs offering them shelter. I also notice that only the sunflower hearts are being eaten the mixed seeds, usual supplier usual mix are being left, but are welcomed by the ground feeders. Starlings were always on them as well and they rarely land on them at present.
Been another fabulous cold winters day 😃. But I fear the horizon appeared misty. Freezing fog forecast for some areas tonight. Nasty stuff stay safe everyone.
