If you type Great Little Campsites you will get the ACSI opinion on the subject - but their cut off is fewer than 50 pitches, not fewer than 5.

Bear in mind that "late Spring" could coincide with Pfingsten and Himmelfahrt, the German equivalent of Whitsun and Ascension, when both dates lead to a 4 day holiday break for the caravan loving Germans and we've always found an increase (sometimes quite markedly) in holidaymakers so check your site carefully if going over these dates.

Have a look at the Motorhomehafen at Dorsten, north of Essen.

Personally I would forget about CL sites in Europe as they don't really exist outside of the UK. Concentrate on where you are going and check out the sites in that location. Many German sites have a relatively small number of touring pitches but might have double/treble the number of permanent pitches. A Google search suggests three sites, KNAUS Campingpark Essen-Werden, Cammerzell, Ruhrcamping if that helps.

    Hi mrp62

i would suggest the same as eurotraveller and yes Pfingsten and Himmelfahrt are busy times in both Germany and Austria.

Inhave caravan friends who live in Dortmund and if you would like Inwill ask them about a small Campsite in the area.

    Cheers DianneT

Not sure quite what the definition of "late spring" is here, but as already referred to, Ascension Day and Whitsun are holidays in Germany.  This year Ascension Day is 25 May, followed by Whitsun on the weekend 2-4 June.
