O.K.----What is the arrival time?

The arrivals rule is as the majority seem to understand ,is the same across most of the the leisure industry,to allow areas that have been used to be,if needed, serviced, before the next customer, and a standard arrival time will advise the sensible of this, but as is life a minority do not,or cannot, understand,
As for a departure time that is also, mostly standard across the leisure industry ,but is more flexible as allowed in the "house" rules if space permits

For those new to this forum, or possibly our club, the slightly later departures as described in the rules, are only permitted by the wardens when circumstances allow. Low occupancy, I guess, being the main reason. Don't think anyone, has ever turned up at site to find no pitch available to them, that's because this rule is well managed.
As far as determining the specific arrival time, that I'm sure will also be site specific. Whatever time is decreed it will, I reckon, be done with good reason such as having staff available to 'welcome' the arrivals.
Now these are the practices and rules we currently enjoy. If a few wish these changed then that invite to get involved in the decision making process and evolution of the club has been made to one and all members.

well written.
And as you say these are the rules as they currently stand. You may not agree with them, but when joining or re-joining the club, you agree to abide by them.
Also if you don't agree with them why be a member?

Have on occasion arrived up to 30 minutes early at sites, mainly due to traffic being a lot lighter than expected. With it being difficult to find places to park up when towing I have trended to carry on and then check with the wardens (if they are not busy cleaning, getting pitches ready etc, etc) that it is o.k. to park up. I have never asked to be allowed on early but have been processed and checked in a couple of times, but have never been asked to go away and come back later (maybe something to do with being polite and asking with a smile).
Classic was arriving 10 minutes early at Wirral last year to find 1 of the drivers of the 3 motor homes already queuing having a melt down as they were not being let on early. The wardens arrived back from whatever they had been doing and shouted across to us all 'sorry for keeping you waiting' and this guy turns round and says 'no problem we didn't mind waiting'😂

Don't know why that posted 4 times and when I delete it says content removed by moderator - will have to see if it is on the snagging list😂

During over 40 years of camping and caravanning, I have never arrived earlier than the No arrivals Before time. Nor have I ever departed later than 12.00 noon. I believe in consideration for others, abiding by the site rules is the only way to achieve this.
Cheers :..............K

I disagree K. The club has recognised that late stays can be accommodated without inconveniencing anyone and so give wardens the discretion to allow late stays on those occasions.

As a newcomer to the Club, I believe we should all adhere to the rules set out. If arrival is 12am then I wont drive before 12am. if by chance I do because of good traffic then I'll wait until 12am before I enter reception.
I'd be miffed however if I did this and people who arrive after me were being allowed in "early". I suppose its a question of being flexible and always aim to arrive at the correct time and if I'm early then see what local policy is.

I have a degree of sympathy with the OP and I always carefully check the arrival instructions specific to the site in case there is a restricted/narrow access. We have only once arrived early, at Grassington which has a tight bend at the site entrance and was happy to wait. Perhaps introducing pre booking option of specific pitches is a part answer so those who are travelling long distances or delayed with traffic are not disadvantaged? I know there are also valid arguments against this however Even if there was a premium to pay for the privelige I would happily do it. However one thing is certain, I am not holding my breath for any form of response or answer from the CC anytime soon.....

the issue with a few sites is that there is nowhere to 'wait before entering reception' other than on route somewhere or out in the main road...

Just back from Lady Margaret. Site very quiet. Noticed most units left on Sunday but as late as 4pm. Nothing wrong with that allowing users a full day on Sunday. Dont see the teeth gnashing blt about arrivals or departures as a big issue.

Hi all
Thanks for discussing and just to confirm a couple of Club changes since we launched our revised website.
Our system always gave the option 12.00-14.00 as earliest arrival time but for those sites with a 1pm arrival time this bracket has now been changed to 13.00-15.00. Hopefully this will stop confusion on those sites from now on.
A very small handful of sites allow arrivals in before 12 noon. White Water Park was one of those sites with an advertised arrival time of 10am (as per 2015/16 SIte Directory) which may be the reason you saw 11am arrivals Bernnard. To comply with other sites this has now been changed to 12 noon, again hopefully eradicating confusion.
Our sites, their approach roads, the wardens that run them (and our Members) are all different - hence different "rules". We are trying to relax our rules somewhat but some are there for the benefit of all and we'd hope people have the consideration to abide by them.
Regards
Helen

Very difficult to abide by something that is so fluid!

Three to four years ago, 1.00pm arrival time crept in at Knaresborough. For years previous the usual 12.00 hrs applied and nothing had changed; strange to say the least!. Sent packing round site and off if you transgressed. One pair of Warden site only.
Now Knaresborough is being refurbished and will be staffed as a two Warden site when reopens in August. As this refurb also includes provision for separate 'In' and 'Out' roads question to staffer Helen Aaron is, will this 1.00pm hours be rescinded to fit in with the majority of sites. Thus reducing not only stress levels but also the chaotic situation this arrival time produced. If not why not; what benefit and to whom if continued with.

Hi Bernard in Tring
Happy to report that yes, Knaresborough when it reopens will be back to a 12.00 noon arrival time.
Hope this helps with stress levels and we'll look forward to seeing you up there in August onwards.
Kindest regards
Helen

Seriously I am very appreciative for the content and the promptness of the response.
Have a booking for September.

Hopefully heralding an even more flexible arrival (and departure) policy at sites with no access problems such as Moreton in Marsh, Broadway, Putts Corner to name 3. Any time between say 10am and 8pm. Sure to save that mad 12 o'clock rush!
