it might be because of Xmas ect.  but has anyone else noticed , it's very quiet on here ,   Certainly a lot less posting,  since the new site format , so is it Xmas , or because there's No more stars ,🌟 ? 🤔

Yes you're right , it's been very quiet on here , I think it might be the lack of stars , at least with the star system you could tell who was new or didn't post much on CT , most other forums have a star rating of some type ,but it seems that the regulars have gone else where

I have noticed that most of those who had many purple stars and certainly those with gold  hardly post now if at all, sealed

That's not my reason, Ruby. The stars meant nothing to me and I'm glad to see the back of them after being falsely accused of star chasing on many an occasion.

You'll find a clue to my less frequent visits in my previous post and it has nothing to do with Christmas.

I am not sure your concerns are backed up by the facts. There have been 60 posts in just the General Chat section alone today. So add in all the other posts from other sections it adds up to quite a respectable number. There are lots of caravanning forums out there that would like to get what we get in a day in an entire week! Even the other Club's forum is massively underused compared to Club Together so I think its healthier than you imagine. BTW I left out the double posts in my calculations!

It's not just the stars that have disappeared but the absence of email notifications on discussions that you were previously notified of updates. Without that, it is impossible to know where there has been an update unless you search through all the discussions after logging in. It is easy to forget which discussions you were previously following without the email reminders.

yes, adding a photo (albeit with a resize to do) is an improvement....

as to just about everything else, sorry but cant agree with those who think this is better.....poorer (how did we manage that) in just about every respect.....and then add in the slooooooooooowness of the site, its blomming hard work now....

I can't tell whether it's user or device problems. It appears to be geared to the latest systems, so people with older devices etc are at a disadvantage. I might be wrong but I think this has slowed up input from some.

There are plenty of people who are able to use the site easily but for a few previous posters it has obviously not been easy to use.

There's still data missing, especially from CLs. I hope it improves asap.

edit I'm very glad the stars have gone!

I don't get this problem about following discussions. When I log in I start on the main discussion page which lists different sections of the forum. I then look at those sections which are of interest and where it is likely that I have posted. If its the first visit to the forum that day you can tell where there are new posts simply by looking at the date of last post which allows you to explore further. Further posts can be established by looking at the date and the time. Whilst this may seem long winded in truth it does not take that long to work through the entire forum. If people only tend to post in one section surely it answer is to go to that section and look at the post from your last log in. Personally I don't want e-mail inbox to be clogged up with notifications. As far as functionality is concerned I accept there are some tweaks that need to be done but its not affecting my use of the forum which I find perfectly manageable. I am sure by the end of January many of the immediate issues will be sorted.

Totally agree.  No stars, like others have said, its a sorry excuse for a forum.  Hate having to click on "I Agree" every single time I want to enter the site and I still can't download photos.  On lots of other forums, I can download photos at the snap of my fingers, but this forum has to be so complicated.   I used to like looking at my history of postings so I know where I can look back and see what others have said and contribute more, as in a chat roomyell.  Oh, and the icons, are in a sad state of repair

Great smile I'm really warming to the new site, only small gripe and that is the slow refreshing of the index page of the forum (waiting for www.caravanclub) from elsewhere on the site, and its not my end as I have 70Mb download speed. Navigation is 'different' but once use to it, it is fine. Text OK, colours OK, I'm happy laughing

I think the new navigation has put a lot of posters off the new site and could be the reason for it being quiet.

Now that the CC new forum has been up and running for a good number of days, In My Opinion it is not really much worse than the old one. It's just a case of finding the workarounds to the various glitches ( I've found quite a few good workarounds already ).

One thing is for sure. There is no point of anybody voicing their disappointment in the new forum software on this forum as nothing will change. The decision has been made.  End of.

The CC Management have decided upon and implemented a forum which they believe is entirely suitable for their customers.

So posters can either do as I have done, use the forum as supplied by the CC management and find workarounds.  My preferred choice !

    -----------OR ---------------

If still unhappy, forget this one and use other caravanning forums to discuss their hobby, there are plenty of them on the net..

    Cheers...............................K

I don't think that it is due to Christmas and I think that the loss of stars is a good idea, stops some (not all) people posting for the sake of it. I used to open'discussions' and see at a glance what was going on, what was being posted and decide if I wanted to contribute. Now I find that I have to keep swiping and wade through so much  I can't see anything at a glance anymore, and I just can't be bothered. I have been reading and contributing from the beginning but now it is very rare that I even look at it. I have noticed today that there seems to be many long standing members missing now. All that seems to have improvedis that pictures can be posted easier, a high price to pay. No good moaning about things, the powers that be don't listen so I won't be bothered to use it in future.

My posting on CT always goes down this time of the year, usually because I'm busy with extra concerts and practices.  This year it's been made worse by the fact that I've been ill since October with a cough and cold, which has left me very tired.  I'm still coughing, even after a course of antibiotics to help cure the chest infection.  Off back to the Dr's this afternoon.

I do not think it has had time for some to get to grips with the new site yet ,also it is xmas/new year and a lot of people are still doing "better" things, and as for the lack of stars it has stopped a lot of "likes" blocking the pages,so it may look as if there are less posts

Are the problems with forum navigation based on different devices?

I use a Desktop and IPad equally and find it no worse than the previous version. I never used notifications, or looked at "my recent posts", so maybe I am not a typical user.  I added photos on the previous version and do so know. No problem

Nothing to do with stars, or lack of, maybe a bit to do with Christmas, but overall, a lot more to do with new website for me personally. Too much hard work using Apple devices, it is slow, clunky, a dozen clicks are required to achieve most things. Hence, I visit very little now, and tend to post mainly in CL section, trying to give them some support. It is no longer an enjoyable way to pass time on here, and I suspect a good few other regular contributors are finding things the same. Other forums are far easier to use.
