What are you all up to

OH was saying she saw a bright pink Smart the other day, they seem to change the standard colours every year. Fancy colours are at extra cost, so ours is red with silver and black.
Parked next to the Volvo and the caravan, it looks like a toy!
It is taller than most small cars so the driving position gives a good view, and the higher seats are easier for creaky old knees to deal with.

I can sympathise with you David, been feeling rotten for a while now. Get well soon from me too.

Beautiful sunny morning, for a change. Decided I felt a bit better this morning so headed off to Aldi, for the food shop. They have all the Christmas vegatables for19p each!
BotH the boys are arriving tomorrow night, must get myself organised, 😉

Shopping done.
All decorations finally up.
But I've still a long To Do list. I'll start this afternoon by making Rum Butter and marzipanning the cake. This year I'm exercising the Cook's Perogative and not putting icing on. (I hate it - too sweet).
Then I had better make a start on the games we will be playing when all the family are here next week.

I have found that 500 pixel width is the maximum to avoid scrolling bars. However one problem is that if you post in portrait the 500 is fine for width but you will still get a bit of downward scrolling.

There appears a veggie war on this year.
The usual hoarding ahead of the forthcoming war is evident in most supermarkets, it is only 1 day the shops are shut, isn't it?
Iceland were doing brussels stalks for 50p on Tuesday. Tesco had cauliflowers, cabbages and broccoli for 37p. Sainsbugs had bags of veggies for 40p yesterday. Will get the forgotten bits tomorrow.
If they can do it for a few days before Xmas, why not every day?

I think I deserve a medal, I have been to Waitrose three times this week and I don't even work there!!! Monday wine and beer, Tuesday normal shopping and today the turkey and remaining Christmas bits. Unusually for us we were there just after 9.00am so not too crowded. Fortunately the turkey fits in the oven, just about!!! Its now back in the motorhome fridge until its time to cook it. I think there is so much food in the motorhome I could start a mobile shop business!!!

Just about finished with the hoovering, that's it then, will send OH out for some local pheasants etc from the butcher tomorrow, no turkey to cook. Someone else will be doing it this year but family will be eating here Christmas Eve.
Well done you happy band of shoppers!

Bakers, as I know you are still lurking I will take this opportunity to wish you and yours a very Happy Christmas and New Year. Let's hope 2017 is more peaceful and joyful than this year.
I do hope that everyone who is feeling poorly feels better soon.

Certainly much, much better MillieH !
Not sure if it's due to everybodies good wishes but
I'll put it down to them anyway !!
The only coughing attack came when Aged Sister's
cat decided he would be much more comfortable if
he could just move that bunch of keys out of the way
a touch !!!
Still the Delivery Run was completed & all gifts are
at sister's house, in which place we will gather on
Saturday for a "Greeting, Grabbing, Thanking &
Quick Departing Session"
The next time we will all meet up is on New Year's
Day when my Niece, daft 'apporth that she is,
does the Open House trick -- how she gets so
many argumentative berks in one place at one time
without starting WW3 is totally beyond me !
But Christmas themed woolly pully's will be worn --
the sole concession to formality !

Busy day again today. Up bright and early, well early anyway (for us) and off t'shops for vittels. Not half bad and not as bad as we expected. i think having an Aldi and Lidl in town now helps to reduce traffic in Tesco. We got all our veg yesterday in Lidl so really topped up today with tin stuff etc. Surprising how well it goes when there's no pressure.
Then this afternoon I had to drive to Chester for yet another visit with the Killer Driller. I counted them all in and counted them all back intact, this time. Next appointment though there's one coming out.
Mrs.WN and MIL meanwhile spent a good couple of hours in Grosvenor Garden Centre. Not too much damage done to the bank account.
Home to slurp tea. Forced myself into having a Champagne Cognac that is reserved for special occasions.

Finally collapsed in the chair about 7pm. Shopping trip was a little manic, many cars circling looking for a parking space. Inside the supermarket was relatively quiet - probably all in the car park! Most Christmas preparation jobs now done, just a visit to M&S to pick up the order tomorrow
OH even managed to spend the afternoon at church helping with the flower arrangements, although she was there about twice as long as anticipated
on the bright side caravan now securely anchored and ready to face storm Barbara

Yes. It seems so, Ian. I couldn't believe the price of the insurance and how much it seems to have gone up. The cost is crippling! However, car insurance is a legal requirement so just have to grin and bear it!
Yes the clutch was recently done by Halfords but I'm not going back there again just to have it go wrong again in three months! It may not be the clutch this time. It could be that a new gearbox is needed.
It's the bill that I'm dreading! It could be anything between £500 and £2,400, depending on what they find.

No because I had already paid Lloyds Insurance £1903 for insurance on the Shogun which was due for renewal on 10th December and therefore qualified for £500 rebate by switching to the Smart Car. As the Shogun will no longer be for business use but just for towing the caravan, I thought it best to insure it through the Caravan Club. I didn't know I could get a better deal elsewhere. Also I only have one years NCD which is why I would have to pay more. Maybe when the renewal is due, I could try comparethemarket.com. Last year Comparethe market.com quoted Lloyds as the cheapest deal.

Luckily, no wind here yet and the sun's trying to come out but a lot of cloud around.
It's our last day at work today before the Christmas holidays when dinner2go will be closed for three days. We've also got three weeks off after Christmas. However, we're staying put here at Charmill Cottage campsite as we need to just relax and chill out. Going elsewhere would mean having to pack things for travel and take the awning down and re-erect it elsewhere. We're too tired to manage all that and I've been doing enough driving for work to want to do any more!
Our present location with the lovely view of Findon in the hill opposite is a holiday destination in itself. If we get one or two sunny days, we can sit out in the relaxers and fall asleep in the awning! Why create extra work moving when we don't have to. Long term stay is permitted on this site and that suits us!
