I'm sure the IT staff are working hard to eliminate those intermittant faults. It will be frustrating for them. They will be under much pressure from top management. It will take time but I'm sure they will succeed.

    Morning everyone, Happy

Sorry about that, everything should be a-ok and working now!

An explanation would have been nice. I've lost count how many times these crashes happen.

So guys/gals remember, "should be a-ok" until the next time and the next time and the time after that. Sad

Come on CC get it right.

Hi everyone, there was an IT fault last night which caused the CT site to go down momentarily. This should all be back up and working this morning, apologies for any inconvenience caused.

But why are we getting more and more of these faults? It would be nice to know what is happening.

JW, I'm sure we all appreciate it's things happening beyond your control and that you're stuck in the middle but we're a bit fed up hearing the same stock phrases only for the site to go down again a few hours later. It would be nice if an IT person posted a proper explanation. There is a school of thought that says the existing not fit for purpose forum night just as well be shut down and relaunched later with the new software which we trust will be more reliable.

Incidentally, the site didn't go down momentarily but was on and off all evening at around 30 minute intervals until it packed up altogether overnight.

Any chance of a meaningful explanation?

I'm sorry it wasn't momentarily!  I couldn't get in for ages. I did however eventually get a 'proper' message, not the dreaded error page or 404 ones that often come up. I got those too but it did change, a first for me! Still even if the message said it
was planned mantainance, which it clearly wasn't - that is notified to users in advance , I did know someone was on the case also answered another if our questions.  That is that there is someone who works after office hours

A poster earlier said, and I quote "There is a school of thought that says the existing not fit for purpose forum night just as well be shut down and relaunched later with the new software"

I have been giving this some thought,-- If this course of action was taken up by the CC, I for one would have absolutely no objections.

Much better for the reputation of the CC to be seen to be taking positive steps to providing top quality products.

I don't think I am either Millie.  To be honest, I don't earmark many discussions as 'follow' because of the number of emails, but I do mark the odd one or two, usually if I have made a comment I am waiting for a specific reply.  I marked one discussion
this morning - there has only been one post,  but I don't think I had an email - unless I Deleted User it unknowingly.

It is abundantly clear that this site is not " A-OK", notwithstanding assurances to that effect. I realise that it is almost certainly above you pay grade, but Johnathan what we want is a rational and honest update by someone who does know what the current
state of play is. Platitudes are no longer acceptable. We are fast reaching the point where we will be demanding Nick Lomas's head on a sharpened stick!

Perhaps its time to shut CT down completely....

Redeploy all staff to the frontline.....

I'm pretty sure I could run a bonza caravan site without an associated and expensive chat forum for people to moan on....

whats odd is that, when i have experienced the 'problem', i can get to the main sections but it is when trying to open a thread that we get a 'club supplied' error mesage. this suggests that only part of the forum, the detail postings, are the issue and
that the club has intercepted a 'system crash' with a mesage page.

that leaves us (themWink) with an application issue where we have had a recent system upgrade that cant cope with the normal data that folk are
    currently used to posting

a data issue where we have a new type of data being posted that is incompatible with the current system 'rules'....

there is some technical reason for the failure which, as yet, the team are unable to identify or resolve.

as CY says, a short post that reassures that the issue is know, understood and an action plan is in place (with timescales) would be a courteous (and informative) thing to do....

Hi everyone. We are currently experiencing intermittent website outages which is effecting the ability to login to Club Together and CL search. We are working to fully resolve this issue and we can only apologise for any disruption and inconvenience

As I mentioned on another thread 3 days ago, I only dip in here from time to time these days to see if the software I got sick of has been changed to something that works.

I really think it would be more accurate of the CC to say "Even after all these years we are still experiencing only intermittent periods when it is possible to login to Club Together and CL search. Despite all the resources spent trying to resolve this issue we can still only apologise rather than provide a solution."

I realise it isn't your fault, Jonathan, but if the CC is actually serious about doing a professional job it's about time all the non-core IT systems were scrapped so that resources can be concentrated on providing a system whch actually works properly.
