Why is the pool of contributors of CT 'not representative'? They are a random group of the main membership so why would they not be representative? Are CT posters drawn from a particular sector of the membership?
CT cannot be repesentative, by it's very nature, as it's an on-line forum, and there will certainly be members of the CC who do not use a computer, small numbers though they may be.
If typically a national pole of 2000 households is considered to be representative of 62 million that live in the UK why shouldn't 130 or so be representative of 350,000.

Somewhat better than the average number of posts on the C&CC forum which seems to be bumping along at around 20 a day. OK early days and not much publicy thus far.

Interestingly I have yet to see that!

I think they are a bit more careful about getting a representative section of society. On CT, in my opinion, a disproportionate number seem to be retired, or at least older. Also of course CT users don't include those who can't use IT or those that do, but would think it uncool to do so.

If the statistics were to be based on the posts relevant to our hobby and not all the irrelevances like "What are you up to today" ( shampood the Hamster). Virtually, dead threads like Sunday Departures, and the multitude of Forum error Reporting posts, there would be very little to base the statistics on.

Ah, but just think, K, if it weren't for Sunday Departures and Error Reporting, you'd never have got that purple star!

If it wasn’t for the star system, I think that the activity on here would be in serious decline. Unless I misread the behavior of regular posters, many of the posts on here have the purpose of scoring star points rather than providing content of any value.

I do not think it would be in decline so much ,but if it did not have the star system you would be able to follow posts easier instead of "Likes" filling the latest posts in bulk
I also try to use the ‘Latest Activity’ to see what contributions have recently been made. Being on the front page for CT, I had assumed that was its intended purpose. As you say, JVB, it becomes pretty worthless as soon as a serial liker gets going. I’m
surprised we have so many of them on here. Most members seem more difficult to please…0
