First quarter of 2016 was the projected time for the forum update. I would prefer just to see the date when individuals joined, the star system worked at first but it would have been better to have had a limit.

CT activity by day is, perhaps less remarkable:

    Mon

    #######################

    Tue

    #################

    Wed

    ##################

    Thu

    ###############

    Fri

    ################

    Sat

    ###############

    Sun

    ###################

    (avoiding stars, this time)

Of possible interest is that Fri/Sat is comparatively quiet compared to Sun/Mon.

I'm a one star rated motorhomer. I look in most days and will post to help someone. I've only asked for advice a few times and these were all related to CC issues, not motorhome issues. I just find other motorhome sites easier to use. At present, trying
to edit a post with no automatic typo check, some strange behaviours when I try and highlight text for deletion, and the cumbersome actual edit process discourages me. Other forums use 'off the shelf' software which works fine.

The software that this site runs on is "not fit for purpose".

I think the star system has some limited value, and may encourage earlier poster to 'get into' CT.  Those of us who have been on CT for ages hardly notice it.  It would be better if it was possible to reach the point where you are at the top of the star
system very much earlier on in the process.

On the subject of the 'new forum', it is my understanding that the timescale was the first quarter of 2016.  It would be good to have some indication as to what to expect and an indication of whether the original posts/ stories would be transferred.  I am
more concerned about retaining some of the stories - I know some folk have put more time to creating the stories - I know I have.  I am reluctant to spend any more time submitting stories until I know if they are going to be retained.

Perhaps it might be prudent to save on your own hard drive so that they can be uploaded again ICON.

Yes I know what you mean CY.  The trouble is that my 2014 France Trip contains lots of photos - on Photobucket - but to link them all back up takes an age.

All of the very interesting statistics just seem to point out the bleeding obvious....that this forum and its  posters (me included) are only a tiny percentage  of the Whole membership, so Club Policy should not be changed because of  a few persistent  posters
(lobbyists ?) On here. We don't  speak for the majority.

It has just struck me that those with a slow internet connection could well struggle to use this site because of the need to continually refresh/ bring up new pages to follow threads both new and old. It must be a right pain to follow if you have a slow
    internet connection.

Write your comments here...Nobody speaks for the majority, the CC rally centres only represent the tiny numbers who rally.  This forum only represents the views of around 25 members.

who are not represented are the thousands and thousands of members who use CLs and Club Sites.

They have no say in how the CC business should be run. This is a traversty and a failure in the CC management to connect with their customers.

I disagree there is plenty of opportunity to communcate with the Club, it is all down to whether the majority of members are sufficiently interested in doing so. When the Club organises the regional "Meet the Members" function only a small fraction of the members actually turn up and most of them appear to be Center members. I have never been to an RGM but I suspect the same applies there.

I agree the disemination of information has not been the best of late, better use could be made of the Club magazine, but in my experience when the Club does make an effort there isn't a lot of response either because of lack of interest or members are happy with the ways things are.

An interesting statistic would be how many different members have posted on CT in a year, I suspect that is more than most realise?

The CC has every members Email address and it would be a simple matter to send regular questionaires to all members.  Also send CC information.   No cost involved, easy to do and all inclusive.

That they don't do that, could be that they are afraid that the answers won't be as expected.

Agree there is email and I get regular news items using it even if the content is not particularly interesting. Have you forgotten that it wasn't so long ago that monthly surveys on all sorts of subjects were carried out electronically.

Write your comments here...I remember that the CC used that method to poll selected members Peedee thanks.  I believe it was never membership wide.  It was then suspended,-- a cynic might say it was because they were receiving too many WRONG answers Wink

I noticed some activity on here, so just took a ‘peek’ to see what’s going on.

It’s a bit ‘picky’ but the Club does not have everyone’s e-mail, K. An internet identity is not (yet) a requirement for membership and some may not wish to provide an e-mail. You are required to provide an e-mail address to join CT, as part of the
enrolment process, but there’s nothing to stop someone using a temporary one.

I estimate there being around 10,000 different ‘active users’ on CT a year. An ‘active user’ is one who ‘liked’ or contributed in some way. There will be many others who simply pass by (I’d guess up to 10 times as many). We know that the rate of new registrations
is high because we keep being told how the number is growing.

It’s difficult to define a ‘regular user’, but I reckon there are around 500 on CT. They may only be a very small proportion of the membership but are not without opinion and must have some relevance, although not representative.

Thank you Rogher, that is more than I thought. I guess with the software you have, you are in the best position to come up with a good estimate. The only ones who can a provide better answer will be the Club.

But we know we’re unlikely to get a meaningful response because we’ve asked before. Like so many things, the only way is to do it yourself.

Why is the pool of contributors of CT 'not representative'? They are a random group of the main membership so why would they not be representative? Are CT posters drawn from a particular sector of the membership?

CT cannot be repesentative, by it's very nature, as it's an on-line forum, and there will certainly be members of the CC who do not use a computer, small numbers though they may be.

I believe that some members have an axe to grind, others spend more than a ‘healthy’ amount of time on here and, all-in-all are surely not a true random sample. So that’s why I said “not representative.” Perhaps I should’ve said “not entirely representative.”

Yesterday, I saw 130 different user names on the forum. Between them there were 12 new discussions started, 342 additional comments made, and 192 likes. 110 active discussions in total.

Four weeks ago, I saw 154 different user names, who started 22 new discussions and made 477 comments with 301 likes. 181 active discussions in total.

Only a snapshot, of course, but it does suggest a decline.
