    He proabally needs to win all the remaining races as well if he going to retain his world championship with Rosberg having some off days.

    What a boring race though. The only excitement was Alonso in the last few laps.

    Stayed  up  to  watch  --  had  a  hell  of  a  time  trying  to  get  back  to  sleep  when  it  eventually  finished {  at  about  5:15  by  my  calculations  !!  zzzzzzzz  }

    F1 seems to have lost its attraction for me. Its much too beholden to shed loads of money being thrown at it by just a few companies.

    Today I actually find F3 much more exciting to watch as a spectator.  The new electric formulae is dire and I simply can't see it succeeding.

    I quite enjoy F1. OK, so whoever is in front at the first corner may go on to win the race, but, it doesn't always work out that way as demonstrated by Lewis Hamilton when his engine blew up. Also, has the team got the tyre strategy right, will they last
    all the way. Currently Mercedes dominate which means the likes of Ferrari and Red Bull have to come up with different strategies to be competetive. Ferrari aren't doing very well with their strategies at the moment so it's a will they won't they get it right
    situation. Red Bulls Max Verstappen, the youngest F1 driver to win a race, is exciting to watch as he isn't afraid to overtake. There are also battles going on between team mates in the top three teams so another source of excitement. Then there's the pit
    stops, will the pit crew screw up or will they deliver another amazing 2.4 second wheel change. There has been 2 instances recently where wheels have not been secured correctly. As in any sport there are a lot of politics and stewards often interfer in what
    are quite often racing incidents, but there is still excitement to be had if all that is put to one side.

    I think the new rules have made it more competitive and not just about whos got most cash anymore.

    I think it was Eddie Jordan who said we could all save ourselves a load of time if we all met in a room and see who had the biggest cheque.

    Congratulations Nico Rosberg for winning Drivers World Championship.

    Watchig the race I believe that Seb Vettel could see what Hamilton was trying to do and decided to ride shotgun on Nico.  Sort of just like Michael Schumacher letting Seb through to wind the DWC in Brasil

    How boring !!  If Max Verstappen wasn't competing it wouldn't be worth watching.  Enjoyed the Moto GP more this year.  At least there are minimal pit stops and they don't turn the engine power down from the pits.

    Bit of a nail biter for the last ten laps or so. Hamilton has driven well this year and, if it hadn't been for relibility issues, would have won the championship. Equally he did himself no favours by poor starts mid season. Goalposts are shifted for next
    year so it's anyones guess who will be dominant then.

    The cars will be very different next year, I will be very surprised if Mercedes and Hamilton have such and easy time of it.

    There’s little doubt that Hamilton is the best driver, and he  was doing all he could to win the drivers championship.  I don’t think he did anything wrong. Didn’t see Rosburg attacking much or trying to overtake Hamilton so he can’t really complain.

    The team ended up with first and second in the race and the drivers championship as well as the constructors championship so they should have no complaints either.

    If I was to ignore an instruction by my boss I would be in front of a disciplinary quicker than the speed of light.  Mercedes make millions of pounds of equipment/facilities availble to their drivers but the team are the bosses, he disobeyed an instruction.  Once again Hamilton was out of order with his team by trying to put personal gain before the team!  Serves him right if the team suspended him for a couple of races next year

    If I'd been Hamilton, I'd have done exactly the same. If he was going that slow why couldn't Nico get past? Because Hamilton is the better driver.

    Quite right, let's hope they do. Totally arrogant, ungracious and a complete spoilt whinger - no wonder he's one of the most disliked amongst all those in front & behind the scenes in F1 - the better man won

    It's racing, if the team wanted Rosberg to win the tittle ,they should have left hamilton in the garage , anyway i thought team orders were banned.....

    I think that was part  the problem HD, not much racing went on. It was more akin to a game of chess than a motor race. On balance IMO Hamilton acted in an unsporting manner. He did not break any rules, other than the teams. Unless you count those of sportsmanship.

    I find Hamilton a difficult person to like for all the reasons mentioned by others. What he did yesterday was unsporting. I am not convinced that Seb and Max tried too hard to overtake Nico because they could see what was happening up ahead. Had Hamilton
    set out to win the race by going as fast as he could who knows what might have happened behind him. Atleast he would have earnt a bit of respect by doing that.

    As with most sports, it isn't about 'Sportsmanship', it's about 'Winning'  It's always been the same, so don't let anyone tell you differently.

    With a net worth of a reported c£190 million and this year's salary of c£40million, (never mind the same again in product promotional deals) why should he care about sportsmanship?

    Much the same with pro footballers earning £200k per week whether they play or not.

    For me F1 and its drivers, has become far too much like a Prima Donna. Too much big money involved etc etc.

    Personally I think that a far more interesting motorsport event for TV would be a mixture of F3 racing and saloon car racing!

    Oh boy someone who thinks the same as me and OH. Lewis was trying to win the championship and the race, its called tactics. Tito Wolf said on qualitying day that the team can give them directions but the drivers will decide for themselves if they will obey
    them Wink he knew what Lewis would do before he even went out there. If the shoe had been on the other foot do you not think Nico wouldn't have tried
    to something similar, like pushing Lewis off Surprised come on its racing and the last few laps were some of the best this season. Lewis
    didn't win the championship because he had an engine problem during the season, he also didn't perform very well after the summer break, Nico did and that's where IMO he won it.

    Not sure Lewis gives a fig what people think of him, he's out there to win, its what he does. Being nice in F1 doesn't make you a winner. Even if Max and Seb had overtaken Nico it wouldn't have made any differance to them, it could only affect Nico, don't
    forget Seb is also German. No love lost with Max and Nico though but his tyres just were not up to it, shame as I would have liked to see him on the podium.

    As an example of tactics. Many years ago my brother and I were sailing against another pair in two boat team racing. A winning score was either first and second or first and third.  The lead boat got away, so we focused on pushing the other boat down to
    fourth position. It wasn't about boat speed but tactics. As has been mentioned earlier on this thread, more akin to chess. All we had to do was ensure we had second and third to win. We sailed accordingly pushing the other boat all over the course to ensure
    he stayed behind until the final dash for the line. The object of the exercise is to win. That is all that Hamilton did.
