. All we had to do was ensure we had second and third to win. We sailed accordingly pushing the other boat all over the course to ensure he stayed behind until the final dash for the line.

I recall Ben Ainsley also adopted those tactics in the (U.K?) Olympics. As a lapsed fanatical dinghy and yacht racer I found it gripping stuff. Brilliant!

All drivers are employed by a team, they are the servant of the team and therefore just like any employee they are oblige to follow their instructions.  Personally I hope that the Mercedes board suspend Hamilton for the first 3 races of 2017, that would
show him who the boss is.

Given Tito Wolf's interview before the race I very much doubt that will happen.  Nico should have taken him then if it bothered him that much, given that he is supposedly the better driver Undecided
next you'll be suggesting they fit indicators so they can act like gentlemenWink

I understand your point Oneputt but Hamilton proved the team wrong. They were telling Hamilton that they would loose the race if he continued to drive at the slower pace. He continued at a slower pace and they ended the race in first and second place so the teams prediction was not bourn out by the eventual facts.

Write your comments here...Hamilton did nothing wrong. He won the race for Mercedes ( within the rules of F1) and that is all that matters.  It's not for the back-office staff to tell the driver how fast he should go or what risks he should take to win the race. The driver uses his own judgement and experience.   Hamilton won -- Mercedes should be delighted and admit they got it wrong !

    Cheers................K

If you believe all the rumours, Hamilton has already threatened to quit Mercedes once already this year. If true, it could be suspending him is more than Mercedes dare do.

Write your comments here...Apparently there are rumours that McClaren haven't totally given up on Lewis Hamilton.

At least he won't have to decide to drive slowly then as Honda will assist him !

Hamilton never seems happy whatever team he is with? It wouldn't surprise me that he and Vettle do a swap at some point.

The dancing horse seems to have been very lacklustre for the past couple of seasons. These things seem to go in cycles. Ferrari were dominant during Schumi's reign. Then it was McLaren, followed by Red Bull and now Mercedes. A few years back, Mercedes were
rubbish when Schumi was driving for them. Who knows who will have that little bit of magic next year.

Because their areo is so good wouldn't be suprised if Red Bull took the lead again, they have never had the most powerful engine though.

Ferrari's most successful period was when they had a Frenchman and a Brit in charge of the team!  Read an article recently that essentially it won't be successful whilst its run like an Italian team.  Their management is pretty much a shambles,  Vettel could
have won 2 maybe 3 races this year but for poor management decisions.  They need to get someone in of the calibre of Ross Brawn.

Mercedes will just keep pumping money into F1 until they get fed up, or people stop buying their cars, then they will do a bunk
