Showers in caravans

We've caravanned for nearly 40 yrs, in all conditions, and have used a shower in the caravan ever since there became a standard fitting. I don't have any problem filling our water barrel or disposing of the grey water. Must admit that with the Aldi rapid
water heater it ensures that we have plenty of hot water. We leave it switched on during showering so that there's hot water available again after one of us has finished drying and getting dressed.0 -
Simple. You shower on Monday,Wednesday and Fridays and the OH on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays leaving you both clean one day either side of Sunday, thus proving John Wesley's maxim that "cleanliness is next to Godliness".

Somebody commented that a poster gave too much information in his post. I would say there was not quite enough information. When he said Quote :-
" Using site facilities depends on your personal level of hygiene you can't beat your own facilities. I have heard on more than one ocassion two men talking in the loos
and one saying to the other that he had a good **** whilst showering and also onmore than one ocassion a male saying that his wife has done it as well. I'll never use site facilities I prefer my own personal facilities
that's what they are there for but it's each to their own. Your body your choice" End quote.I am left wondering what the 4 lettered word in asterisks was. ---- For clarification can you, without mentioning the word, let us know if it started with the letter S or the letter P
K .
It starts with the letter "P". It's amazing listening to other peoples conversations sometimes. Either they are proud of what they do or simply forget that there are people around within earshot.

We use the caravan shower and have never run out of water. The caravan has an ecocamel head but to be frank we have not noticed any difference to the previous carvans.
Not sure where the 60 litre figure for a shower comes from but it looks a lot to us.
We use the caravan for convenience and comfort. It is far easier for us to use and no walk accross the site in cold and wet weather, no cold concrete or tiled floor and a nice warm carpet to get out onto.

The submariners shower was wet, rub, rinse. I used the same technique in Greece due to water shortages. Have not run out of water yet!

Mostly use the onsite facilities but we have used the vans, good shower Ecocamel with 100 lts to play with and 10 lts in hot water tank there is no skimping, if we are using the vans facilities we never turn the hot water heater off, we run it at 1kw then turn up to 2kw prior to shower so second person has plenty then turn back down to 1 kw afterwards.
Its the cleaning down and drying the shower and screen that I hate, do others do that after every shower or just leave it to dry naturally?

Always wipe the walls and door down, we are not blessed with an all in one plastic shower unit. Ours had the textured walls, so I make sure all the seals are dry, but still prefer our own shower to the site facilities.

We occasionally use our caravan shower, but only ever when we are on a full serviced pitch with water hook-up and drainage. Like others, we could be bothered with carrying all the water.

How long does it take to have a stroll to the nearby tap and fill an aquaroll and stroll back? to me it's all part of the holiday, there is no plane to catch or rush to get to the tap first or wait hours to queue up but if people don't like to do that then it's their business, their holiday. Each to their own so they say. We don't carry our water either, we have two aquarolls so it is easy to just pull along.

I have used our shower just once to see if it was any good, my wife refuses point blank to even try it as she feels claustraphobic in it. I only book sites with shower facilties to save any arguments.

I feel that those who don't use their own facilties are really missing out on great sites such as CLs etc. Water management only takes a few minutes a day

AA - yes I realise we're missing out on some stunning locations. But for us, it's not about water management, it's practicalities. We simply don't have room in the van to be able to use the shower. Happily, though, we are prepared to use non facility sites
if it's just for a couple of nights or so, even if it does mean we end up a bit whiffy!0 -
In the UK the question is not "Will it rain?" but "How long for this time", so why has no enterprising manufacturer come up with a simple add-on false roof for caravans that chanels the rainwater into the supply tank?

I clean/wipe out the shower after either of us has used it. It takes less than 5 mins using a j cloth folloed by an old dry face flannel. Easy peasy.

Wouldn't fancy using rain water for washing, cooking or in the kettle, but it would do to fill the header tank for the toilet flush.

Pretty much what I do when we use it, by the time I'm finished though I need another shower
I rather like the walk in, use, walk out, of the facilities block, especially in Spain where there's usually a nice lady waiting with a mop to clean it out for you0 -
Our very first caravan didn't have a shower, but our second (current) one does! 30 years old, always gives a decent shower. Only time I need more than one aquaroll is if I follow OH into shower and wash my long hair, takes some rinsing getting conditioner
out, sure some ladies will sympathise! I am happy to use on board facilities most of time, will occasionally use site showers if clean and to wash hair. We use one of those super absorbent micro towels beloved of competition swimmers to dry down walls, takes
seconds to do!0 -
My wife uses ours. I put the water heater on boost or max and it's fine otherwise she would moan like hell.

We use Karcher window vac
We give it a quick wipe down. No more trouble than cleaning up behind you in the toilet block for those that clean the ones in the toilet block.

Nothing like getting out of bed, putting the kettle on and strolling to the end of the van for a hot shower. Get out, make tea and take a cup to Tina (who's usually still in bed!). She then showers and I go off to refill the aquaroll. Only
time we only get one shower out of the aquaroll is if she wants to wash and condition her hair.it is an end washroom and is a bit luxurious in a way and would never be without it.

We used to use a mop but if it's not good enough for the CC then it's not good enough for us........
