I have just been on CC LiveChat asking for the Chairmans email address and they claim they don't have it ?????
either they are trying to protect him from the members or he is shameful in keeping it secret from his own staff.
can anyone share it here please as I wish go email him directly to complain about the show.

Lighten up people. Its a TV programme, not real life. How many ordinary members entered this competition? By the very nature of the thing more "interesting" people would be the entrants. Well done the ladies who showed their husbands (and themselves) that they were perfectly capable of driving their rigs. Many ladies do not have the confidence to drive their vans as their other halves undermine them. If this programme did one thing it should give non towing/motorhoming partners the boost they need to try their rigs.
I'm sure the chairman reads CT as he has talked about it at a show.

I've literally just cancelled all forward bookings on CC sites for the remainder of this year and will be replacing them with C&CC bookings and commercial sites. After the portrayal shown last night, the club are not deserving of almost £1000 of my money,
I'll put it elsewhere instead. If their is no apology forthcoming to the members for this debacle or should the Chairman not offer to stepdown, I won't be renewing my membership come November. Whilst I'm an advocate of CC sites (see my posts in other threads),
the way the TV Programme portrayed caravanning personalities last night is beyond belief and has completely changed my perception of the club. A massive opportunity was missed to make the hobby look 'cool' and appealing to the next generation of caravanners
and motorhomers. The manufacturers are doing their best to appeal to the wider audience, the Sport & Fun caravan, contemporary internal designs, even fitting bike rack mounts on caravans as standard. Yet, it's the biggest and most subscribed club that is doing
it's best to keep our hobby in the dark ages. Not good enough Caravan Club, you ought to be ashamedHad you a booking at Burford for the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend, per chance?
I did as it goes but I cancelled that a week or so ago, going to Field Barn Park, Bourton instead.

The only good bit of "caravaning" I saw was from the Green VW team who disconnected their traitor and pushed it around the reversing course. This is because it was so small it was invisible to the driver whilst reversing so it was the safest way and it was
what they always do in real life.Totally agree he was the only one who showed common sense last night and he got penalised for it. Get the mans name and address so we can vote for him as CEO.

When we have threads on here about excessive site fees, poor warden service, state of sites, possible ite sales, etc. we now find what the bods at HO do. Waste time, money and reputation on trivia and forget the basics. Will any one own up- no chance. Carry
on as usual in our isolated HO and keep drinking the tea.0 -
All of the contestants were, obviously, suffering some form of OCD. I wonder if it was an entry requirement?

Full agreement with your first sentence This programme had a serious title and many were expecting a serious programme, but it did
not happen, it was a farce. You can bet your bottom dollar it was a condition by the programme makers that entertainment value must be a priority, if not it would not have happened. The CC made a boob, but I laughed all the way through it, plus it won't affect my caravanning tomorrow or in the future.

Really entertaining, for those that loved, "Carry on Camping".
But if the Caravan Club wanted to re-enforce the sterotypes that members are 42 year old virgins with OCD, then it was a factual documentary. So one of the 6 couples for competing for the title, "Caravanner of the Year" didn't own an awning and had never put one up. The caravan club's chairman should consider his position (please resign) and I'll be removing my CC sticker today. It was a complete embarrassment.

I loved the weirdness of the contestants, and was sickened by the chairman with his control of a billion pounds a year, and he behaves like that

My OH is having a purge around the house at the moment, throwing out stuff "we don't need". I still have a thermal balaclava from my motor-cycling days some twenty years ago. Fortunately it has survivied the cull. Spare a thought for my discomfort wearing
it during the summer as I tow my caravan.0 -
O dear where do they find these people or is it,like any "realiity" show a look at how weird some people are, ,and a "chairman " who should know better, at least only one caravan got damaged by "stupidity",do not think we will watch part two

We have been caravanning for 36 years and Club members for 27 and are appalled and the light in which this programme portrayed serious caravanning.Jeremy Clarkson definitely came to mind. I'm sure he would want to endorse the programme. Who in their right
mind would ask an inexperienced tower to reverse an expensive outfit? As for that being a cross section of the caravanning fraternity,I think not. I think the Chairman and his team of producers owe us all an abject apology.Stu and Jane

Oh dear is it true that we have fancy dress next week ? I have enjoyed caravanning for many years but I have never found it necessary to wear fancy dress. Have I been missing something.

OMG - I've gone hot with embarrassment! This programme was designed, produced and edited by someone who hates hates hates caravanners! Is this a late April fools? Even the commentary was in a vain where she could have been accused of taking the mick . I
take my hat off to the folks who put themselves through this ordeal. I'll just stay anonymous thanks!0 -
C'mon how could you say it wer'nt funny, you had combover running round his van cos he thought he'd run his old mum over, the silly moo rolling her knickers up in the right order, the dope who ripped the back of his van off putting white gloves on an criticising
a bit of dust on a trailer, and whay about old long hair's wife cracking up at the errection comment (awning) brilliant, cant wait for next week...0 -
Cringeworthy! CC done more damage than Clarkson has ever done! Has the club a secret agenda to get every caravanner labelled as a complete social misfit?

Aaaaarrrrgghh! awful programme obviously designed to make vanners/motorhomers look daft. OH couldn't believe the stupidy or pointlessness of some of the tasks. How could the Club allow this? It will have reinforced many people's negative views about
our hobby. We seriously wonder about renewing our membership.0 -
The problem I have with this programme is that every time i'm out and about I see hundreds of competent vanners doing good stuff in pitching, setting up etc and enjoying themselves withoput being prattish. This programme seems to dispel that. The judges
are in a word pathetic. This programme has made us vanners a laughing stock and brought the club into disrepute with an already skeptical non
vanning public..So true

There I was considering 'coming out' as a caravanner to my friends and family but after this show was aired, I think I'd rather stay in the closet! I'd heard that caravanning was becoming more 'socially acceptable' amongst my generation (mid-thirties), but
this debacle soon put paid to that idea. On the plus side, I get the excitemtent of keeping my dirty little secret for a little longer (maybe another 20 years or so?).0 -
Did anyone else enter the caravan of the year competition to be on this show? (And I do mean show!) Where was it advertised? Well of course we all know it wasn't! These people were hand picked for the 'entertainment value.' That poor old lady of 81, clearly
didn't know why she was there, and who in there right mind would ask her to reverse a caravan she had never towed before? Oh yes the Chairman of the CC!!!! How stupid. Good on her for having a go though. At one stage she was stood right behind a reversing
caravan, at this point the Chairman should have stepped forward to say this is not what we do in the CC , it is dangerous, but no. These people were picked - in most cases because their outfits were different. I have never been to a rally but do they really
have competitions where they put on white gloves and inspect your caravan?! Just asking because one couple seemed to know that they would get extra points for rolled underwear in a cupboard. Or did this just try to give a bad name to rallies as well.0
