Hot water - not hot
Im having a new kitchen fitted as home this week the OH is going to cook meals in the caravan on the drive,,I've just filled the onboard tank after drawing for winter & the hot water isn't hot only warm,,am I doing something wrong or do I need to let it
run a while.
my van is a 2014 sterling Eccles.

Maybe you’re a little impatient. It will take a little while to heat up, especially if the water is cold to start with. Is it hot now? Are you heating with gas or just electric?

your van is (almost certainly) fitted with a Truma Combi....the 1800w 'EL2' setting should heat the water to 60 deg in 20-30 mins.....

Electric will take far longer than gas and, at home, may not be saving you anything in cost at all.
if I turn gas on will it automatically switch hot water from electric to gas or do I have to alter settings on the Aldi control panel.

If it's similar to my hot water (Truma, not Aldi) then both gas & electric work in tandem

As you have the Alde, the water should heat up in less than 30 minutes, quicker using gas.
How many KW did you set the electricity to?
As well as heating the water, was it trying to heat the van too? If so, heating the water would take longer.
If you want to use gas instead of electricity, you need to select gas (the little flame) on the controller AND deselect electricity (no kw number showing), otherwise it will use electricity in preference to gas.
If you want to heat only water, set the van temperature to lower than the ambient, and select the water boost if you want extra-hot water. It will boost the water temp for 30 minutes (great for showers) and cut off the heating pump temporarily.

With the Alde, if you give it both gas and electricity it will always use electricity first and only add in the gas if necessary.
As things warm up it will automatically cut down the gas use, cutting it out altogether in the end, and use just electricity to maintain the temperature.
It's quite a clever system.

Not really, it does it all automatically, you just need to choose the settings you want.
There is an "urban myth" that the Alde is complicated to use, so much so that a lot of people never try to use the many excellent features.
Basically.....people, mainly we men, think reading and following instructions is beneath them, so lose patience.

Actally, the older Alde is a nightmare to programme and I had to consult my abbreviated instructions every time. That's why they switched to the newer control panel which I believe is more intuitive.
