I have just read a review on a cc site in the West Midlands where the wardens have put up a" name& shame"board,as they are having trouble with speeding .I know this as I have recently returned from said site. The poster of the review has put that they think
it's,and I quote "a bit pathetic" .That to me is an insult to the wardens,as they are at least attempting a positive reaction to an ongoing problem .Any views on this? .Rant over .

I suspect the 'bit pathetic' reviewer probably found himself on said board. Why else would he comment in a negative way?

Good for the wardens in attempting to bring some control to the situation.

A very good attempt to try to make the few who "what part of 5mph do you not understand" be shamed into realising that they are now public knowledge

Diglea site used to do this (not a CC) and it seemed to be effective. Didnt rate the site in other ways but thought this was a great idea.

Good on the Wardens. Over to the Club now to give them support and remove said speeders from site. One warning and then off, bye! Quickest way to give a lesson on  acceptable site behaviour.Laughing

Great initative, fully support it.  About time some of these clowns were banned from club sites.  I just don't understand their stupid mentality or complete lack of judgement.

Good for the wardens. Let's hope folk back their initiative to name and shame any speeders. And let's also hope the CC back them up on this if repeat culprits have their details forwarded to HO!

Are the wardens  using a "speed gun" type device or is it subjective ?

...Why ? ,do you not know if some one is exceeeding a walking pace

Not if you have a witness that you had to run to keep up with them.

You may think you know but making accusations which cannot then be proven can get the accuser into serious trouble.

...As stated by numerous posters who "understand" instead of just trying to make out that you cannot

Seems some will criticise any attempt to do something about anti social speeding on site. Might as well just shrug our shoulders and let 'em carry on regardless, I suppose! Sad

Oh for heavens sake take a video of it then. We are not worried about 6 or even 8 mph it's when idiots rip through at 15 or 20 ( yes they do) and that is  obvious. Defending them by splitting hairs doesn't help anyone including them if something horrid was to happen. As the safety guys used to say "hands up anyone that wants to make a visit or phone call to explain that they are responsible for a serious or fatal injury"

...So true but as "some" do not use cc sites as real members do they cannot really comment on a subject that would in their "perfect worlds" be alien to them Wink

Think it's a great idea and wardens should be applauded for doing it 'cos there really is no excuse.

Not criticising or defending speeding as you seem to be insinuating but just getting into "you were speeding Oh no I wasnt" arguments will solve nothing and only cause unpleasantness .

BTW JVB less of the "usual antagonists"  I thought that sort of term had been judged  not to be in line with the T&Cs

Not "insinuating" anything David. Just think it's sad that any action like this which might just make folk think twice about speeding on site should immediately be questioned. Seeing such a board at reception would surely act as a disincentive for even the most self centred driver?

There as an old guy on an electric buggy doing 8 mph on the A38 dual carriageway the other day with traffic flying round him.  He'd get stopped on a club site.

Wardens can't win; some people complain that they "turn a blind eye" to speeders on site (and barking dogs, and early arrivals, etc); yet when they try and do something about it, that seems no good either to some.....

    i think it's a good idea.
