10 - 15 miles more per tankful I might just believe.

My self and a few others have tried it, since using Jet I now get 10-15 m.p.g. more than I did using morrisons/asda.
When getting low m.p.g. with my punto the garage mecanics told me to use branded fuel, I never noticed any differance with petrol but D.E.R.V. is a different kettle of fish
Whilst living in East Yorkshire your Jet fuel is likely to come from the Phillips 66 refinery, I can definitely tell you that both Phillips 66 and Total (the refinery next door) also supply all the local/regional supermarkets and all the the other "branded" forecourt retailers.
Your Jet fuel, if standard BS EN 590 will be identical to that sold in the supermarket!
Any mileage difference (I refer to MM's description) is due to other factors, and your garage mechanic is suffering from the Dunning-Kruger effect!

99% of all my diesel comes from supermarkets and , to date, have not had a problem over several cars.
The mention of Jet fuel in an earliper post reminded me of a problem that I had about 30 years ago. I had a new Volvo 480 which was a brand new model at the time. Because of my job I filled up with petrol at many different stations over the country. I used
to get a problem, though, if I came to restart the car within 10 minutes of stopping the engine. For the first 1 to 2 minutes the engine would run as rough a bu**ery and then be OK. What I found was that if I had filled up with Jet petrol I didn't get the
problem. I reported the problem to the car dealer who tried to find the cause but couldn't but also poopooed the idea of Jet petrol not resulting in the problem. In desperation they tried some tests using Jet and, low and behold, they found they didn't experience
the problem Which they had with other fuel makes. They, nor Volvo seemed able to offer any meaningful explanation so, until I sold the car I used Jet whenever possible.0 -

I do remember there was a problem with I think it was a Shell fuel but that seemed to affect only Vauxhalls and Volvos which makes me wonder if some makes are mopre sensitive to the fuel

Many garages back then did stick more to their own brands. I do recall there is a jet garage directly opposite the refinery (conoco, as it was back then) and being told the reason it was so expensive was because the prices were set in rings of increasing
price, from the head office.... in London!...not sure how true that was!
