Any info on Kiko Park Rural

We like to try new sites and wondered if anyone has been to Kiko Park Rural in Villargordo del Cabriel (not Oliva)?  We like good walking/cycling/scenery.

We've been to Navajas and Vall de Laguar in Valenciana, so any other suggestions for suitable sites most welcome.  Thanks, Graham.

We've visited twice in early spring.  On both ocasions the site was very quiet, plenty of room.  The pitches are a good size, level, gravel.  The facilities are set along an old village street.  Clean, warm and adequate.  Reception friendly.  There is a
restaurant although we have not tried it.

The High Speed Train runs between tunnels quite close to the site.  Looks spectacular and the noise is not a problem at all.

From the site the little road goes on down to the reservoir, good walks and I expect cycling.

Back up the hill to the village and either the old main road or the motorway takes you to the main dam.  The motorway and the railway cross the end of the reservoir in a series of amazing bridges.  The old road takes you over the dam, then a turn to the
left winds down to the foot of the dam, passing, if I remember rightly, a cafe/bar on the way down.  We saw a group of wild goats here. All this is within cycling distance if you are fit enough to get back up the hill to Villagordo.

I don't recall there being much by way of supermarkets in Villagordo, although there are a number of village shops.  The nearest supermarket was in Requena 30km on the motorway toward Valencia.  Further afield, to the south west, is Tarazona de la Mancha,
where Laurie Lee spent time in the Civil War, and Albacete with a fine cathedral and some old shopping arcades.

    Would we go again.  Certainly.

Many thanks for that, OAT.  Sounds like it could be worth a visit.

We've stopped there twice. The first time out of curiosity having beeen to Oliva. It was freeeezing cold but the construction of the railway provided some interest. We went a second time as an overnight stop, but can't remember why!

The site is pretty isolated and stands on a prominontory at the end of a single-track road miles from anywhere. It's for really serious walkers only!

Thanks, Chas, sounds like we might like it.  For us the coastal sites are the ones to avoid, so thank goodness that's where most folk go.

Any other ideas in Valenciana anyone?

"Any other ideas in Valenciana anyone?" There's always Navajas, favoured by Club members as an overnight stop, but worth a short stay.

Yes, we stopped there last year for a few days and cycled part of the Via Verde, north, which is "uphill" so hardly had to pedal on the way back.  Then we went to Val De Laguar and did the 5000 steps, among other things.
