Aires on sat nav

Hi all.

Does anyone know of any sat navs that have preloaded aires in France and Spain and if so what make?

    Don't know of any specific makes of sat nav which come with them preloaded but you can download plenty of POIs from web sites and put them on a sat nav or you can buy USB sticks with the data on or there are Apps around for use on tablets and smart phones..

    Check out the ones advertised for caravanning which contain ACSI, Caravan Club sites etc. My Snooper which is like this also has Aires too. But they are simply POIs so a good Google should find some.

    You can download the Aires from various websites such as CamperContact.  I have the Club SatNav which is made by Garmin and you can download Garmin Basecamp to your computer, load the Aires and transfer to the Sat Nav.

    I've been very impressed with Club SatNav and it comes pre-loaded with a lot of sites both in UK and Europe.  See it here: SatNav

    yes, archiescamping has them or go the source site campingcar-infos.com

    loading them on to my old tomtom is easy by using a windows pc....

    not so easy with the more 'modern' tomtoms...where POI files have to be 'vetted' (like Apple) prior to upload...

    The original poster is a caravanner, so I presume he means Service Stations and Picnic areas (which in France are called Aires) rather than the Aires de Service Camping Car, which I think is what most people have posted about.

    As map users (rather than SatNav) we find the easiest way is to find them is on our Michelin map - and then use the map to note other good areas to stop which are not classified 'officially' as Aires.  We mark these pages, and then move the markers when
    we buy another newer map.

    I am currently a caravaner but looking ahead to my retirement plan in a motorhome...hence why i havent looked at aires before. Currently in loire valley and had a look at a couple of aires and they look lovely.

    Good point Val I hadn't noticed that but if it is only Aires on autoroutes that are required then the web site >Campingcar-info< includes these in its download. Once you have opened the zipped file the different types are then seperated out and you can then load only those which are on the autoroutes onto a Sat Nav.. There also used to be a small atlas (note book size) of autoroutes in France available but I haven't seen that on the market for some time. This used to give lots of info about the aires, distances and tolls.

    Don't all normal sat navs have the aires included anyway? Maybe not as a poi  (can't remember) or if they do they may come under parking or service or fuel station but they definitely show up when driving.

    Not something I have observed MT but then I do not use autoroutes that much. They certainly show fuel stations.

    Another option is an App for your phone.  Campercontact is very comprehensive and the full version is about £5.  You can download offline maps so it'll work without a connection and you can try out a lite version free.  It even has a routing function, but
    you can simply copy the co-ordinates to your sat nav.

    The App doesn't just give POI's, as some do, but there's photos, reviews and lots of other info.  There is also a website.

    In have a Snooper sat nav that is loaded with Aires mine is 3 years old now and i use it all the time for Aires Acsi camper stops Board Atlas has been really usefull especialy as i dont plan or book stops.
