Late night arrival in Dieppe

After much dithering we are making our first trip to France with car and caravan. We are due to arrive in Dieppe at 11 o'clock at night on the 8th of August. Any advice and experience regarding a place to stay close to Dieppe at that late hour would be appreciated.
                          Many thanks                                                                          Steve

Blimey Steve, you're throwing yourself 'in at the deep end' with a late night arrival!  I'm sure someone will come along with some ideas - it's a very long time since we used the Dieppe route.

Sorry no one has come up with any suggestions - there have been a lot of recent new topics and so your question has 'disappeared' over the page, so I'm bringing it back to the top again.

Thanks ValDa for revitilising the queston. We live in Brighton so Newhaven to Dieppe is very convenient. I'm more concerned about travelling in August but the trip is part of an eightieth birthday celebration in Carcasonne.

we have usd Dieppe a couple of times fairly rcently but we had daytime arrivals and stopped on the aire in town as we have a MH.

however, Camping des 2 Rivieres is close by and can be reviewed on google maps...

    Hi Steve

I am along at Telscombe Cliffs and often use the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry crossing but I normally book on the midnight sailings, get my 'old Gits discount' and arrive early in the morning in Dieppe to start my journey South. There is a Aires very close to
the ferry terminal if you have a motorhome if you head into Dieppe. If you are towing a caravan then don't head into Dieppe but go up the hill from the roundabout at the ferry terminal and make you way around Dieppe. Arriving at that time of night not many
places will be open and if you are tired after the crossing you might have to find a lorry park to park up at before starting your journey. I find looking on Google Earth a good way to find a lorry park to rest up at.

    Iain

It can be difficult to find a site which will accept arrivals at such a late hour - but perhaps worth a call to the site BB mentions to ask the question - sometimes they have easily accessible pitches and might keep one available for you.

I don't know how you feel about staying outside of a campsite (we've done it many times over the years), but on the way out of Dieppe on the N27 there is a Hotel Balladins to the east of the road.  As you drive in there, before you reach the hotel there is a parking area which may be OK for a bit of shut-eye.   You could have a look on Google earth to see where I mean.  We have stayed on supermarket car parks, the car park of a railway station, and on what was effectively a 'village green'!  (There is a Lidl on Street View, near to the Balladins).

Many thanks to all for your replies. I'm reassured we'll find somewhere, one way or other.   Steve

There is a large motorhome parking area on the sea front on the opposite side of the harbour / inlet from where the ferries dock. You just have to work your way around the estuary and through the town to get there.

If you look on Google earth, you'll see a long, thin car park on the sea front and the motorhome area is the square area at the end, near the harbour.

There are loads of motorhomes parked up there usually.

ian, the OP has a caravan though aires are out...Undecided

but as Val says, staying just out side of a campsite might be ok, we have done this once before...
