Not had a problem so far with Master Cards from Caxton and credit cards. Visa seems to be falling from favour just like Amex has always been. The rate has fallen dramatically from 1.30 to 1.23 last time I looked.

Be interested to hear from other members holidaying in France to see if its a general problem or a one off with your friend, Crissy. Thanks for highlighting potential problem.

Write your comments here...but thats a credit card. Crissy refers to debit cards. Nice to know Caxton working ok but others may just be using their debit cards.

Friends living there have had no problems in the ATM near Perpignan this afternoon, no problem in the supermarket, or the DIY shop and these transactions were on two different debit cards - so I suggest we all stop worrying!

Perhaps Crissy's friend, knowing the the pound was falling, tried to get too much cash out and  overdid her daily limit of withdrawals?
