Lovely town, very scenic you should be able to find plenty if pictures on net built on a coastal hill well worth a visit. Plenty of campsites nearby we stayed at Camping Valdaliso in 2010 a short distance from the town. Harbour/seafront and old town has
a very good selection of resturants, plenty of good tourist attractions boat trips etc. At that time Croatia was not part of the EU we did get a feeling they operated a price for tourists and a price for locals but not a problem. Roads were good, there should
be a completed motorway from the Slovenian Border now. If you have time a stopover at Lake Bled in Slovenia is again worth a visit, the capital Lubljana was OK but would`nt go if time is short. Passing through Slovenia requires a vignette, again roads are
    of a good quality.

We toured Istria in 2008. The roads were varied and the campsites varied in size from small mini autocamps to large commercial sites. This link may help.

In Rovinj now at Camping Polari. All motorways and expressway are good, but A and B roads can get a little bumpy!! It is a easy drive down to Rovinj from Bled. This campsite lets you use ACSI, you can pay a top up if you want a pitch right on the sea. Just
having a coffee in the sunshine overlooking a beautiful bay.

Thanks all for replying. DJG . Polari was one site i was looking at, is acces to and on site ok with caravan. Probably go down to Croatia first, mid to late may then back to Austria for June. Don't use all the sunshine up, sat here writing this looking out at rain and sleet. Is it better to get currency once there. Also thanks ChasnCath for the link.

Roads are easy and Rovinj is beautiful. We stayed at Autocamp Porton Biondi in 2013 just on the edge of town and easily walkable. Bled is also very beautiful and Lubljana is lovely and very vibrant (1/3 of the locals are under 30). It all depends how
much time you have got. But personally if you have two months taking in a bit of Slovenia and Croatia will be very worthwhile. We had  no issues at all with any roads in either country albeit we drive a small(ish) campervan.

We were in Croatia last May/June. You can read my story from Rovinj HERE and if you want to read of other places we stayed on that tour look at the ones before and after from my stories. Regards, Roy

Big wide road to the campsite from town, lots of room to park at reception and big pitches with good acces roads around the campsite. I take cash with me and exchange on site. Example M & S was 8.82 in UK, I got 9.13 at reception. If you want you can get
better in town. Must go, sun's up and time for coffee outside by the sea.

If you watch TV, I get all Sky channels here with big dish and BBC, ITV Ch 4,5 on wifi, which is free this year and covers all the site.
