Couple of questions: Channel crossing, open ticket

Can you still buy an open return or is it best to buy a single ticket out then get a single ticket on the way back? What is the best way? Looking at our 2017 holiday June or July (yes), Dover
/ Dunkirk ferry then driving to Travemunde, Germany with an overnight stop on the way, getting a single journey on the Stena Line ferry to Liepaja, Latvia; then it’s just 88 miles to our destination. Staying in Latvia for around 3 weeks or a bit more, maybe
the possibility of a short trip into Estonia, then driving back through Lithuania, spending 3 or 4 nights in Poland, 3 or 4 nights in Germany and then the ferry back to Dover.

A Latvian friend owns a farm and guesthouse with a basic camping ground (tents), stayed many a time in the guesthouse over the years, so we can pitch the caravan near to it for electric hook
up.

We will also use other sites we have passed in some nice areas and if needed we could leave the caravan at the farm
if we went off to visit an area with no sites (we have seen some bad ones), using hotels for a few nights.

Next question, recommendations for a site near to Warsaw, have looked at Camping Wok, to the south east of the city, bus from site gate to city; (According to the Polish Federation of
Camping and Caravanning best of its kind in Warsaw and one of the best in Poland)
anyone stayed there?

Looked at a couple of ACSI sites near to Berlin and easy to get into the city by train.

The joy of retirement!!

Thanks.

I would book a single outward ferry crossing (but I don't think you can book for 2017 yet) and then book your return once you know a definite date.

Sorry can't help with any of your other questions, but have a great trip.

I have always understood open returns to be much more expensive? One advantage of using Eurotunnel is that you can change your crossing up to 24 hours before the booked ones. They will only charge extra if its in a more expensive price band. I did it last yer and it cost about £20

With regards to sites near Berlin we have stayed at a couple:- Campingpark Sanssouci and Camping Jagerbude not sure if they are ACSI although Jagerbude might be. Sanssouci run a free bus service to the local tram which takes you to Potsdam station for the direct link into Berlin. From Jagerbude it is a short drive to the station where there is parking for direct train into Berlin. Same line as from Potsdam but coming from the other direction. There are a couple of sites nearer into Berlin run by the Berlin Caravan Club but doubt they would be ACSI. Berlin is well worth a visit if you have not been before and try and find time to visit Potsdam.

Edit:- apologies having seem Tammygirls post I realised I got it wrong, should be DCC not BCC!!! See here for link

When we visited Berlin we stayed at Camping Kladow, it is an Acsi site but not Acsi discount, its a DCC (deutche camping club) site. Nice big pitches good sanfacs. Near a lake just outside campsite. Nice cycle path ride around lake. Easy drive into Berlin where we parked the car, 17 Juni Strasse, its the main street going up to the Brandenberg Gate, up by the Tiergarten, there is free parking along side the road and in the middle of the road. Berlin is a wonderful city we much prefered it to Paris and Barcelona. Berlin can get very hot in July/August so if you can go in June I would do so, also July/August is main German holidays.
