Watching TV from a laptop in Spain

We are heading for Spain shortly and want to watch ITV and BBC IPlayer etc abroad.  Does anyone have a view on the best download website t use?  I was thinking of trying www.my-expat-network.com as they work throuhg paypal and so seems fairly safe, but I'd
been interested in views on what others have tried.

    Yes, I would be interested too, for viewing on a tablet.

    Really annoying BBC and ITV iplayer don't work abroad.

    At least my EuroSport app works abroad so I can watch cycling.

    I'd be interested too.  I'm not a great TV watcher but I miss the radio.  Can't get my fix of The Archers
    Embarassed  Can't even get World Service in New Zealand and they don't seem to have a talk radio station - guess I'll just have to make
    conversation with my daughter and family, who are the reason we are going to visit NZ
    Wink  Can't even download on the Ipod Sad
    or at least I couldn't last time, and this time I'm not taking my laptop just my tablet.

    I find the best to watch BBC & ITV and one which is free, is www.filmon.com. You will need at least 1 Mbps download speed, so on busy sites with low output wifi you might have a problem. If you have a new car with built in wifi like the Vauxhall Insignia you get 5Mbps from your car,s wifi hub, so just park on your pitch, which we all do and away you go, inderpendent of site wifi!!

    Filmon +3 is one of the best and once used one called the Tunnel bear which was also very good but after your allowance you then have to pay. The biggest problem in Spain is most wifi is free so the world and his wife are on taking up band width and when
    it does go down they are in no hurry to fix. I'm afraid in Spain a 1.4 dish is the way to go unfortunately because that takes up most of your pitch.

    I use Filmon with a wifi connection when at my apartment in Spain. Mostly for BBC News.

    Agree with Filmon, the only problem is when you are watching at peak times when most other campers are doing the same thing, the pixels break up or freeze, which is really annoying.

    As others we use Filmon, great if you have a good connection, if not we download the program overnight on our tablets, we each have 2 accounts which allows us to download 4 hours, but remember each program can only be a maximum of 1 hour duration. It worked
    fine for us when we were in Spain end of last year, it just means you are a day behind in your programs.

    We were introduced to Filmon whilst in the South of France. Although I thought it quite good the problem was that if the internet conked out on you you sometimes had to restart with all the adverts! Having said that with a good signal once the initial adverts
    have finished you can watch uninterupted. I have not tried it but I would imagine, if you have an HDMI connector on both TV and Laptop you might be able to route the picture to your TV via the laptop?

    DK, the internet 'conking out' as you put it is one of the reasons I download/copy it overnight from 'Filmon' to my tablet/laptop that way when you watch it you don't have to be online, so there is no buffering/conking out and you can watch it anywhere at
    anytime. I will be doing this when we go to Lanzarote, although the resort has a good Sky signal and UK programs, if we go out for a meal I miss what I want to watch, so I set it to record on 'Filmon'  then overnight copy it to my tablet SD card. Have a play
    around with it at home, it worked very well for us in Spain and I didn't miss a single programWink

    AD I think its ok as you are not watching it live + you have a BBC tv license don't youInnocent

    Yes but there would be nothing to stop me if I hadnt.

    Laughing I think thats why the Beeb wanted the footprint moved, I know they came up with all sorts of reasons but IMO it was to stop Expats
    from viewing free, I would be much happier with the Beeb going to pay to view type subscription and allowing us to view where ever we are via a box of some sort.

    You can get BBC RADIO, (live/listen-again/podcasts) anywhere abroad over the internet without doing anything special. Either use the BBCRadio app on a tablet, or go directly to bbc.co.uk/radio4 (or whichever station, including local radio).

    I agree, decent radio is much more vital than TV Happy
