It was manic with the lunchtime orders, then we had an hours break so went back to the carvan for a bite to eat and a cup of tea. Then once again it's been manic for the evening orders.

B2, the thing about the Sky service is that you can take it with you in the van....cant do this with a subscription cable system.
we actually have two SkyHD+ boxes, so keep one permanently installed in the van, just move my card over and pair it to the van box.
also, the sports and movies are broadcast on the Pan Euro beam, which means that, even in the furthest reaches of southern spain, you should get these with a 85cm dish
...and on the same dish, the UK 'soaps' would/should be available in the south of france.

BB soaps how frivolous I must come over on here . Not a great TV watcher myself it usually on in the background. I'm a radio spoken word person. Images much better . OH not keen on the dish on house, bet he hadn't thought or doidoiesnt know about
being able to take it away with us. I don't think I'll tell him - yet0 -
Very cold today with lumpy rain.
So a chance for another trip away from the farm. Just for curiosity we went down the M6 and onto the new Bay Gateway. - a brand new dual carriageway that goes almost to the ports at Heysham. There's still work to do (June 2017) according to signs, but
holdups seem much reduced. We drove back through Morecambe - OK if you look out to sea, but turn the other way and it's very depressing. We were doing a "recce" for a small music venue we're going to soon. We found it OK, but may struggle on a wet Sunday night.
Then back via the auction mart for a late dinner. They have a surprisingly good cafe.
Who says we don't know how to live it up!
Would that be around Lancaster too? We were up that way recently, drove A6 from Lytham St Anne's to Coniston. Want to explore the area more but your comments on Morecambe don't sound enticing. Of course we all know how to live it up, can't always be bothered
. Hope you do manage to get away.0 -
Hard frost but sunny today. Went to NWT Cley, had a good walk round and took some cracking photos of a spoonbill. The other excitement was I brought myself a new travel telescope so looking forward to trying it out in 'the field'.
Fron Cley Spy? Great shop!
And please post your spoonbill pics, always love seeing your photos.

BB, glad you posted, that's what we are hoping to do (take it away with us) but noticed someone said you have to have it connected to your phone line for the first 12 mths is
that right. Also the new boxes you don't get to keep if you are not subscribing to Sky, although we do have a Sky+ box that we have a Freeview card in. Don't use it at the moment but thought we might try like you to have one in the van and move the card over
when we go away. Do you know if that will be possible before the 12mths is up or are we stuck until then.B2 we don't get cable out where we live, I wouldn't have even considered Sky but for the fact we hope to take it away with us, if we can't then they will get it back after 12mths of half price viewing.
Funny thing when I was doing research I got 3 differant prices for the same package,£32 (full price) £21.44 (discounted) and finally £16 half price deal for 12 mths, installation a one off £15, I phoned in and got the £16 price (wouldn't have taken it otherwise)
I've just cancelled mine and OH contact lense contract last week, so the savings there were £30.85 a month + just got my 1st state pension paid in to bank feeling flush at the mo0 -

Goldie, my mum used to take us on holiday to Morecambe it was a popular place back then, with lots for families to do. Happy Mount Park had lovely gardens and you could play table tennis, putting or other activities. Sadly things
have gone downhill not helped by the failed Mr Blobby venture.I hope the new road brings much needed investment to the town.

I managed the construction of a small housing development in Heysham, back when I had to work for a living. An interesting little project, which involved the demolition of a church (which had its own problems, like it was riddled with abestos). The developer
went bust towards the end of construction and I then did some valuation work for the administrators (anything for an extra fee ).I often sat on the sea front in Morecambe to have my lunch - usually a sandwich from the local Morrisons. Not much of a place, but a nice art deco hotel on the front.

TG, yes it is right (or certainly was) that you needed to keep the box connected to the phone line but, a while back, it was if you had a 2nd box under a multi-room deal (cheap mirrored sub for a bedroom etc)....
the reason for this was that you could get a cheap 2nd box/sub and give it to someone else....hence the box 'rings' into sky periodically to confirm its location by the land line number.
however, im not sure about whats required with the new set ups, ill have a dig about....
re: the other box you have...yes, this should be ok....youll have to use the new card you get and youll have to pair it to the old box.
this can be done using a Sky app called Sky Service where you just type in some details like the card number and info of the box (serial no etc) youre matching it to.
when you get home, repairing is easier, just put the card in, turn to Sky 1 and it will tell you the card is invalid (as its linked to the other box) and ask if you want to pair it....select yes and job done.
the reason you cant do this process in the other direction is that its done by wifi and its unlikely the other box will be connected to a network on a campsite...hence the use of the Sevice app.

Where we are we can only get the five terrestrial channels.

Cheers BB knew you would sort me out
looks like the requirement for phone connection of a single box ended in Dec 2013, according to other questions on forums...
havent checked Sky T/C but you might have the detail with your 'pack'.

I did a 240 mile round trip towing a car trailer to pick up a 1957 Renault Dauphine with a mate of mine to add to his collection of quirky cars
v9
V9, ?? did it come with a dented roof at all ??
They were not Named Roll-Over Renaults for nothing !!
They looked nice , neat & tidy, But you could not get me in one even with you pushing and that lovely Mrs Douglas, the Welsh Lady Film Star Pulling !

Everyone looks as though they have had a busy, productive but cold day. Very heavy frost first thing and very cold all day here. I had a wonderful day shopping and having lunch with our daughter in Milton Keynes today. I even managed to get some Christmas
presents (plus something for myself)0 -

Where does that go off the M6? Is it from the new exit at Lancaster?

Strange sort of morning weather wise. We set off for our dog walk in the dry then it hailed, that turned to rain and sleet and then the sun came out, all within 15 mins. There was also a beautiful double rainbow! Bit of work in the garden when we got back
to try and get rid of a pond that's formed in the back. Spent afternoon & early evening watching the rugby, again, similar to last week.0 -
Yet more points!!

Bucketing down here as well but luckily no wind. Enjoy Thursford OP.

We went out locally last night to see a "vintage ska band" they were very good, nice evening out, I came back a bit early in really bad weather. Around 12am we could hear the wind roaring in the distance, it must have been bad down on the coast. The garden
is deep in leaves, we knew a lot would come down so when it gets dry we've got a lot of clearing up to do.0 -
One of our caravan wardrobe doors has jammed this morning. I think a bit of clothing must have got stuck in the catch so it won't open. Does anyone have any idea on how it can be fixed?

Malc, get something strong like a heavy steel knife & gently tease the door & panel it is attached to apart just below the catch. They are quite flimsy so be careful-no bull in a China shop approach. It worked for me-good luck

Thanks R2B. I just tried your suggestion and it worked. Problem solved!

It was very wet and windy overnight, but just grey and drizzly this morning. No plans for today, think it will be a lazy day with a good book. May
do some baking to put in the freezer ready for Christmas.0 -
