Late start this morning after a late night home following last night's quiz. There seems to be an abundance of road closures around this area at the moment. To get back from Truro was a feat in itself with night time closures on the A30 and our village road
still being closed. So we had to lug all the stuff round with us from the village car park!Fortunately the quiz night was a great success with a bumper attendance (boy, was that little room cosy!) and the best part of £500 raised for Arthritis support.
Next week we've got our autumn quiz night down at Chew Valley and it'll be a significant one as we'll reach the £20000 mark raised over the years!
Really pleased the quiz night was a success , well done raising all that money.

Been really busy since getting home from Cornwall , trying to catch up at work and all the washing and caravan cleaning. Think I've finally caught up, and the van has been returned to storage No more trips now until December

Had a good day , in the dry, walking around Sissinghurst Castle.
Not a real caste, as such, more an NT property. Dog caught Christmas dinner for us, nice pheasant which should be tasty after hanging for 7 weeks or so.
No she is not a springer, gun dog nor were we out hunting. Just one of those things.

After shopping at the town centre Tesco Express, we went to the Esso fuel station on 182, Littlehampton Road.
I now have a business fuel card through which I can buy fuel at a discounted price because they take off the VAT which is 20% less to pay. The fuel card company then invoices me for the net price which is then collected by direct debit.
Last time I filled up, the pump price came to £88.40 but the net price was over £16 less. I use about £500 a month in fuel so this could save me £100 per month on fuel costs.

After filling up, we then went on to the Tesco Extra in Fulbeck Way. As it was quite late in the evening, there were plenty of parking spaces quite close to the supermarket. We found some more reduced priced foods so I ended up with a bag full of groceries
for just over £3. So plenty to eat when we get home tonight plus snacks and dips.0 -
On the way back to the town centre, we stopped for a while outside the Pizzarelli shop in Broadwater to see what progress is being made with the repairs. It looks like work has started on the building which is all cordoned off with scaffolding.
If and when they do re-open the shop, they will have to start all over again from scratch because the two chefs have now got other jobs. They have no staff left, having been closed for so long. No drivers either to do the deliveries.

We're now back in the town centre just outside Chapel House. It has been a quiet day. Only 3 orders in the whole day so far. It's not long to go before we finish. We need to get back to Littlehampton CC site before 11 p.m. if we want to get the car in because
the barriers on the club sites lock at 11 p.m.0 -
I may be wrong, I usually am, but when we were there in September I thought I saw that the railway was starting from Armathwaite until the land slip had been clearned up.
There was someone on Armathwaite station as we passed but it didn't look to be in use, but I could well be wrong.

Dull day here, so we just managed a couple of hours walk round the lanes, and it started to rain about 3/4 of the way round. Got out again for an hour's walk through the woods in the afternoon after having done my good deed for the day. OH spotted that the
rear tyre of the car in the pitch across from us was nearly flat. Used our tyre compressor to blow it out so that the car's owner could get it to a garage for repair. In exchange was given a recommendation for a CL... well pleased.More rain again tonight, and not looking promising for our move down to Penrith tomorrow.0 -

An hour ago got a tee-hee-mail from The Elderly One !!
The neighbours had arrived home to find the kitten, back in the correct basket guarding a pile of stale bread which it was non too happy to have taken away!!

We left the Worthing town centre and we're now parked by Broadwater Green. In a short while, we'll be starting our journey back to Littlehampton. It takes us about 20 minutes from here. So it looks like we're done for today as it's now 21:45 and no more
orders to do. So I think I'll take a chance and hope for the best that I don't get a call out whilst on the way back to our site.0 -
Another day spent in a hospital ward, our son had a recurrence of the tummy problems! It will be a 6night stay this time, at least that's the story so far!

Write your comments here...It's Crystal Velocity. I just pay the net amount after deducting the VAT and even that is on credit. The bill gets debited to my bank account weekly. I get the invoice by email and I still get my Tesco Club card points. It's a win win, Goldie! I would have thought you could get this too because as a farmer you're self-employed and presumably using fuel for your business.

So let me get this right Malc, you pay no tax and no VAT on fuel and you publish the fact on an open forum. As has been stated many times before you really need to stop publishing personal, financial and other details about yourself, its just good security!

Write your comments here...I found out about it, Oneputt because the fuel card was advertised on facebook. So it is already a published matter. If I'd known about this a year ago, I could have saved £1200 in fuel costs! My tax returns with HMRC are up to date as they are submitted online. So everything is above board, Oneputt. What's there to hide? There is a personal tax allowance. If you are below that threshold, you don't pay tax. However, for next tax year my income will go above that threshold and then I will be charged the appropriate amount of tax. I will get the bill online from HMRC and will pay it online through card payment.

Write your comments here...It's set up in my own name. I'm registered with HMRC for tax as self-employed. I have to pay for all the fuel I use, I don't get any fuel allowance from Dinner2go. By the way, the fuel card only works at a fuel station local to your business. So if you're away on holiday, you have to pay the full price including VAT. Also you can't use it on any car because everytime you use the fuel card, you have to notify your mileage and car registration number. It has to match the information that the fuel card company hold about you.
Dinner2go are not my employer. They contract delivery work to me as a self-employed fast food delivery driver. My delivery fees are now paid by them directly into my bank account.I no longer have to collect cash. So everything is correctly accounted.
