We headed back towards Calais for a restful couple of days at the end of our France holiday.
We are at Bien Assize and counted just two other units on site when we arrived. There have been a few over-nighters but I think there are just two others tonight (probably because the ACSI web site and their own web site say they would close on the 26th,
when the site actually closes tomorrow the 30th).We had a drive down to Le Touquet yesterday (which we love). Bought some soupe de poisson from Perards and walked along the sea front watching the kite surfers. Checked out the camp site there. It seems pretty good - the owner / manager gave us a leaflet
and was happy for us to have a look around. Expensive though at 26 euros a night - same price all year round - unusual? The weather yesterday was breezy but very warm. Today, Autumn seems to have arrived, with light drizzle and overcast. We had a trip to Carrefour to prise the last few bottles into the car ()
then lunch of prawns and pate with French bread and a bottle of St Emillion, sat on the sea front watching the waves and the ferries go back and forth.About to have our tea now in the absolute peace and quiet.

Been over to Hawes today, not quite so windy there, but rather wet, so we only visited the Cheese Making place, had lunch, tasted all the cheeses and purchased several pieces to take home.
Had booked to go to the CC site there last year, but had to cancel. Looks like a nice little town for a short break, but the roads from the west are not great.
Much less windy now back at BC site.

Day started off well, lovely walk with the dog, all ironing done ,
then discovered the Windows 10 update has knackered up Sage Accounts, locking me out! Must have missed the warning, fix
is a bit complicated, left until tomorrow! Hopefully can get it sorted, but was slightly annoyed and not happy with windows 10!0 -
Helen. I decided not to update to windows 10 and the more I hear the more glad I am that I didn't. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Thanks Millie, been fairly happy, up until this update . It has affected lots of Sage users, only got a warning today when I logged into Payroll today, update had already been done!

A less than satisfactory visit to the GP on tuesday. Mr H couldnt get appt with our own GP so saw one he had never been to before. Couldnt shed any light on why he had passed out and ended up in A&E last week. Thought it might be to do with his BP so suggestrd
buying a BP monitor. Now taking his BP twice a day and it keeps changing so he is getting a bit worried. 'Probably normal to keep changing' I said but he is not convinced. Luckily he has an appt with our own GP next week. Hope he tells us to put the monitor
back in the box! Anyway Mr H decided he felt OK to go on the walk with our walking group this morning. Lovely walk and a pub lunch afterwards with good friends and he is looking more cheerful.0 -

When using a home machine its often best to do three tests with a few minutes inbetween as sometimes you get a false initial reading as the person being tested is either not relaxed or has not rested before the test is done. My doctor uses the old fashioned
mercury tester. But when I have been test with an electronic machine its sometimes done twice!!!David

I once had a blood pressure test where the nurse taking it for the third time, just to take the best of three.......the cuff shot off my arm and across the room! We didn't use that one!
PS I am off to the GP for a BP check tomorrow!

Millie, when the Doc takes my BP, it's usually on the "High Side", so he seldom bothers now and leaves it to the nurse when its within "Usual & Normal Limits". However after they decided I should try "Ramipril" or some
such, they got me back in for another BP test. It was taken by a very young nurse, who was not over happy and asked the senior nurse on duty to come and try it herself !! To everybodies surprise, it was just inside
the bottom limits of "Acceptable" so now I have Docs readings high, nurses readings low, so I reckon I should just keep on reading CT & letting them tie themselves in knots !!0 -
That just about says it all ABM.

I've got a BP monitor and used to use it when I first got it but now it just lies in the cupboard and I never seem to get round to using it.

We'll be waiting in for a washing machine to be delivered. The old one gave up the ghost this week. It had been repaired more times than I can remember it was a sad day for this Yorkshireman when I had to part with money to buy a new one

Millie sorry but just picked up your post,
I have been treated for BP (hypertension) for 24years ,tell OH not to worry about different results when taking his BP,
They are doing more checks after a couple of "black outs"
I am on another seven day cycle of daily taking my BP ,(we have worn out two monitors over the years)every day I will get a different result, even high high at times, but if it around the same area usually the docs are not worried ,
Taking it at home "relaxed" will not have the "white coat syndrom" of the docs surgery,
Ps yours is just as likely to be "raised " now
Pps must ensure I do not read some CT post before I go to docs on Tuesday

Still hot here in GC, low to mid 30s at least we now have a breeze so much more pleasant for walking around in. Been doing a fair bit of pool swimming, something I haven't done for a long time. Its amazing how after a few days you settle back into it, been
upping the number of lengths each day, am feeling rather pleased with myself. Last dat here in the apartment, we move tomorrow to the villa we have rented for next week. The owners have been out using it for the last month and phoned on Wednesday to see if
we'd like to go and have a look around and a drink. Lovely couple and a nice villa, looking forward to a peaceful week. Sounds like everyone out and about are having a good time, hope it continues.0 -

A quick update on our Canadian trip. We've moved on from Toronto to Kingston en route for Ottawa.
Toronto is a typical North American city - overwhelmed with skyscrapers and choked with traffic, very little of any age left. But the CN tower is a great attraction giving fantastic views of the cityscape and over Lake Ontario. Even managed to persuade Mrs M to venture onto the glass floor! We also did a harbour cruise which goes over to one of the little islands where the well-to-do have their holiday cottages and where you get the most attractive views of Toronto's waterfront.
Then we did the traditional tourist trip out to Niagara Falls. The town/city itself is horribly commercialised but the falls themselves are every bit as breathtaking as the tourist blurb claims and the trip on the little boats that take you almost to the foot of the falls is the experience of a lifetime.
Now we're at Kingston and our hotel is right on the waterfront. It's a much smaller city and all together more pleasant. Just here for the one night then off to Ottawa later today.

Having had a fiddle with the apartment aircon, it now seems to have stopped dripping water. Not sure what I did though. Noticed a 64 plate Benimar MH parked down by our local bars/eateries last night. I presume he was off for a bit of wild camping at Carabassi
beach car park later.0 -
Thank you JVB. That is most reassuring. I think Mr H will feel happier when he sees our own GP next week as he knows his history.

Well the visit to the GP for the BP check came out with the same result ...........still a bit on the high side! So got an additional script for more pills! I'm sure the GP likes our little chats on a monthly basis!

Lovely weather this morning here in Barnard Castle, so we went up to High Force. By the time we got there it was raining, but did not last very long so we got on our boots and had a leisurely walk to the waterfall.
Lots of water in the river so it was both noisy and impressive.
Afterwards we went into Barnard Castle for lunch and a wander around.
Tomorrow is our last day away as we are due home on Sunday.
