Well, i have found it is very bad news on the caravan hitch/jockey wheel.
I got my camera on a stalk thingy and investigated the hitch/jockey wheel. Have discovered that we have, for goodness knows how long, been towing with only one bolt holding the hitch to the van, the second bolt is broken!
Now need something which AlKo do not actually offer as a spare!
If we cannot get it soon, we will need to cancel all our intended trips till we can get something sorted.
Not good, in fact frighteningly bad! Goodness knows how long it has been like this. And this does not even begin to cover the jockey wheel problem.
It's a wonder it wasn't spotted when you had the van last serviced, Kjell. Hope you manage to get it all sorted out so that you can get away on time.
Van was serviced in February and jockey wheel was presumably OK then, not that it is connected with the broken hitch bolt problem.
Soon after that, in about May the jockey wheel problem showed itself.
The broken bolt in the hitch is something which I would think would be almost impossible to spot, no doubt something which is not covered by the service.
To see it you would have to look up under the hitch with a camera, I only spotted it as I was trying to see what was happening with the jockey wheel clamp.
Have sent an e mail to AlKo to see what they have to say.
Will follow up with a phone call Monday pm, then a call to dealer if no joy.

I have to agree that it does seem a bit more like Autumn rather than Summer but that suits me! I prefer the cooler temperatures. It's still warm enough to sit out in the relaxers with a cold drink and an icecream.
We bought two packs of Magnums from Tesco that were on offer at half price! We also bought a 24 pack of diet coke for £7. So we keep some in our electric cool box in the car so that we can get a cold drink when out and some in the caravan fridge.
The car also seems to be running smoother since the service.

Went to Verden Aller yesterday and unlike when stationed there in 1970 my interest this time was architecture and culture! Also walked up to the confluence of the Weser and the Aller. This morning of to Hameln to watch a reenactment of the Pied Piper!

Does it have to be a specifically Alko bolt? Will not a bolt with a suitable specification suffice or is there a custom sleeve as part of the assembly as well?

Inserting a new bolt will mean removing the whole assembly, which is not too difficult.
I have now ascertained that the bit where the the jockey wheel is held is totally worn away on the lower edge, allowing it to "lean" alarmingly, so am thinking that I really need a whole new assembly rather than just a bolt.

Nice sunny day, having a late lunch. Went out to NT Barrington Court early at 10.30am, had a peaceful coffee and cake on the terrace and a look around the gardens. The veg area is looking good this year, we admired the pumpkins and squashes as we've been
trying to grow a few at home. Bought some books in the secondhand book barn and then came home.

Not as sunny today,
decided that the caravan roof needed cleaning, we could hardly see through the sky light, 
ended
up washing the whole van as the dirty water ran down the sides
Never mind now have a lovely clean caravan,
well until the next trip anyway.

We have just returned home from a lovely weekend away. We done something a little differnent and went to th commercial site at Maidens in South Ayrshire normally when we are down that way we go to The Ranch but we fancied something different we were pleasently
surprised even although the site is mostly statics the touring area is very good and has a modern toilet block also it wasnt too expensive. Overall a good weekend now going to get dinner ready0 -
Not too bad again weather wise today, still very cloudy but at least there are blue bits up there
quite warm too so no complaints
today. After giving the back deck a good scrub yesterday, today I gave it a coat of deck oil, second coat tomorrow maybe. Also had Mum for a few hours today, she is walking much better now, should be able to manage without the frame soon. Going out for a run
on the trike shortly, haven't used it for awhile due to the rain and wind so need to give it a good spin. Managed to sell a few items that had been lurking in the attic for years so OH is well pleased (as the GK's would say) Hope everyone is having a good

Pretty dull here all day, but at least it stayed dry.
This morning I touched up the bare bits (from my sanding yesterday) on the garage doors, so tomorrow I can hopefully get the whole surface of the doors treated.
In the afternoon I put Hammerite on the outside faces of the 4 balcony posts I can reach from my scaffold tower, the rest need to be done from the ladder. As do the rest of them that are bolted in place under the balcony.
Then we dismantled the scaffold partly, the last bit I will leave up meantime so I can stand on it to wash the roof of the caravan.
Quite a lot still to be painted so will be a few days yet before it is finished.

Have just returned from a lovely week at Houghton Mill. Great weather. Some lovely walks, a day at Wicken Fen, a day enjoying the walled garden at Wimpole Hall and a trip to Cambridge on the guided bus where we enjoyed the 200th anniversary at The Fitzwilliam.

Restful weekend recharging our batteries. Son in law had the snip Friday, baby not quitesux weeks old!
Went to absolutely fabulous the film, really nice cinemas here, licensed so you can have an alcoholic drink should you want one. Good resting place on arms for drinks and snax, take your own if you like. Really enjoyed it, but loved the TV show.
Up and to the trash and treasure market in Cambridge Sunday morning, alkso home to the racing stables, mist successful, handmade wooden bowls and spoons -beautiful,handmade soaps too and lively hand painted glass bowl - gifts sorted. OHchecking out house
prices and locations, again. Have endless discussions on should we shouldn't . We have decided on furniture to be shipped what to live in temporarily in NZ but not whether we want or it is practical to . much to tji k about whether NZ would have us, certainly
no pension increases on UK pensions we think, one in UK. Oh what fun we have!!! Having experienced winter, just now I'm sitting in the sun in a sleeveless t shirt typing this and its February 15th in UK terms . Six months uneach country is another possibility.
Oh so many choices. Life is certainly less stressed here.Visited local cathedral, celebrating 100years if being a parish church this year - oldest building in town! Very tranquil and beautiful. Home cooked dinner with friends Sunday evening, most pleasant.
Over to daughters first thing today, all children sleeping, took granddaughter one to kibdy asnitwo has doctors appointment, six week check at seven weeks! First jabs, awaiting on return if them all.vac'd through and done three loads of washing, so few minutes

Sounds like you are having a good time in NZ Bakers. We too have "talked" about 6 mths and 6 mths, still not sure yet where that would be, might try a few differant places. Afraid can't really commit to it at the moment with Mum being as she is. Youngest
son and his family are off to Malta to live in 5 weeks time, they are really excited about it but nervous just the same, not quite the distance you have to travel though. Nice to here the winters aren't too bad over there I thought they would have been more
like the north of Scotland, maybe that's the south island I'm thinking of. Continue having a good time0 -

You seem to be having a great time in NZ Bakers2, it must be a very difficult decision to have to make re a permanent move.
Tammygirl, hope your son's move goes well, Malta will be nice for holidays.
We are lucky both our sons are within an hours drive, at the moment, youngest has been looking at jobs in Manchester, to be nearer his girlfriend.
